I got a tin of the mentholated first. The smell was so pungent and different that I thought it might be moldy. It took a good while but it grew on me. The menthol is intense and I got used to this pungent mystery scent.

I’ve just received the menthol free and it’s amazing, especially in the cold weather when the menthol is a bit much. The smell is so unique that I have no idea what I’m smelling, I can’t name a single note. It seems to drift around between mold or turpentine and sometimes banana, these are just the closest smells I can equate it to but my brain is totally confused.

Any help Identifying these scents or how it’s made would be appreciated. I can’t put it down but can’t figure it out.

Eucalyptus? Peppermint? Camphor? I haven’t tried that snuff, just guessing.

Waiting forward to hearing your thoughts, @clsmoothie. And… maybe even a comparison with some similar snuff from WoS range (I can’t help but suspect those A+S are actually made by WoS or McChrystal’s ).

There’s no mint, eucalyptus, or camphor that I can detect. It’s unlike any other snuff and I mean it’s vastly different. I couldn’t make a comparison between it and any WoS. The menthol free one has the same pungent scent that I’ve grown to love but still seems to have a slight cooling effect. It has a fluffy, moist, medium coarse grind.

If you’re adventurous and want something new, you have to have it and then you have to come tell me about it. Please, @clsmoothie, let me know what you think. This is driving me mad. I need help.

Hey @Dude ! After about a month my order arrived, so I finally was able to get my fingers into the mentholfrei A+S tin.

Off the tin it smells like pinesol, however, when I got it into my nose it was distinctly different than that.

For me, I detected mint, but not mint flavoring…more like a fresh mint leaf picked from the garden. It is very good.

Interesting. I can see where you get pine sol and I can see the mint. I don’t get either in the nose, however. I’ve got to dig up my tin even though I haven’t had any more luck identifying the scents.

@volunge we need a 3rd nose on this!

What is the non menthol A+S like? Not that I can get it here in the USA even ordering online, but was curious.

According to the description on the manufacturer’s website, it is flavoured with peppermint:

Wow, I’ve been to their site but never saw that. Peppermint doesn’t jump out, at all, but I can see that. There’s still some weird stuff goin on.
