What if they did ban ALL tobacco products?

ever hear of “Going Postal”?

@ukiceman That would be a misnomer.

Well banning anything - from booze to drugs - achieves precisely nothing so you need have no fear that you wouldn’t be able to get snuff anymore - it would just cost more. I expect there are people who would like it banned just to give it a frisson of danger… I could buy any drug I wanted in a few minutes (I emphasise that I don’t, I just know the process) snuff would just fall in with a whole bunch of others.

I hope that if anything like that happened here, I would hope I took the opportunity to get rich quick! There is already so much tobacco smuggling going on in the UK as the tax is so high. When I spent a couple of years working in factories went the entire time without ever buying any tobacco in a shop. People brought over a load from France, Belgium or Spain and managed to flog it for half the price it is here. My favourite was the burger van on an industrial estate, it went something like “Do you have any spare tobacco?”, and she would go “Well I think I have a spare pack of my own, I can sell it to you if you are desperate”, every week! It is so widespread that if they lowered the tax, they would probably collect more. The thought of capitalising for a couple of years on the unbelievably lucrative black market that a tobacco ban would create makes my mouth water, and is exactly why, as snuffster says, banning it is absolutely pointless.

it’d be time for a tobacco party. a revolution. it’s ok to outlaw crimes to but to outlaw a human beings innocent pleasure? naw, it’d be time for violence and blood in the streets.

There’s no way they’d do that - far too much money would be lost, but if they did, I probably have enough snuff to last me a couple of decades.

I hear you cstokes. The whole discussion is ludicrous and leads to paranoia. When I was a teenager it was easier for me to get marijuana than it was to get alcohol. A lot easier. I think you know which one was the legal drug and which one wasn’t. Regulation coupled with education is always more effective than prohibition.

I got an email from the Newport cigarette people yesterday and they said that in the US, the FDA is trying to ban menthol cigarettes. They wanted me to send the FDA comments about why they shouldn’t ban them. I don’t think I will comment because I do not have a nice way of saying to them why they shouldn’t as it is completely ridiculous to ban menthol cigarettes or any other type of tobacco. It’s kind of like the New York NY limit on how much soda you can buy that they tried a while back, very infringent on people’s civil and human rights imo, lol. My point is, if this ban goes through, it does not look good for snuff or any tobacco for that matter in the US in the future because i think they are testing this out to get a response from the people to try and judge what might happen if they banned all tobacco in the US because you know the government would love to do something like that for whatever ridiculous reason, maybe it’s just to feel like they have absolute powa lol. Anyway, you guys maybe should send your comments to the FDA if you can politely tell them why they shouldn’t ban any tobacco products just be sure NOT to mention snuff because it’s still a little known thing.

If they banned all tobacco products I’d be here every day hoping for good news about Rederick’s experiments with tomato leaf snuff!

No worries here, already have a stash put away big enough to last the rest of my life…and maybe a couple lives.

I’d grow my own in my back yard. I doubt tobacco would ever be banned the same way marijuana is it’d probably be a misdemeanor to grow it and nobody would know what it was.

I think I’d survive with my “cellar” contents. When tobacco is outlawed only outlaws will have tobacco

Who would pay all the sin tax they collect? No tobacco is a money maker for the tax man. But the invisible government pulls the string and if they want to ban something all the votes wouldn’t change a thing.

I would stock up for the foreseeable future. Good thing about snuff is it would be the cheapest tobacco product to stock up on. I was also look into growing and making my own. I highly doubt they’d ever do that though. They’d lose too much on taxes to even make it worth it.

I read that New Zealand will ban cigarettes in 2020 http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c\_id=1&objectid=10622940 I can see it happening in the EU as well with the shower of do-gooders and loonies we have ‘representing us’ in Brussels.

The day they ban tobacco is the day our leaders meet our old friend La Guillotine

The day they ban tobacco is the day our leaders meet our old friend La Guillotine

I like where you are going with that one!

The day they ban tobacco is the day our leaders meet our old friend La Guillotine

Problem is, that the majority of the people is just as ignorant. They don’t care about personal freedom. Unless the EU tries to ban licorice pipes… Denmark was prepared to leave the Union if the ban passed

Please no comments that encourage paranoia in others. The OP was out of line. As to the post that reopened this thread, there has been discussion of a menthol cigarette ban for quite some time ever since it was shown that menthol cigarettes are more addictive, though not more harmful. Anyway thats another topic altogether, and not really related to snuff. Topic now closed.
