I know Poschl adds parafine oil to their snuff to regulate the moisture level. And I heard a rumour some manufactures add ammonia and use baking soda. But what is true and what is really added (including any chemicals in the sauce for scenting). (Cigs get added chemicals to increase the nic uptake and so uplifting the addiction level.) @mods could not find a simiral thread, plz close this one if I’m wrong.

For what reason did you add salt and sodium carbonate?
Mainly because they stop it going mouldy! Helps with the nic uptake as well.

Whatever humectants they’re using in German snuffs, they clog the hell out of my nose. Which is a real shame because I like them a lot, but I can’t take more than a few pinches a day.

I don’t want to answer for Roderick, and I can’t find the relevant post now, but I’m sure he said that he doesn’t. I seem to remember him saying that he varies nicotine content and delivery only by varying the amounts of leaf and stem material. @Roderick, please tell me to shut up if I’ve got this wrong!

As you probably are aware our snuff is 100% natural with 100% natural flavours and no additives. How we raise and lower nicotine levels are by removing stalk and stem from the grind. The lower the stems the higher the nicotine level.

as i have mentioned earlier somewhere on this forum,we use paraffin oil,limewater and a combination of Indian spices, natural f and some artificial flavors in our snuffs. The flavor list is a trade secret and obviously cannot be disclosed The tobacco blend and the flavor sauce varies for each type of snuff.

Fair enough @Roderick. They are certainly natural minerals, I don’t think of them as adding flavor though, menthol excepted obviously.
