What Are Your Second-Tier, Rotation Snuffs?

We probably all have one or two snuffs that are our everyday go-tos, but also a few that we keep in rotation for variety. Mine are Toque Bourbon and Whisky & Honey, Toffee and Vanilla, any of the Toque fruit flavors, the new F&T Patchouli, SG Vanilla. Those are the main ones anyway. How about you? How often do you bring other flavors into rotation - daily, every few days, what? Just curious. I’m still a total newbie with snuff and every day is a new experience for me. I never get tired of looking through my collection and picking out something I haven’t used for a while, but that I totally enjoy.

I’m an all day, every day SP user, with occasional HDT days. What I do have as rotation snuffs are a bunch that I use as flavourings, usually just a touch, not enough to really call them blends. So, these are Toque vanilla Wos carnation SG zip - used with HDT to replicate the long gone, much missed (by me anyway) Wit and Wisdom from Gallahers. Roderick said once he was going to make a medicated HDT but I’m still waiting. If you’ve not tried menthol with HDT give it a go, just a mere hint. Royal George Dholakia now and then

My big three are menthol, toasts and scotches. I found that I also really enjoy Toque’s Absinthe and Cotton boll snuff. I need to make a big order of the Absinthe because it’s starting to be on of my everyday snuff flavour. Cotton boll snuff is just down right strong. There is very little (imo) that is as strong.

Cotton ball?

@bipolarbear1968, can you describe Cotton boll for me? Sounds intriguing. @snuffster, I will try adding a little menthol to my HDT to see what you describe. That sounds good too. I’ve gotten used to the idea that a little menthol can really brighten up the flavors of snuff. I’ll give that a try.

I’m just guessing that this is an American Scotch, as Boll is the term for an un processed ‘ball’ of cotton…basically what you see on the plant before it’s been harvested. Seems logical since cotton is a huge US cash crop, but I have been wrong before…MANY times…lol!!!

Cotton boll is a tobacco twist that is air cured and believe it was made for chewing. I buy it online at Lil Brown’s smoke shack.

Wrong on the scotch part…imagine that, but it is at least American right?

@FischTix It is American. Other members here use it as well. (I’m looking at you, Pieter)

Just checked out Cotton Boll, still sounds intriguing but the price put me off! I must be looking at it wrong or something, but $34 for twelve chews is a bit stiff for my pocket. Zowee! Must be some righteous stuff.

@bipolarbear Thanks…i’m gonna have to look into getting some…i like a good chaw every now n again. I’d have to say anything Dholakia would be my daily rotation…followed by Toque WnH, Bourbon, and Toast N Marmalade for my second tier. Third would be just anything in my collection that I have a craving for.

@ddavelarsen It’s actually pretty cheap. A box of 12 would last you a long time. Cstokes and Sprangalang have used it as well. pretty stout stuff.

You’re convincing me. I may have to give that stuff a try. I like a good stout chew once in a while.

@FischTix @ddavelarsen As a chew, it will knock you on your ass. I find it rather nasty and bland to chew, too strong for a pipe and excellent as snuff.

So @bipolarbear1968, your grind it up to make snuff? That sounds like a grand idea too. How big are the twists?

@ddavelarsen They were bigger than I thought! I bought a box of 12 back in January, when they had free shipping for that month. I ended up cutting all my twists into plugs and It filled 4 medium size mason jars to the rim. I bought a new 10 dollar coffee grinder and made snuff. Talk about moist and coarse with a slow, strong nicotine hit! yikes! Do a search on cotton boll within this forum and read other member’s reactions :

Wow, okay the twists are big! I’ll do that search and see what turns up. This is an interesting conversation. It got me going to make some snuff today, got a pile of RYO tobacco drying in the oven as we speak. I’m going to take a shot at making some cinnamon snuff today. We’ll see how it goes after a couple weeks packed away, eh? Meanwhile will check into the Cotton Boll, which sounds very interesting. Good stuff!

I like this thread, we don’t often discuss out second tier snuffs. Mine are - a toast, usually whatever I have in but toque original or hdt are my choice ones. Could not use this all day, though I used to. Now use a toast as a ‘freshner’. The other is one of Sam gawiths rappees - London brown when I have it. Too heavy for an all day snuff, for me, but one of the best tasting plain snuffs ever.

I think my favorite toast so far is WoS IHT No 22; it was the first I bought and still is my favorite. It has all the tobaccoey goodness plain snuffs are known for and not too bad of burn when I take it with care. Nice nic hit comes on swiftly for me too, which is nice when I find myself hankering for a smoke but not wanting to smoke. The more I snuff, the less I care about smoking, which is really nice. Okay, @Mopey, you talked me into it; time for a lil toast this afternoon!

Sounds like some enjoy Cotton Boll in a cob pipe too. I have an old one, that might be worth a try as well. Hm.
