Ok, so there are a plethora of snuffs to try. The sheer amount of snuff out there is staggering. It makes me wonder, of all of them which are your staples? Which snuffs do you purchase again and again and again?

J

For me (I am new to snuff too) Viking Dark was my first big bulk buy. I will be making large bulk purchases of Toque USA Whiskey & Honey and Berwick Brown at some point soon too, as well as F&T High Dry Toast. F&T bulk on mrsnuff has to be ordered separately by the way you cannot order it with any non-bulk purchases. You might want to check out the thread “What’s your top five” as well.

H

Yea, viking dark for me too. Also schmalzlers ate getting to be that way. Other than that most snuffs are just to mix it up

C

Currently the snuffs I intend to never be without are Toque SP Extra, Toque Berwick Brown, F&T Old Paris, WoS Tom Buck, WoS Best Dark. Some recent candidates for this list are WoS IHT no. 22, WoS Grand Cairo and Viking Dark. I love having a huge variety, but these listed have become my staples.

C

Viking Dark is my #1 followed closely By Toque Natural Toast and now USA Whiskey and Honey - a 200g bag of that should be getting to me this week.

Here are the ones I don’t want to be without. The ones I would consider primary snuffs are in bold. The rest are not necessarily ones I would use all day or every day, but ones I would miss if I couldn’t get them again. Toque Berwick Brown , Coarse Plain GH Ambassador , Cherry, Dry Orange, KB Plain F&T Princes , Princes Special, Santa Domingo, Old Paris WoS Brunswick, Best Dark , Thyme and Lemon, Spearmint Plus SG Elmos Reserve, Celtic Talisman , Kendal Brown, London Brown, Black Coffee, Hazlenut, Firedance Jaxons English Toffee, SP Premium M&W Jocks Choice Viking Dark , Brown, Thors Hammer

B

F&T HDT only because I had yet to get it in bulk. 6 photo Kailash, Special, Anarkali 41 Photo White Elephant & Dholakia White Toque Rustica fine Plain american scotch These are my meat & potatoes. All the rest of my stash is desserts

L

6 Photo no.66, Super Kailash, Anarkali & Kailash F&T Patchouli

B

WoS Best SP and F&T Santo Domingo. I’m a fairly conservative guy in terms of my habits, so once I find something I like, I tend to stick with it. I’ll try other stuff occasionally, but usually the new stuff never knocks the established favorites off their pedestals. Also, the fact that I was born in Nether Edge, almost literally spitting distance from Sharrow Mills, there’s also a tradition component to it. Not that I would dismiss a WoS competitor out of hand, but I suspect the quality and the experience of another company’s snuff would have to blow me away before I was to switch.

H

I switch it up alot throughout the day (as it seems most here do), but I do keep a seperate, smaller, more ornate wooden box of my “essentials”. Right now it contains: WE Garrett Scotch Plain WoS IHT no 22 Dholakia White NB Madras (to be replaced with the next best Madras I can find when it eventally runs out) SS Cafe Noire (which I initially disliked, enough to start a thread about it. Embarassing.) Samuel Gawith Blue Crest, and 6Photo Kailash (my new daily nightcap) Everything else I keep in a large shoebox or in the freezer. Oh, and Bernards Aecht Altbayerischer would make the list if they ever started selling it in anything larger than a 10g tapper. Easy to take, rich but mellow flavor that goes great with coffee, and substantial nicotine content, this would be my staple morning snuff. As it is, though, this tapper won’t last a week even using it just in the morning, and I payed nearly four bucks for it.

H

I’ve been snuffing for four years now but I’m still not quite at the point of a stable of staples. I wish I could settle on just five that I could buy in great bulk, with five snuff-boxes to match, and keep the rest of my snuffs in storage and have only one or two of those open at a time. White Elephant is definitely one of the five and I do buy it in great bulk. SG KB Original, WoS Best SP, F&T Santo Domingo, WoS Brunswick, Hedges, Dholakia Black, F&T Old Paris, and some sort of toast (I’m zero’ing in on one of the WoS toasts but haven’t decided which I like the best) these are the snuffs that are strong contenders to fill the remaining four slots, but I keep finding new snuffs (like Brunswick came out of left field for me, and I didn’t used to like menthols).

J

Something from Old Mill is at the top of my list ( specific varieties in rotation ) Sternecker Schmalzler F&T HDT 41P White Elelphant these I have to have, all the rest ( SWS, Toque, F&T and various other brands ) are in normal rotation for sure and are greatly enjoyed but the above 4 I find using the most and buying in bulk or large size

B

Snuff has complicated my life. Use to be a big rub of Red Seal Winergreen Long Cut and I was good to go. Now I am like a kid in a candy store, I don’t know what to do with myself. I tell you what I get back to seriously answering your question when I grew up!

S

F&T Santo Domingo and JR Justice; De Kralingse Mississippi, Limburgertabak and Mettaijer. But lots to try including too many from Old Mill!

J

In order to survive the apocalypse, these three in this order: 1. WoS Jockey Club 2. WoS Tom Buck 3. Sternecker Echt Fresko

S

Well I have had something like three staple snuffs for the past half a year: WoS Rose WoS Jockey Club WoS Best SP And to a lesser extend: WoS Best Dark Added to this is now: WoS IHT #22 I agree with @Hitsuzen, if they ever start to sell Bernard in Bulk, they will become staple. At the moment they are out of my regular reach financially. Also WoS, because I started to go through their range when I still got money.

D

It may seem a little odd, but my staple everyday snuff is WoS French Carotte. For some reason, I find this snuff really easy to take. It doesn’t burn too bad if I accidentally sniff too hard. It must be something to do with the base tobacco. It is very light in color, and must be a different formulation to the majority of WoS snuffs. Nicotine is medium, but I find that I absorb plenty, because it doesn’t make my nose run or induce sneezing, so it stays in place better for me. I like the (sandalwood?) flavor, but I wish there were more flavors using this base tobacco blend. WoS: please make a rose snuff using this tobacco!

I hear you Banjo, I’ve noticed lately that every hour i’m onto a new can. I’ve started keeping 2 or 3 in my briefcase. F&T Old Paris in the morning as I ease into my day, WOS #22 or HDT throughout, Viking Dark in the late afternoon with black coffee, WOS Aniseed Extra at some point to clean me out, and a Schmaltzer before bed. for some reason that sweet german stuff gives me crazy dreams. Oh, and with a bowl of pipe tobacco snuck in there somewhere at least once a day.

Z

I’ll be without my coveted American Plain snuffs before long. But I believe that of those I can still get, albeit at a higher price and from a greater distance away, the one snuff I would certainly want to not be without would be Bernard’s Aecht Altbayerischer Schmalzler.

C

The ones I always have to hand are:

SWS Field of Junipers
Toque SP Extra
Toque USA Whiskey & Honey

All the others have either been decanted and stored in glass jars or - in the case of the “artisan” snuffs - stored in an airtight box in my fridge.

H

I’m down to 2 essentials:

6 Photo Special

6 Photo Kailash

The rest of 'em are in my freezer and have been for a LONG time.

M

My current staples are Toque W&H, SG Menthol Brown, Toque Quit, SG Jockey Club(??!!), Covent Mature Crumbled, Dholakia Sparrow Cool. They change every month according to the weather. Its hot now, so menthols cool me down. But in reality, I like all my snuffs, and I rotate all them. OOps, forgot to mention Molen’s St Omer, and Son de Tonca!

H

Toque Rustica fine
D. White
Bruton Scotch (any scotch)
a mix that I make of all my cigars tips
Toque Peanut Butter Toast
J.H. Wilson Top No. 1
a mix I made of Crystal Vision with Peanut Butter Toast and Rustica
OM Perfecto
(and okay I’ll admit it) Cheese & Bacon

That’s what tends to be on my desk top. For everything else I have travel down the hall to cpmcdill’s office for pinches.

M

@haemony - Please forgive this question if I’m mis-interpreting you comments; but, does this make you Mrs McDill?

M

^^^ @haemony - Second virtual ‘insightful’ of the evening! Fits now; forgive my curiously though.

S

That’s awesome.  I’m waiting for the day my better half asks to try my snuff - not holding my breath.

B

dragun menthol is my go too snuff actually.

M

Spanish Gem, Kailash, Viking Dark, at the moment. The Spanish Gem spot has been occupied by HDT, and the Kailash one by Fichtennadel, but my nose seems to have changed since those times.

C

Bernard Fichtennadel, Red Bull Strong, Jungle Fever Mango menthol.

S

SG Kendal Brown & Elmo’s Reserve. WoS Crumbs of Comfort & Tom Buck Viking Brown & Dark

C

I always carry McC O&G and either WoS SS or No. 21. Can’t leave home without them

B

The Indian Whites (Dholakia White and White Elephant)

B

Just a thought but that would be a great band name

C

De Kralingses AP. I do not know what I will do if I ever run out. My 2nd favorite is gonna be Bernards Virginia Dark Gekachelter. Then maybe a Sterneker… But I cant remember which one I have been using… And any of Bernards Non fruity, Non menthol tap boxes… There is a bunch I find similar but with variations… Basically I love schmalzlers… it would appear.

S

@coreymillia, do you like the Poeschl Schmalzler? They are easier to sample in bulk.

C

@SkeG Well… honestly I have not tried any in the bags. I dont know why I always skipped out.  Its kind of disappointing actually… Now I will have to get on that. Sometime in the future.

S

First post here. New to the fantastic, tantalizing world of tobacco nasal snuff. Thus far my favorite/staple snuffs are as follows (in no particular order): Buzz Bubble Gum Toque Cheese & Bacon WoS IHT #22 6 Photo Super Kailash F.U.B.A.R. Medic Ozona President Toque Spanish Gem What a fun and satisfying hobby. Lots and lots of interesting varieties out there to try. -Sniffles

S

@coreymillia, you gotta add them to your cart. I promise you won’t be disappointed

H

@MisterPaul  Sorry for the late reply. I don’t mind at all. Questions are fine with me. I always have the option of not answering them.

@SeanOCDPx  Snuff is something C.P. and I got into together. We both smoked and other things when we were younger but had quit long ago. He smoked cigs and I smoked a pipe. When we met we were both teatotaling non-smoking vegetarians but we got up to all kinds of nonsense together. Meat, Scotch, Tobacco… We are a good influence on each other!

B

Hedges L260 “the snuff” McCHrystals O&G WOS Crumbs of Comfort And for now the Paul Goatard Gooseberry, because I bought 10 out of 1000 bottles produced, only 3 left for sale in existence that I know, and if I put enough money on the magic money card I’ll be getting those too, mwhahahaha

C

If God didn’t want us to eat animals he wouldn’t have made them out of meat.

M

SG Black Rappee, SG Menthol Brown, WoS SP all types, Toque Quit, Toque Strawberry, All Viking types, All Indian types. Its seasonal for sure. Thats my late summer/ fall list.

J

@chefdaniel, hahaha! it’s true.

O

Magnet Menthol, haven’t got used to how terrible it actually is, cheap and available, and high in nic. Smells like burned tire. Thinking of moving somewhere where there’s decent snuff
