Having been avoiding purchasing snuff after spending £75 on the Mr Snuff site during its closure, I couldn’t help but dive in on the Wilson’s half-price offer on their new website. My purchases are displayed below: (half pound tubs were a few pennies cheaper than full pound tubs surprisingly, and considering the size of the offer, and my wonderful lack of current employment, I think I’ll need as many pennies as possible in future.) What did everybody else order in this wonderful promotion?

Well I only ordered about half of what I wanted because, for the USA, after 3 pounds total weight the site quits letting you order, and the shipping is killer expensive. Considering canceling mine!! Not a great first experiance with them I tell you, although I do appreciate the offer. I did not enjoy the experience of removing beloved snuffs from my cart until the shipping responded again, no one should have to pick and chose like that! Lets see, do I throw out the HDT #22, or the Grand Cairo, maybe the gold label, Oh, and the SP Silver is by 12 tin case only, Hmm. Shipping & Handling £ 23.50!

Well, that´s pretty much the same shipping I´d paid for larger orders from the States. Which is why I didn´t order too often. Would be interesting how shipping will change at Mr. Snuff and Nic Rush, once they´re operating from the UK.

Am I missing something regarding the shipping costs? Okay, Here is my order 1/2lb drums Extra Crumbs of Comfort Raspberry Large Tins Grand Cairo Vanilla Ice Honey Menthol Irish High Toast SP2 And, I figured since i was paying for shipping anyway I would get another snuff box. I love the Wilson’s boxes. They are a little bulky, but they hold so much you can take them on trips and know you are covered. Anyway, after placing orders before with Snuff store and Rajeks in the past, I thought the shipping was a fair deal (~15 USD for 1.2lbs of snuff). Now I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and hope this payment thing works out.

I will now be entirely prepared for a snuffpocalypse.

Large tins: Tom Buck, Irish ‘D’ High Toast, Strasbourg, Royal George. This will go into the freezer where I don’t have any more room for snuff. Medium tins: Lemon Grove, ChocolateOrange, Best SP, French Carotte, Morlaix, Princes, Thyme & Lemon and Rose of Sharrow. This is all new to me and that’s why I ordered medium tins. Snuff was 18.24 pounds less disc= 9.16 pounds plus 6.00 pounds shipping = Total 15.08 pounds / R177.64. I’m happy.

Just want to test everything out, been snuffing for almost 4 months and settled on a few snuffs but still looking for a few varieties that I can enjoy snuffing occasionally. It’s bizarre - I’ve been paying by Mastercard over the phone for years but the website won’t accept it.

I couldn’t get a shipping calculation for over 2.5 lbs., which is a pity. Came away with a pound of SP Best, a pound of Rose, and a half pound of Lavender; had to drop the pound of Grand Cairo, the half-pound of Apricot, and about twelve tins. I don’t know what sense that makes. I’m trying to give them money and they’re putting a limit on how much money I can give them. Clearly, they believe they have too much money already; therefore, they should give their extra money to me! I will accept snuff, too

As they´ve told me, Mastercard informed them at the very last moment, that they don´t accept transactions for tobacco products. So Mastercard knows better than me, how to spend my money, which is interesting. Have to work out, how to let them know what I think of their “care” for me. Anyway, payment with Mastercard is working, you just have to chose the other payment option and they´ll get in touch with you. The discount offer is still good for 4 hours.

4lb Irish High Toast (went for the slightly pricier 1lb drums as I figured the shrink wrapping might keep it a bit fresher) 1lb Honey Menthol 1/2 lb Lemon Grove Large tins of Royal George (revisiting an old friend), SS and SP2 (haven’t tried either of these yet). I’ve bought two half drums in the past, one had shrink wrap, the other did not.

@cstokes4: Did they both have the screw cap ? My order arrived a couple of hours ago - none of the 1/2 lb tubs were shrink wrapped.

Yep, both are opaque-clear tubs with white screw caps.

Well drat and damn. Cost me $0.98 to mail the cashiers check that cost me $7. That bumps the cost per gram of my order up to around $0.072. hehehe (-; Really would be nice though if Wilsons could find it in their heart of hearts to change to a CC processor that didn’t have issue with US cards. As Xander notes, Toque, snuff.me.uk seem to be able to accept them.

Received 1/2 lb drum of #22 yesterday (no shrink wrap) have another order for 2 lb of #22 still to be delivered.

Received 1 drum yesterday in an envelope and the other 6 today in a parcel. Well, and as a coincidence I also received 2 I´d ordered at snuffstore.de 2 weeks ago. It´s an incredible pile now. Anyhow, none of those 9 0,5lb drums was wrapped.

. I havent received any snuff yet, but today I got a letter from the customs which requested some data about that order from wilsons. It seems that they didnt add a bill to the parcel. I also think that maybe they didnt use one of those green forms to describe whats inside, because the customs now think its snus, so I have to pay taxes, which I never had to do on snuff before. So it seems they didnt really know what they were doing…

That’s not good! Hope you can work things out and not get stuck paying a big bill. What state are you from?

Well, I ordered large tins of: Best SP, Irish ‘D’ High Toast, Tom Buck, Crumbs of Comfort, Extra Crumbs of Comfort, Honey Menthol, Vanilla Ice, Grand Cairo, Brunswick, Burgundy, Kendal Brown, Princes, Apricot, Lemon Grove, Rose of Sharrow, Rum & Blackberry, Menthol Plus I have never tried any of these, so it will be another adventure. I also ordered a nice clay pipe (never tried one before). It was so cheap, I couldn’t resist. At worst I won’t like it and it will go into my little collection with the briar pipes (hopefully the briars and the clay will get along…). I had a lot of problems with my Visa card - dopey Visa neither accepted nor declined the charge, but it was listed as a charge on my online Visa statement. They couldn’t tell me why, and it didn’t apply towards my total, so it was canceled and I had to phone in a credit card (Mastercard) to Wilsons. Not Wilson’s fault - it was all on Visa. They didn’t have a problem with it being tobacco (Visa doesn’t care), just that it was me trying to order something online. At least I got to speak to a nice lady at Wilson’s. Too bad about the 8 hour time difference - phoning isn’t that much fun at 1:00 am. So now I will see how Canada Customs treats me this time. They brutally, violently assaulted me on my Toque order and I am not looking forward to the prospect of a repeat performance. I wonder if they actually target certain people? I seem to have a lot of nasty Customs experiences…and I am so polite to them and such a nice guy. Humph!

I’ll talk to them. I’am told I sound like a lawyer when I talk to offical type people. Some reason that often seems to find a loop-hole all by itself. Odd really.

intresting, i just found out that they changed the law, so snuff gets hit with 5% of the retail price, thats ok i think. what does suck indeed is that they charge 45 CHF (about 40$) just for opening a package. well my order was only about 20 so ill be charged with a bill of about 45.1 CHF in which the .1 are the taxes for the snuff. lol.

Wait a second–they charge you when THEY open YOUR stuff? What a racket! They must have consulted Tony Soprano on that one. Not that der Zoll is much better in the US; when I get a package seized, I get a letter saying that if I pay them five hundred (!) big ones, they will allow me to fight to get my stuff from them. If I pay them five hundred PLUS the dollar value of the stuff, they will give me the stuff and I may fight for the money back. There must be something inherently shady about all customs agencies…

I got my snuff. Payed 70$ taxes. (actually 6 bucks VAT and around 20 Tobacco tax and 45 bucks just for taxing it…) Jup I just now payed 350% taxes. which boosts my little 20$ order up to around 100$. Even with the 50% from wilsons that still is plain rob. Might be my last snuff order till I actually run out of everything, which will probably never happen. Fu**. But well at least I got my snuff now. If my math is right i just payed 0.25$/g. Bleh. Switzerland is taking money from me alright…

If that happens to me, it will be a return to sender and a refund.

We also have to pay customs for opening our parcels. The guy was very nice and explained to me that R25.00 is a “handling fee” and should not be seen as tax!! The actual tax is “only” 64%.
