I personally use a few SP’s, but my main snuff is always an SP of some form or another…I’d be curious to find out what yours is.
Personally I find that variety is the spice of life so I’m constantly changing what flavours I’m snuffing. I tend to keep both at least one mentholated snuff and one plainish or floral snuff on me at all times.
for me it’s a plain snuff and something rose. Doesn’t really matter the brand or style all that much. Why cause other snuffs either end up bothering my nose like menthols and a few others or the scent dies or gets tiresome.
+1 on the daily variety but there’s almost always a coarse and moist natural in rotation.
Not my number one of all, but Toque USA Whiskey and Honey hits me like the first time every time. Makes a great all-dayer but do too much and it can dull your sense of smell substantially.
Right now its SG after glow. Not sure what itll be next week.
Crumbs of Comfort or High Dry Toast
6 Photo Cheeta Chhap Gul (as of late).
I have been tending to rotate day to day between Viking Blonde and McChrystal’s SP as the main go-to snuff. I really enjoy the rapid nic hit and Earl Grey backdrip on the SP, but also really love the initial burn from the Blonde. Sometimes I will do pinches of both at the same time. SD Raspberry and Toque Coke ride shotgun as well.
my main snuffs are 3 now in particular …
ntsu
kendal brown
gawith hoggarth sp.
i would be happy for rest of my life on just those.
SG Black Arabica for moist and Toque USA WH for dry
@eblip is that the KB Original or one of the others?
There is no such thing as main all-day snuff for me! I have so many snuffs that I need to enjoy what’s already on hand, so I’m usually working through different random selections each week. Generally they tend to be from UK
IHT 22 and Toque Whisky & Honey share that place for me.
@BillSykes…i have 3 kendal browns…that i use every day whichever takes my fancy .
kendal brown ----there is a chance this is kendal brown original.
kendal brown original
kendal brown special.
they are all very similar the special just seems a little bit zestier.
i cant get the basic kendal brown any more so its nearly run out, so i ll stick with kendal brown original as substitute.
but i like the burn and the hit off all the kendal browns so its on my daily rotation …half a day is on some form of kendal brown…top quality snuff that…and to think i hated it at first.
Toque Menthol, pretty much the only thing I use anymore.
@eblip thanks Im going to order all 3 KBs I think and some Irish D and give them all a go My B&M doesnt stock any SG snuff so Ive never picked any up…until now! Or atleast soon…
Toque Quit or Irish D. It’s almost always one or the other or both all day every day, with the occasional guest appearance of some good ol’ Navy plain.
Right now it is: WoS Tom Buck F&T Old Paris Bernard Gekachelter Virginie
I tend to either go for a WoS or Mcchrystal’s combination. For the majority of the day. Tom Buck and an occasional bit of Grand Cairo. Or Mcchrystal’s SP and O&G.
I go through phases where all I like are menthols. Then I’ll go to Kendal brown types, then Indian snuffs at night. Then when I resupply, whatever is newest and freshest.
Best Dark right now. Sometime after my next order gets here it will be lime toast again. After that, probably SP Extra. Then Tom Buck. Maybe a week long stint with Santo Domingo in the middle or so. I usually buy a large amount of one of these and use it, moving on to the next one as I run out. I really do not deviate from these much as all day snuffs…and usually I have one or two small tins of something I like or something I haven
doesn’t have a name but the Toque bespoke I just got is literally a snuff that’s kept me away from the pipes as much. I usually smoke the pipe on my walks but then I’d have to stop snuffing. It’s a sambac Jasmine snuff. It’s incredible.
i have got really boring…currently im just taking ntsu all day every day.
@eblip challenge yourself with some similars! Like: Taxi Red (much like NTSU), Viking Thor’s Hammer & Neffa Ifrikia
ar47 yes the taxi red is very nice too…ill try the neffa ifrikia next time around …i like taxi red when fresh but still ntsu has the edge on it…but gonna try the other.
Lately I usually carry Toque Spanish gem and toque lime toast everywhere. Tom Buck, Quit, and SP Extra find their way out the door now and then. For long hours in a smelly conference room I will have either Motia, Anarkali, or Special on hand for the occasion. Helps me out and decreases suspicion by close neighbors :))
Red Bull for me.
White Elephant probably…get the most nervous when it starts running low, and seems to be the one I order somewhat regularly
For years my go-to’s have been HDT or SG Black Rappee depending on wheather I wanted to perk up, or chill out.
Lately I’ve been hooked on Taxi Blue.
I am fairly new so I switch it up often to try new things, but I always have a tin of either Spanish Gem or an SP in my pocket, plus another rotating tin of new things to try.
SWS Latakia seems to find it’s way into my nose every day without fail, Gekachelter would have to be a close second though.
41 P
White Elephant is my usual snuff
although I highly regard Old Mill and Sir Walter Scott’s here and there
Lately it’s been McChrystal’s O&G. Never been much of a medicated guy before, but there’s just something about this stuff that keeps me coming back.
I generally have three snuffs going at a time, but my favorite is Toque Quit. I almost always have some available.
SG Kendal Brown is like crack to me, I need all the self-control I can muster to keep from tilting my head back and pouring the tin down my nose. I ran out of SWS Aged Border Rapee sadly, so I use Ettan or Roda Lacket snus to compliment the nic that KB provides.
Wilson’s Irish High Toast no. 22, all day every day. Often plain, sometimes flavoured with a tonquin bean or a hint of F&T Morocco or Seville.
Over the years, I keep coming back to Toque USA Whiskey and Honey. There are all the hallmarks of obsession- it should have a girls name.
At the moment my main all day snuff is Bernard Gekachelter Virginie, but I interrupt it with bumps of Poschl Gawith Original and/or a Schmalzler. As a rule I enjoy coarser moist snuffs more than finer dry snuffs.
I’m doing Tom Buck and Dholakia White today. Tom Buck is gradually superseding the other one.
Looking back to 2019, most frequented with gusto were Six Photo MG Madras (app. 100 g), Toque USA Whiskey & Honey (40 g), Six Photo Begum Green (30 g), Irish No.22 (30 g), TNT (25 g) and a thimble of JNF Dragon Brand Madras. Modest amount, but tons of pleasure!
I did quite a bit of WoS Rowse and Six Photo Gul, too. The former qualified as a bulk filler, the latter - craving killer (when out of my above-listed favourites).
Toque Quit for the win.
Mc Chrystal’s O&G, NTSU green, Dr Rumney’s Green(aniseed), Jaxson’s 1869. I’m addicted to menthol as well as nicotine.
@mrmanos Exposure to menthol facilitates development of nicotinic receptors in mice (up to 78% in the part of the brain which is responsible for addiction).
One easy reading on that: https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn26668-menthol-increases-nicotine-addiction-by-tweaking-brain/
@volunge very interesting indeed. Maybe that’s why I’m strung out on menthol! I’ve even gotten to the point of buying different mint type oils and making my own. Viking brown, London brown and Santo Domingo are the snuffs I mainly mentholate. I’ve also recently started using pure spearmint oil to make my own version of Viking Spear. Not exactly identical but pretty close. Thanks for the link. I’m gonna go read it.
Very interesting! Menthol would seem to make nicotine more addictive, but @volunge would you speculate the increase in receptors raises nicotine tolerance or (conversely) sensitizes one to the effects?
@SammyD13. This is complicated. I’m not sure if menthol has very same effects on human brain. I will definitely try digging deeper into this when I have more spare time and get back here.
@mrmanos, this is the way to go. They simply add essential oils (directly) and menthol solution. You just need to find the right ratio. I accidentally overdid with eucalyptus oil once (added 9% instead of 4.5%) and came up with inebriating stuff with a most badass burn I ever experienced…
Usually I use WE Garrett sweet the most on a daily basis because of its availability and versatility. I dip it and sniff it, sometimes at the same time. Poschl doppelaroma gets used pretty often as well, but I don’t take it everywhere like I do the Garrett sweet. Medicated stuff gets put in the rotation when my allergies are acting up or when it’s cold outside.
Spanish gem is a pretty easy one to take on a frequent basis.
If you take into account the amount snuffed, probably HDT… but Toque SP Extra is my “never fails” snuff. Everything else either tires me out after too long or only suits a certain mood. So even though I only really take it when I’m out and about, it’s probably closer to “all day snuff” than anything else.
@Insefflemus I second what you say about Toque SP Extra. Good nicotine and it keeps my nose clear with no rebound. However, White Elephant is an everyday snuff for me, whether on its own or mixed. I was lucky enough to buy huge quantities of it when it was cheap. Took me a while to learn how to snuff it, but once I had mastered it there was no turning back!
My main all day snuff is a mixture. Not one specific mixture, just a mixture of SP or plain snuff, with one of the many older British perfumed or floral snuffs at around 10 to 20 percent to just add a little lift. Think of it like an SP Plus. As the snuffbox hasnt always been fully emptied before the next lot goes in, it is kind of an organic mix that is constantly changing. Sometimes I might spice if up with a little rustica, but only a little is needed. I currently tend to split this mix between two snuff tins. One of which is in use, and the other has recently had the inside of the lid wafted through the steam from the kettle spout when making a cup of tea, and is being left to fluff up. There are few snuffs that I use neat these days, and when I do, they are not for all day use. At the moment, I have a small tin of Toque Raspbery to hand, which I might reach for once every ten pinches, or forget about for a whole day. There’s usually one such snuff to hand.
MG Madras, or any of the other Madras snuffs
Sugandh Sagar Rose for most times. MG Madras when it gets a bit chilly.
Over the years I have had 3 primary snuffs and they are the same today.
Toque Whiskey & Honey original or USA
Fubar Grunt
Toque Quit
Others that I like a lot and could use all day would be Toque Ambrosia, WoS Africa, WoS No. 22 and any of Toque’s other Toast
Mcchrystals O&G CBD
Posted in the wrong thread
Irish no 22, sometimes I will fill my snuff box with something else for a day, but that night whatever is in it gets replaced with my usual.
Limiting it down to last 20 years of snuff taking - for me it is the Gawith Original by Poschl.
It still is in my daily rotation. At least at work. Easy to take - nice aroma and some nic hit. At least to me.
There are better ones out there, but this is my go-to-snuff for almost many many years.
I must have taken almost several kilograms of this one through the years.
Main all day brand is 6Photo and everything else rotate here and there day per day.
My all-dayer is typically Neffa. No artificial flavours, no drip whatsoever. And the tobbaco scent in this one is incredible, so pronounced and natural! However, its a super fine snuff so it’s a bit trickier to take without occasional throat hits. Takes practice but its worth good amount of vitamin Such a shame Sifaco sells only 8g tins. Too expensive here in my city to buy 4 cans a month, too tasty to last long. I am looking forward to hear from you if theres something similar out there to hunt for. I can bet there isnt! Truly exeptional stuff, change my mind…
@Johano for my taste, these are some of my recommendations:
6 photo M.G madras
Janta Dragon madras
Toque Quit
6 photo Natural
FUBAR Toasted
Sir Walter Scott st.James Parish blend…
great tobacco taste and lots of nicotine!
@tobaccobob thank you sir, looks like shopping list for the next month or two
I’m in a slow restock mode because of Brexit… after 31 december 2020 taxes and customs office searches will be a huge problem perhaps after that date i will cannot order any tobacco product outside Greece, what a mesh WTF, i have restock 3kg until now.
@Nikolaos After 30 December 2020 countries outside of UK won’t be able to order snuff from uk websites? Snuff wont be exported outside the uk? Or is it only for Greece? These are sad news eitherway :-(
If that’s true I have to buy kilograms before December.
@ALLex After 31 December 2020 European Union will treat England as a third country, customs control will be made with declarations and i’m very afraid that the import of tobacco products will be completely banned in Greece at least…
Check how your country will be affected from Brexit, UK perhaps will still export tobacco products after 31/12/20. The problem will be in Europe countries. Today i can’t import tobacco products outside EU not allowed in Greece.
:((
Everyone who live in EU must check how the Brexit will affect his country. Cook before you get hungry…
I wish i was wrong…
I think Mr Snuff/snuffstore and Toque ship now from The Isle of Man so hopefully there will be no problem!
@Nikolaos, sales and import of smokeless tobacco products were banned in all three Baltic countries well before entering the EU. However, so far not a single parcel with snuff or snus was officially opened or confiscated by the customs. Safety considering, I place only small orders, up to 200 g of snuff and up to a roll of snus. My mail was checked only once. Ironically, it was a simple season greetings post card in the envelope, send from Holland. I received it decorated with a fancy, smiley-yellow customs inspection sticker
To give you some more hope, some snuffstore parcels come with a CN22 sticker (which is not necessary for goods send within the EU), where the contents are truthfully indicated as “snuff”. Moreover, the parcels coming from the UK (as well as those from Holland and Spain) are inspected more thoroughfully due to higher likelihood to find illicit substancies. Northerner.com used to send snus with correct CN22, too. Still, all my parcels came through.
Although mailed articles from the third countries get more customs attention, all small parcels with smokeless tobacco products (up to 200 g) and honestly filled CN22 arrived safe, sound and unchecked.
@volunge @tobaccobob Thank you both for the support! Yes perhaps with very small orders will be more easy the whole situation. I also found this: (which will be the new rules at the end?) https://www.gov.im/about-the-government/departments/cabinet-office/eu-exit-and-the-transition-period/ Hopefully everything will be ok after 31/12/20 and Greek customs not to be crazy to open everything came from UK… Mixed feelings want to laugh and cry…
At the moment it’s either SWS Havana Toast or Viking Dark alternating.
I’ve usually got some Ettan Los snus in my lip too.
