@lunecat Can you please translate “swotty” to American? Usually I get or know Brit idiomatic words, or guess from context. That’s one I’ve not heard before. :-??

@Xander If I may tread on @Lunecat’s toes (or claws!), a swot is a slang term for someone, usually a school kid, who is very intelligent and interested in their studies at the expense of ‘cooler’ activities. The American equivalent would probably be a nerd or geek, I guess. I don’t think it was meant to be quite as insulting as swot is intended in a playground situation.

Thanks, @Bizzle. Anyway, a good article, and very nice that we get a mention. I’ll retitle this thread and put it in our library. I suppose that would be an accurate use of the word “swotty”, then. Certainly many of us are, lets say, “enthusiastic” about our hobby.

Does anyone actually eat snuff, or is that something the Brits say to scare children? “One moah faahking wuhd out o’ you lot and it’s nuffink but Kendow Brown for your suppuh!” [In my head all Brits sound like Ray Winstone, and yes that includes the Queen]

Thanks for the link @SnuffH3ad. Adding snuff as a seasoning is a new one, haven’t even thought about it. Maybe someone should try it and report the results. I’m going to pass on that one!

Actually, I wasn’t sure what to make of it.

It’s a good article, I like how the writer didn’t say anything favorable or unfavorable really about it and remained neutral without fueling any debates over it’s safety and creating a big thing of it. The mention of us here at snuffhouse was pretty cool as well.
