Hi Just curious what makes peeps hit the like button. Mine’s very straight forward and maybe overly generous, I dunno. If I know and like the product being talked about and it’s being described in a positive way, I always hit like. If the post isn’t about a specific product, then it just comes down to whether I like what’s being said in the post. I suppose I’m a bit of a ‘like-whore’. Also use agree a fair bit, but reserve insightful for truly educational posts.

H

I like posts I like, haha. It’s really a pretty silly feature and sometimes I wish we didn’t have it at all, since I’m worried people will think I dislike their posts just because I didn’t hit “like”, but I figure most people have more important things to worry about.

D

If I like something and have no words to add…

S

That worries me too, esp if I notice someone tends to like a lot of my posts. I make an extra effort to like their posts to show appreciation.

C

If I like it… I like it. 8-}

When I hit the “like” button on threads such as the announcement ones I don’t even pay attention to who is posting what. I think it is a cool feature of the forum, kinda like if you are out and you see someone with a t-shirt of a band you like and you give them some sort of acknowledgement. It also would be useful if there was a “WTF” or “you have got to be s***ing me” button.

S

LOL. A WTF button would be funny but I could see it being problematic too. X_X

I give likes for what I like. and sometimes I am in a hurry and just post. I don’t post from a phone so I have to wait to log on at home. I do post a lot and try to read all the current threads. I see some words that I like or just the tone of it ,thumbs up. I have known a member here who only used scotches and they would like every post in WIYN ,WYCDS,WIYP threads, Without knowing if the product is likable. And like you said by guilt; his likes climbed fast. I refuse to like product I have not tried. But I do see me making a shopping list. I kind of wish a description was attached to the product or if your trying something for the first time what your impression of the product is, not necessary a review. It is eerie when I go to post and someone just posted a product of what I am about to post. Sorry if I didn’t like anyone’s post, nothing personal. just didn’t get to it. The traffic here is getting busy. Likes do make you happy and gives a feeling of belonging. Can I cash mine in.I do have 8.9K I guess it something I said and I have 1 spam is there a badge for that?

@willc We can actually enable a “WTF” button and something similar to the other one you mentioned. Sometimes its tempting to want to do that to a post, but we’ve consciously left off having negative buttons since they can cause trouble. Shaman, The spam one was one rarely used until a few days ago, and all the uses I saw of it were abuses of it. Spam is unsolicited advertising, not something you just don’t like. I’ll see if I can clear them from your records.

I

How about a “play nice now” button ;)) With lots of little smilies.

Its used like it is because we dont click spam, we click flag- then spam is the only option, and to flag a post is what is done when a post is bad/inappropriate. Though i suppose some of what was marked as spam before was people just spamming irrelevant derogatory comments.

H

I got a post flagged as spam because I mentioned some product or other by name.

N

I got flagged for spam because someone was trolling so I called him a troll.

B

I thought a flag was something good like a bookmark Glad I never used it as such .Isn’t That a negitive button? Or is it a red flag.Black flag is used as a symbol of anarchism. Is there a spam button http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8huXkSaL7o

S

a sense of humor will most always get a like and pertinent info is always appreciated. 8-} 8-}

I may of accidentally hit the flag button on occasion.i only use my windows phone when I come on here.the like button is directly underneath the flag button so is easy to accidentally press the wrong one one.i would never MIS use this function.

@Xander I was joking about a “WTF” button. Things like that really only can lead to trouble and this forum is the best one I have seen. This could be a nice experiment @Xander. As I have said this is a good forum and the current membership is why this is a nice place so let us see what happens.

Haha, yes. The WTF button is a real feature here. I’ve decided to activate it, just for today for fun, - I’ll deactivate it tonight, so you guys can see it. Use it at will! (but be nice) I’ve also enabled an “abuse” notification. So if a member sees an abusive comment (one member towards another) that he/she thinks requires moderator attention: you can flag it and we will deal with it. [Unless Chris (@cstokes4) objects] I think its a good feature, and won’t cause people to misuse the spam button, we could keep it active.

B

@SnuffySnuff i liked your first comment. Need i say more! :))

S

‘Like’

D

WTF! I like it. There should be a “winning” button.

S

You can change your mind and undo the WTF or any other option by selecting a different one @lunecat

N

Or you can undo it completely by clicking on it again

D

So is the WTF button a good thing or bad?

I

Good

H

Oh also for the record for anyone who cares I hardly ever bother to like posts in the “what’s in your nose” section just because it fills up so fast. I’d probably like nearly all the posts if I could. Besides SG Mimosa

B

Back when I first joined I used WTF in a sentence and got a stern PM, from a mod, to the effect of do it again and you’re out! Now we have a button…Progress? hmmmmmm

X

Don’t worry. I’m about to disable it. It was just for amusement today.

H

There is no criteria per se… Just something that grabs me on the spur of the moment – it could be amusing, provocative, ironic, or anything that sets off my own most peculiar dry sense of humor.

F

I was wondering that the deal was earlier today when I saw that WTF button! I miss it all ready!
