I enjoy fruity snuffs. But most of the snuffs I have tried do not last that long. Menthol snuffs seem to last a little longer. So the question is, which fruit snuff has a scent that will last longer than 5 minutes?
The following are single flavor snuffs and generally last 10-15 min for me:
Toque Pomegranate, Peach and Raspberry
Wilson’s Peach Melba
McChrystal’s Raspberry
The intensity diminishes over time, but a walk out in the fresh air usually gives it a boost. I also find these are better enjoyed in the morning or early afternoon.
For something more complex, Old Mill has things like Melba’s Toast, Limoncello, Suzette, Lambic, etc, etc. These last a bit longer. They all tend to make my nose run pretty quickly though, so sometimes a follow up dose is needed.
The longest lasting ones I’ve experienced so far are the Schmalzlers. Bernard Doppelt Fermentiert, Aecht Altbayerischer and Poschl Sudfrucht are what I’ve tried. They all have very complex, stewed fruit aromas that last 30 min or more.
I’m sure your mileage will vary.
If you want something long lasting but floral, try some Friborg and Treyer snuffs. I took some Dr JR Justice about 6 months ago and I think I can still smell it!
I agree with many of the above mentioned recommendations. I’d also like to draw attention to Bernard’s Magic Moments, a terrific fruit snuff that I have found to linger for a long time, and quite a pleasing scent.
I found McChrystal’s Apricot to last longer than most fruit snuffs, and there’s no menthol in it.
I tried my first Bernard snuff today (Zweifacher). It is fruity with a hint of menthol, and the scent lingers for at least 15 minutes… then changes to… beef jerky? Pretty weird, but I love it. There’s a few other fruit snuffs that I like, but can’t say they last longer that 5 minutes. I consider bubblegum to be closely related to fruit, and Buzz lasts a while.
Bernard’s Brasil Dopelt Fermentiert seems to smell for about 20 minutes but the only one I’ve tried that just does not leave my nose for what seems like hours is Toque’s USA Peach. It’s a bit too oily for me and the scent is awesome but it lasts almost too long.
In general, I don’t enjoy florals, but the following has a special kind of enmity from me… Toque Violet, it lasted for over 24 hours and I couldn’t get rid of it, no matter what I tried.
I find that most of the De Kralingse Molens snuff last very long. Snuffs like Latakia Ao 1860, A/P, Musinotabak or Son de Tonca easily stay with me for 45 mins. Sometimes even longer.
Dholakia Blueberry Mint will last a long time you don’t need much. I often mix it to calm it down.Dholakia Plum cake is fruity and last awhile longer. If you’re looking for a floral Dholakia Rose Chocolate will last for days. Samuel Gawith Aniseed if you like black liquorice. This will ghost a wooden snuff box.
6 photo special for me is extensive
Poeschl Schmalzlers have an ever-lasting scent. I have to blow my nose before the scent diminishes. Indian snuffs with menthol are a close second. 41P Himataj, Golden Himtaj and 6P Super Chetak all have a nicely lasting scent.
I remember taking a generous hit of 6 Photo Kailash before bed and then smelling it for HOURS the next morning. I’d say black Indian snuffs take the cake in longevity of scent.
Haven’t a TRUE Schmalzler, but I’ve found the Bernard’s Amostrinha, Zweifacher, and Fitchtennadel hold things down for quite some time as well.
(Also, I’d been on the fence about finally trying some De Kralingse and I think Mynheer’s endorsement has pushed me over)
Great you’re going to give them a try @Shavasana. It’s excellent snuff.
Samuel Gawith Celtic Talisman lasts forever, Cherry with hint of vanilla, if you like fruity snuffs…and still has a great tobacco base.
F&T Seville
I second @Trackerdex with Celtic Talisman and will add Firedance to the list. Both are great snuffs with long lasting fruit scents.
For long term staying power, I like:
6 Photo Special,
6 Photo Kailash,
De Kralingse Latakia Ao 1860,
a Schmalzler (I can go with either Bernard or Poschl),
Poschl President.
The thing is… some of them get your nose running, so you need enough to linger but not enough to flush out your head!
I agree, 6 Photo Kailash will last as long as it’s left in your nose, maybe forever?
anyways, it’s nice but very strong scent-wise, at least for me
Oddly the beer flavored one from Bernards leaves the scent of a kegger in my nose for a solid hour. Most things heavily scented I no longer use due to the raging headache I get within seconds of using them.
Any 5 Photo snuff. Enuff to gag the next day!.
Last night I had a nice pinch of Abraxas Dragun. About 30-40 min later I did a nasal flush with a NeilMed bottle while settling down for the night. Amazingly I was still noticing the Dragun scent while reading in bed.
“So the question is, which fruit snuff has a scent that will last longer than 5 minutes?”. Poschl Edel Frucht has menthol and is strong with the fruit scent and lasts a good while.
I am all about 6 Photo but they are not fruit snuffs. Sorry for being so P.C. although the thread title is misleading.
I think 6 Photo Kailash lasts forever…take in the late afternoon and it is still lingering the next morning, even with other snuffs taken in the meantime. Crazy.
@Trackerdex, I must agree with you about SG Celtic Talisman. It really lasts a long time. Yesterday I took a pinch before going to bed. When I woke up somewhere halfway through the night, the scent was still there and even when I got up this morning it was still cherries everywhere.
Despite finding fresh air to be the key component in sustaining the duration of all aromas (as advised), I’m finding F&T Bordeaux, WoW Best Dark, 6 Photo Kalish and Bernard Fichtennadel to have particularly long legs.
That said, all 7 of my Old Mill snuffs appear to be outlasting anything else I’ve tried, whether I’m inside or out. It’s taking a bit of getting used to, because I don’t experience the initial hit that I would with other snuffs, but the hit is far more subtle, intricate and complex. It just keep going and going and going, revealing layer upon layer of aromas, significantly increasing the time between re-dosing.
