brought in the house plants before frost hits
last minute gathering of necessities before day 1 of a new job tomorrow.
Last day of my work week. (Not that I’ll get any rest on the days off, mind you!)
Same here @WWhermit, worked 6 of the last 7 nights, realllly looking forward to a couple of nights off.

Yup. Make those few days off more precious.
moving metal and woodworking machinery out of the barn in preparation for replacing the floor and winterizing the old building.
Working
Preparing another batch of Potpourri No. 2 Jaap Bes.
Hurt my back.can hardly walk.hope it’s not serious, still have 15 years to work. should had signed up for Obama care :((
Bummer. You’ve got my sympathy, @basement_shaman, I did the same last week and I’ve got a couple of tons of machinery to move this week.
@basement_shaman Hope you’re better soon. Today I need to start work on the first assignment for the PhD that I started at the beginning of the month.
@basement_shaman 3 years ago I had a slipped disc. Took a few months to heal up on its own. And even now, if I do a lot of running/jumping it flares up. I feel your pain. Hopefully you just pulled a muscle.
Today, I’m not doing a damn thing. Laying around, playing Xbox, watching some colledge football. My work week starts bright and early tomorrow.
moved a lathe out of the barn while waiting for a batch of jewelry to finish burnishing in the tumbler, kept the help busy getting ready to open the store in a couple of weeks, never enough time…
Preparing orders. Jaap Bes
Im driving from the Forest of Dean to Tamworth and back tonight in the worst storm Britain has seen in years, good times!
Collecting pencils
Let’s hear it for harmless interests! I’m sorting bolts, nails, screws and assorted junk. Literally a ton of it, mostly going in the trailer the contractor left–“you got to empty out the barn before we start restoring it”.
I’m resting after party
Up on the roof sweeping the chimney… Fun fun fun.
I’m working. Working on Sunday should be a crime.
Im driving from the Forest of Dean to Tamworth and back tonight in the worst storm Britain has seen in years, good times!
Take care. Just read the BBC report and it sounds somewhat perilous.
I’ll take care, leaving at about 20.30, back about midnight if all goes well. Glad I had the new wet-weather tyres put on when I did!
Reorganizing my over flowing closet…fun times :-<
Sorting out Dads estate… What fun
Condolences, @Artman, you’ll feel lighter when it is done, but it’s no fun. That’s what I’m doing with both my mother’s estate and my father-in-law’s property. It’s an exercise in non-attachment.
Thanks @mouse Sorry to hear that your going through the same. It’s very surreal going through things you feel you shouldn’t. But thankfully I’m not doing it alone.
getting incredibly annoyed at facebook. they are saying my account was hacked and that i need to upload some forms of ID. but it wont let me upload the ID, it crashes and they give me an error every time. (ive checked, its not a phishing page or anything). im not sure how much longer i can hold on to a stable mental state considering these circumstances.
Patching the ceiling and other drywall work; need to move a ceiling electrical box so I can hang a ceiling fan on it. Had one originally then I move a wall to make my daughters bedroom larger. The mechanic house is the last to get worked on.I have no problem doing this for customers but for some reason working for me everything a pain in the butt.
There is only one thing for it then. You must invoice your daughter for the work.
lol
I am not dead! Made it to Tamworth and back, took nearly an hour longer than usual but wasn’t too bad, the main storm passed further south than us and just buggered up the south coast. My commiserations to anyone down there badly effected!
Just looking at the world edition of BBC news and found out that the NY City council has voted to raise the minimum age for buying cigarettes and electronic cigarettes to 21. The thin end of the wedge? What next. Banning the word tobacco because it offends non smokers? The possibilities are endless.
@London Jack If they want to stop young people buying stuff thats ‘bad’ for them why not ban McDonalds? I recommend everybody in the UK goes to the Forest website and signs up to the petition on there to stop the EU doing similarly stupid things. I thought this was a free county? America, land of the free? hmm…
Getting the little ones ready for trick ir treating tonight and preparing for Samhain celebrations afterwards. This is my favorite time of the year.
Pulled the wild tomatoes today, still bearing, still flowering even though they got nipped with a light frost last week. Three plants took over 1/4 of the garden and grew over 8’ .
Catching up on posts at my usual haunt (different forum, 7000 posts there), speaking to friends about this coming weekend’s bonfire party, researching vaping, and looking into arranging a brewery tour for me and a mate later in the month
trying to resist the temptation the new Nikon full-frame DSLR presents. It’ll take my old film camera lenses. Lord, protect me from my desires: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1013094-REG/nikon\\_1527\\_df\\_dslr\\_camera\\_with.html
firing up the sauna now that the weather has cooled off.
hanging out in a hotel room in quincy illinois usa. the wife is here doing a trial management position for a clothing store and I get to tag along. It sucks though, because there is no snuff here to be found! not even we garret! at least the last place we went for her trial management (springfield missouri) had Mr. Nose’s store and hookah lounge, and he sold a lot of SG, WoS, F&T and a few other brands. guess after that trip I was expecting another awesome find, but the only thing awesome here in this town is the very hot hotel whirlpool. oh well, at least her company pays for the hotel room. and on that note what im up to now is going to bed.
Out tearing up the roads on the quads. Been snowing all afternoon and the roads are well covered…ie not much chance of getting pulled over.
I’m making a website about my neighbourhood.
Just broke a rib (again, the damned thing isn’t healing well) and about to go lie down and play a game on my Toshiba tablet.
Considering booking a 4 day break for New Year, and preparing myself for a relative’s funeral tomorrow
@Mouse Take care my friend, I know that has to be extremely painful.
Changed the oil in my car, topped off the fluids, and repaired the heater. Aside from that it’s been a motor sports and snuffhouse kind of day. @Mouse That sounds painful. Get better soon!
shoveling snow from a surprise stowstorm #:-S
thanks for the get-well wishes. I’m used to it, broken the same ribs half a dozen times over the last 20 years (wiped out on a step ladder back then and they’ve been weak ever since). Getting old means not bouncing the way you did when you were in your teens.
Good luck @50ft_trad… can be tough at times… Have had several losses myself in past year including son and mother in law. You never forget, but it does get sort of easier after awhile.

Many thanks @stogie and sorry for your losses too. All went well, though probably my toughest one to date (Grandfather) and he had a good send off. It was anticipated, but that doesn’t make it easy. As he passed his mid 80’s, his body gradually started shutting down, but he still had all his faculties, and everything about his personality that made him wonderful all the way to the end. He will be missed, but never forgotten
Attempting to minimize the symptoms and pain of bronchitis that reared it’s ugly head yesterday!
Get well soon, @howdydave. How are you treating it (besides Kailash, lol)?
Finally launched my website. http://nawyzynach.bydgoszcz.pl/
After work I have to go Christmas shopping, so I’ll be spending the day fighting my way through hordes of crazy bitches that are grabbing everything that’s on sale.
A good day to set up the 'ol tree, clear out the garage and maybe have a nice cigar…
Just got back from a clay pigeon shooting and axe throwing day with my brother
^ clay shooting and axe throwing, sounds like a fun day
It was excellent. It was nice just to have a day out with my little brother, the clays and hawk chucking were the icing on top
We had our first major snowfall of the year, about 25cm. so I’m about to shovel the driveway and sidewalks.
@Mouse sorry for you, pain suks . I am just doing the weekly laundry
thanks, basement_shaman. De nada, only hurts now when I do something stupid, I do try to emulate Lee Marvin, if somewhat unsuccessfully, in the classic cowboy movie where he grabs his bowie knife and digs a slug out of his leg, lol. I think it was called ‘The Oxbow Incident’. Made a big impression on me when I was a kid. Today is my usual routine of laundry, cat box, trash to the dump, internet reading, and a little bench work in the shop to feel I accomplished something. And now to head off to the kitchen to chop some onions and garlic for a big pot of chile, augmented with mushrooms, shredded cabbage, broccoli stems, carrots and whatever other leftover vegetables we can find.
Christmas shopping done!now got the wood burner going and enjoying some more snuff.got the week off to Chile out.
This is the first time I saw Chile used wrong and it happened two posts in a row, must be an early day.
I thought it looked wrong when I posted. Chili, chili, chili
sampling some new snuffs! Just received my order of Abraxas! Glorious day indeed! @Mouse I know what you guys are going through…broken rib here too! Not too painful as it’s more in the back, although moving around is painful as F"“”"
Hopefully snuff doesn’t make you sneeze @SunnyHours Hope you recover soon.
This is the first time I saw Chile used wrong and it happened two posts in a row, must be an early day.
ha,ha on my phone it has spell correction and I posted it with out checking it.made me laugh as well.sometimes it picks the wrong word.lol
Building a custom larder or pantry ,using 3" beaded t&g flooring boards for the sides and doors, 3/8 Plywood back 5/8 plywood shelf with wood nosing 91" high X 34" wide X 20" deep
Just finished drenching, vacinating, foot trimming and bath for 1200 dorper sheep (yesterday and today). My back hurts. Used WoS lemon toast and Taxi red to get through it all.

wow, in two days? I hope you had lots of help.
@Mouse My son and daughter helped rounding them up and getting them in the race while i worked the sheep. X-mas shopping is the plan for today.
Phone interview/ preparation for the face-to-face/ searching for other potential opportunities.
just finished dealing with the credit card company about a fraudulent 600$ internet order to Walmart. The odd thing is the bank had no idea where the order originated, or what was ordered. One would think in this day and age internet orders would be easy to trace. Or maybe they just didn’t want to tell me.
Work… as always… work
Recovering at Home from the Flu… Should have got a flu vaccine.
@Mouse its that time of the year. Yesterday i got aphone call from mybank about an $1800 transaction at bestbuy.com and another $700 at tiger direct that I didn’t make. I’m so glad the fraud prevention department at my bank is on the ball.
Well it rained all day yesterday and it all froze solid last night and now everything is covered in a sheet of ice and I’ve been out of power all morning so I had to camp stove breakfast and use my phones internet to watch Netflix which is slow and crappy when used as a hotspot. And it appears as though my block is the only one without power as I can see street lights and shit all around my block and only my block is without power. Seeing as how its Sunday morning and its cold and rainy out and my block is the only one without power I don’t think Hydro Ones lazy asses are going to be in too big a hurry to fix it so it’s looking to be a very powerless day for me.
@n9inchnails Bad luck - hope they fix it soon. I seem to have spent much of the day singing - Mass this morning and Carol Service this afternoon.
Trenching a swale during this record high weather. 67 today
I slept most of the day and headed back to bed.
Somebody got a hold of my CC and debit card info and started using it last night. Fraud protection called today and let me know. Turns out “they” changed the address on the account so a call to the FBI and secret service ensued followed by changing every freaking password I have and wiping my computer. I think I burned through half a pound of snuff today!
another credit card fraud alert, that’s two this month. A virus scan turned up nothing. I am suspecting a compromised etailer but don’t know for sure, the card companies don’t seem to be able to track fraud back to its source.
^ that sucks, I’m amazed I never suffered from credit card fraud (knock on wood) with all the internet shopping I do and I’ve ordered from some pretty shady places
Sorry to hear that Mouse… I’m still getting mine cleared up.
@nikonNUT did your data leak originate from your computer? How did you find out? Did it show up in a virus scan?
Mouse, According to Kaspersky (Internet security 2014) my computer was clean but it was taking a long time to shut down so IDK. The only reason I found out was because my banks fraud protection services called me. The got my debit card and my credit card. Roughly $150.00 on my debit and $800.00 on my CC.
Sourcing parts for a fluid and filter change on the car. It’s got a weird little slip on the 2-3 up-shift. Not looking forward to seeing what’s in the pan…
On the phone with the fraud dept. some A Hole charge some woman’s clothing to my CC. You think they could figure out who doing it by the shipping address?

No @#@$@, just happened to me last week right before Xmas Eve-- sucked— card cancelled – then denied at grocery store (freaked my wife out completely). BUT at least my bank took care of me.
Car shopping.
oh, oh, @nikonNUT --bad transmission? I bought a VW Sportswagen TDI this fall and am really impressed with it…
oh, oh, @nikonNUT --bad transmission? I bought a VW Sportswagen TDI this fall and am really impressed with it…
I’d love to have a TDI Jetta but at the moment I really am looking for a beater. I work in a hydraulics repair shop and my cars get nasty! I usually hunt for low buck rides, run them until they die, and let rust where they stopped :)) My current ride has almost 300K on it thamks to a 120 mile daily commute so a slippy transmission is expected. Found a clean car for $800.00 today. Just needs an O2 senor and a thermostat.
I want to get a VW Passat TDI this summer
I’m getting 40 mpg in mixed highway/local driving; the torque of this little oilburner is a big surprise to me, I have to be careful not to chirp the tires. The quality of materials also surprised me comparing it to my wife’s new Prius. Truly a geek car and very well engineered. The wagon holds more stuff than its diminutive size would suggest. I paid extra for the 17" wheels, panoramic sunroof, gps, etc.
Just laying about and eating
hauling in extra wood before the snow storm hits, we’re expected to get about 18"
Brainstorming monikers for my electronic music, and getting some graphics designed by a friend for when i open youtube etc.
Our Banti hen just hatched (during the coldest day of the year no less) a few chicks— so Mrs. Desaix and the children are busy making over them of course. I’m off work very early, popped some snuff (WE Garrett) off in the post to another snuffer, worked on my Napoleonic miniatures.
Actually lounging for a change, whilst the wifey prepares dinner. usually I’m in there doing the cooking, so it’s a nice non sexist treat for me.
Weeding. Damn weeds are so resilient!!
Ticking off the minutes at work-- half day for me today and then on to the weekend
Writing a RAM disk API for our development team and counting down to the weekend.
Kicking back at home with Mrs Desaix and our son Ian. Miss my daughter. We all usually watch some Hammer horror together on Fridays I get off work early.
Afraid it’s a garage cleaning day for me…
Hammer Horror marathon continues: Curse of the Werewolf
First order of business is to get a good whiskey buzz (about half-way there). At some point, make breakfast. Then bring up some wood–hate burning propane! Then go shovel out the door of my neighbors garage so I can turn off their motion-sensor light for them (they live out of state and only come up to Maine a few times during the summer). They let me store my Harley there, so I’ll check on that at the same time. Then probably back to some more whiskey drinking, snuffing and pipe smoking.
The consensus is that Chinatown, written by Robert Towne, is the best screenplay ever. I’ll start reading it in a bit while I smoke my pipe and hope I get pulled into an entertaining story. I’ve never seen the film. I will, if I enjoy the screenplay.
Watching the snow and birds in my yard
flying my newly fixed Hubsan X4 mini quadcopter i pretty much turned it into one of the new versions with LEDs on each strut. flies like a beauty, if a little lopsided because my floor isnt level and a little noisy.
@Mouse, Very sorry to hear that. Hope you have a speedy recovery. I made a reservation today for my LMB summer hiking trip in Pisgah National Forest. Watching the snowfall now.
back from a walk on the beach with my wife. Dang it was cold down there, warming up now in front of the wood stove.
Watching Millwall’s latest fall in the table… 1-1 draw with Sheffield didn’t help matters for us much… I feel pretty sure we’re getting sent down this time round. I am glad that John Marquis just signed to stay on though
Listening to millwall match currently then we head down to watch my son’s club play at Monticello. We’re just going to watch some horror movies after as usual
Ordering a Casio Men’s Dive Watch for half price on Ebay and putting together a Toque order for tomorrow, I think I’ll go with the 10 for the price of 9 deal. Been looking forward to having an array of Toque’s in my collection
putting on weight ,warmer weather needs to get here soon
Killing time at work— all caught up and quite bored-- but I’d rather be bored as “busy” at this dump
-13 degrees without wind chill… ‘shivering up a sweat’.
Finally got electric back .Let there be light! I definitely got to get some alternative energy source. :-B
^^ I bought a little Honda 2000 watt generator last year, half the output at twice the cost of our other generator, but it is really quiet and sips fuel and you can pick it up with one hand; highly recommend. Just put in an order for a laptop to replace my desktop computer that decided to not work any more, won’t boot, no happy beep when I try to fire it up; I haven’t taken it apart to see what’s wrong but I’ve already replaced the power supply and video card once…I think it’s going to the glue factory.
Trying to survive being the ONLY person at work today in a very stressful office (as most of you know) — trying to be excited about Millwall at Burnley tomorrow but the reality is that we’ll most likely be taking another fall in the table… Oh well… it’s been that kind of season and that kind of day for that matter …
Starting to read Halo: The Thursday War by Karen Traviss. Just got it in the mail today.
Laundry and some maintenance on the oil guzzler
back from the doctor’s. May have to undergo a month of twice-daily antibiotic injections to kill the lyme disease bugs that may have lodged in my brain, waiting for blood test results… Ticks suck, and the ironic thing is they get infected by biting mice.
@Mouse I have Lyme too from tick bites… Never done a thing about it though… Sucks… Aside from that— getting ready for Millwall v Yeovil — battle for the basement… we don’t win this, i’ll be quite reddened anyhow, predicts Millwall victory 2-Nil Also, trying to survive my usual ordeal at the office. Lines out now, so perhaps some hits on my resume soon (I hope)…
More snow redistributing ,just got pounded with another foot or more, my mail box is almost buried. No dry wells this year.As soon as the snow clears I have a couple days of chainsaw work. that last Ice storm destroyed many tree limbs on the shaman ranch.
Got the day off from work due to the storm here in Maine. My plan is to drink whiskey (already started), snuff (yup), smoke a few pipes (will fire up shortly), cruise the forums (off to a good start) and at some point get the viruses and spyware cleaned off a client’s laptop (nothing against senior citizens, but sometimes I think they should not own computers–“I don’t go to websites, all I was doing was Facebook” [-O< ).
Pipe cleaning and waxing
Same as shaman
using up my best snuff before the Ragnarok finale
Ragnarok the band or the actual Ragnarok? I fear it is not far off.
Just writing on my typewriter, taking snuff, organising my room and occasionally nipping outside for some fresh air.
Took the opportunity to fix the cap on my chimney and some of the siding on my house since it has been such a nice day.
Right now I am trying to decide between pulling an all-nighter in anticipation of the gold medal hockey game or going to bed now and waking up very early. Either way I’ll be watching the puck drop. GO CANADA!!!
Got pooped on and then got puked on…actually this happens daily.
Hopefully if all goes well, setting up my Xbox 360 (traded an old bass guitar for a dodgy disc drive arcade edition with wifi and hard drives) and a TV. just need to find £50 to pay for the tv in the next month or so, and something for xbox live and GTA 5! anyone want any odd jobs doing in York? haha
Went to a friends house and watched a few movies while exposing them to cheese and bacon snuff.
setting up my new Qosimo laptop, downloading updated drivers etc.
enjoying some Jasmine Green Tea and a pinch of St Casura to ease my aching muscles; spent a couple of days dealing with a large oak tree that had too much damage from the last storm and also all the large branches that broke off a 30’ spruce tree, what a mess, nothing left on the north side of the poor thing. Also, one of my co-workers totalled her car by applying it to a tree on the way to work this morning, so I’ve been visiting her in the hospital.
setting up my new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone and the free smartwatch that came with it
Being sick and grumpy…no snuff no pipe no fun. rum helped moderately for an hour.
Hope you’re up to snuff soon @cloudyman. I’m nursing a pulled muscle in my lower back and getting lectured by my wife for doing too much.
playing GTA 5 on the xbox… i have a dodgy tv, so its in the window to keep it cool because it flickers when it gets warmer (or when i turn the kettle on the same extension).
Shoveling snow. This winter crap is getting old.!
Watching 24 Hours in A&E to distract me from the monotony of answering emails.
@Mouse i feel ya there. i’ve had a gigged up back for years now. hope that heals for ya soon back pain isn’t much fun neither is not doing anything or havin the ol’ lady griping at ya. i got one of them too, try to her happy keeps my ears happy…lol
Getting ready for a night on the beer, mates 40th party.all night session.i will regret it tomorrow I know.lol
Being well enough, from an awful cold, to consume tabak products in all forms gonna do a big ol pinch of toque bourbon them i’m gonna go sit out on the porch and blaze a big bowl of optimum and enjoy my hearty recovery.
Watching touring cars on TV from Thruxton UK (just down the road) whilst listening to the marshals etc. on my scanner
Weather providing, I plan to work in the yard - getting garden area ready. Will smoke a good cigar, sip some good bourbon, read a good book and contemplate the greater world…
Weather providing, I plan to work in the yard - getting garden area ready. Will smoke a good cigar, sip some good bourbon, read a good book and contemplate the greater world…
Now that’s what I wish I was doing !
the usual Sunday routine, hauling recyclables and trash to the transfer station, some plumbing, garden work, laundry, and later take a walk with my camera, fire up the sauna, and relax a bit.
Just replaced the Husqvarna mower I trashed on a tree stump with a (too expensive but couldn’t resist) Honda. Nice machine.
Tightening the spokes on my racing bike in a vain attempt to keep the wheel in true, really don’t want to have to pay for someone to straighten it. Damn things ain’t cheap!
Going to my one class, then getting a head start on some homework and qigong to balance out the day.
Just started a 5Hr conference call. Hopefully with a lunch break. So I shall be on mute & sampling my snuffs.
@lunecat Ohhh thank god for the mute button on long winded conference calls. Count me in as guilty.
Monitoring radio on a variety of receivers
Looks like a round of gardening and a break for a good cigar and a cold one…
Snuff, snus, and my pipes, while watching TV.
making bracelets
Just finished an all night walk with Relay For Life raising funds for the American Cancer Society
Just getting off a 6am - 7;30 pm shift and, listening to the Village people and, drinking to try to forget today.
Reminds me that I have seen a Master Chief in the Navy sing In the Navy. Was probably the best day in my life so far.
Changed an iPad Air digitizer and finished up a couple computer jobs. Got new tires and a battery in my pickup so I can get that back on the road for the summer. Now relaxing with some whiskey sours and lots of snuff (Joshi Horse, currently). One more week of work, then six weeks off.
just changed the strings on three guitars, and cleaned those three plus my bass. only for a bass string and a guitar string to snap as im re-tuning. im not sure i own enough tobacco for this… haha
Gardening. I grow everything in pots and containers, and had to shuffle everything around at the weekend to fit a water butt in. Not quite got everything back how I want it yet, but had a wander round earlier watering everything and munching on the fresh strawberries and rasperries as I went. Looks like artichokes might be about ready to harvest too. Also picked fresh chillis to add to the roasted veg (mushrooms, peppers and aubergine) I had this evening
just picked sugar snap peas. Chipmunks harvested the strawberries. I’m working on the problem…
Pinching viking blonde mainly, debating if I should spend time with my fiancée or my ps3… Haha I’m joking of course I’m playing ps3.
Massive sales, been styling my friends gt, racing it around, considering a trip to sweden with said friend and painting at another friends house. Arent we just damn workaholics?
Hanging out at the in-laws’ house. Dreading the drive back to Ft. Campbell tonight.
Day two of the Dragon Boat races at Big Fork Montana. Pretty cool stuff. Reported to be the third largest in North America (What would I know).
Stressing about Id say. Dog was hit by a car a couple of days ago, now lying beside me on the couch, sleeping and listening to music while I take pinches.
Been to a bike shop we found today, since i’m looking at my first motorcycle. if i get a modular helmet i reckon i’ll be ordering more dip looks like ill either be getting a Yamaha YBR125 (bike) or a Yamaha Cygnus X (scooter). obviously i prefer the bike for multiple reasons, but that under-seat storage, lower theft rate and insurance and automatic trans (for dealing with traffic) cant be ignored for the scooter. dont think it outweighs the general reliability, flexibility, economy, awesomeness and safety of the bike though.
@Firestarter0 You should get one of those new vespa-lookalikes. Remote starting, alarm, 2L on 100km, goes around 80 mph, good storage.
@rogue new vespa lookalikes? what are they? and i cant imagine doing 80 on something with the wheelsize and riding position of a vespa haha
@Firestarter0 I cant remember the name, but its actually really awesome. Ill send ya a msg as soon as I can remember the name.
After spending the day with only my wife. I’m now at my daughter’s dance class.
Back from vacation at Mohawk State Forest in western Mass. Rented a log cabin and had a great time. Brought along a few pipes and lots of Havana Toast along with a few ToqueUSA tins. http://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/Mohawk-Trail-State-Forest/photos/Mohawk-Trail-State-Forest-Cabin-007 Celebrating the return home now with a bowl of Cumberland
Well, it’s a beautiful day here and I’ve gone and blown my back out. So I’ll be up to nothing other than laying down and taking it easy
We are up early to watch my daughter’s soccer match. It’s around 60 degrees (F) and sunny right now. The high will be 91. I’m glad she has her game early.
sorry to read that, @crullers. Hope it’s a minor injury.
Thanks @Mouse, pinched nerve I think, not the first time it’s happened. A day or two of rest should fix me up.
The great peach harvest/processing this morning. Got about a bushel off one of my trees and just two peaches off the other. They’re getting severely pruned next February, I’ve been neglecting them and they’ve grown too big.
Had a great workout today on my new punching bag! Bleeding fist, heart beating nicely, full of endorphines. Today has been great! Tomorrow ill have to work on my merc. New brakes, handbrake cable etc! Will be great!
Pinning out dried flies. I’m a closet dipterist. Don’t ask.
LOL, @Talljim. I’m a closet myrmecologist. Love that stygmergy, seems like a lot of it in the news these days
Boxing match today! Easy victory (friendly match, full contact).
Got to pick up future MIL from work. Maybe wash the Subaru. Oh, maybe try some snuff for the first time. I have some Toque Lavender, Coke, Cherry, Natural and Original.
Have been busy in the afternoon and evening grinding tobacco from this factory:
Final Drs. appointment before cataract surgery on 2nd eye next week. B-)
Been grinding half a pound of Cuban Vuelta Abajo tobacco. Expensive but VERY good
Peoples Christmas presents arrived so I’m looking for a box to put this in. As my friend is American I think she will appreciate the fact it’s cough ““all American”” cough. PS. It looked smaller on the website.

What the hell is that, a fist-fuck dildo?
Trying to get rid of 12 boxes of stuff in my kitchen. Changed apartments and I no longer have a pantry or a full wall - floor to ceiling bookshelf.
Just got back from taking the little one to the Santa parade, she had a blast!
Doing some winter fertilizing w/pony poo in my herb boxes. I am so out of shape; took about ten minutes and all my muscles are sore. :(( .Recovery is a long road but it beats the alternative
@basement_shaman, at least you are on that long and winding road to recovery… Wishing you the best and am so glad you are back with us again!!! We thought for awhile that we had lost you and the world would have been - well just not the same without your wry wit and wisdom on this forum…
Thanks @stogie at the very lease I have value here. Not so much in the outside world until I get my hearing fixed; very hard to communicate with those in need of my experience, strength and hope.
Well @basement_shaman, at least in this forum your hearing is not a big deal, but we all appreciate your voice, wisdom and slightly slanted point of view.
Happily celebrating my third year wedding anniversary!
Congrats, haemony! Give it your all.
Congratulations & best wishes for many more. @haemony
Calling my mechanic, my Expedition’s battery went dead.
Thank you for the well wishes. Today what I am up to is recovering from the celebration. Good dinner and good company though so worth it.
Picking my granddaughters from an after school program
Dealing with a reluctant contractor and a pissed off wife
Cleaning my attic. Not what I’d prefer to be snuffing…dust.
Just finished 2 days of shopping with my daughter. Now back to getting my truck started.
Starting my pre Christmas clean up, I hate doing it because of the pain it will cause me, due to a long standing arm injury. However on Christmas eve when it’s looking better than it has all year I’ll be happy.
Campo de Borja, cheap Spannish red wine, but after a few pints of Tangle foot, who cares? I always remember the rhyme : “beer then wine; fine wine then beer, queer” And I still stick to that advice today…
I always knew it as : “Beer before wine, you’ll be fine. Wine before beer, oh dear.” I mostly drink beer or gin so mine goes : “Beer before gin, you’re in…”
Day off, but it’s raining. Supermarket, for beer of course, and chilling the fudge out.

I plan to drink bourbon on and off all day until I’m just right, then play loud rock music, and go back to bed. I hope to eat smoked salmon today, and wouldn’t mind a biscuit or two either.
Condolences, but I’m glad no one was hurt…
setting up my “Fitbit” activity 'n sleep tracker.
Last minute xmas shopping
Wife and kids are on the mainland for the holidays, but I have to work. So I’m watching A Christmas Story, drinking scotch and missing my family.
Get well soon, lunecat; at least you got some exercise. I’m slowly getting over a bout of the flu, so count your blessings,
All hands turn to, commence field day.
Setting up bird feeders to drive my daughters cats insane. and of course fatten up the birds for winter. I may even get to target some tree rats [AKA squirrels]
Getting ready to start Fight Club… No not the movie, the fight to fight of this cold that is coming on…
A bit of reading and a bit of snuffing. Nothing too stressful after a day at work. My wife and I are expecting our first in March, so a little work on the baby registry as well.
Long over due Pipe cleaning & polishing .
After 66 years I have finally found my family of origin, turns out I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters, they’re as shocked and excited as I am.
Enjoying snuff, snus, pipes, and maybe a cigar or two, and plenty of black coffee.
In about 10 hours I am going to embark on 16 hours of flights, layovers and time zone changes. I absolutely hate flying. Plus I’m taking a bunch of tins with me and I hope I don’t get hassled by security. Wish me luck guys.
You have my sympathy, SandwhichIsles; not my favorite thing to do either.
Trying to stay focussed at work. Only 2 weeks left then I’m outa here!
Freezing my tush right off!
same here haemony, 12F. here and dropping, winter’s here.
Watching the ball game. Too cold tonight to be much else.
Started studying the Talmud.
@haemony I feel your “pain” -6 deg F here, not counting wind chill factor.
@perique Wow. -6 is harsh. I was complaining about +7 but it is windy in the mountains. Hah! This is why I do not miss New England at all. No - here yet. Stay inside!
All work and no play makes Rogue a dull boy.
Picking up the kids from school.
I’m taking 16 gigabytes of photos and videos from my parent’s trip to Norway this past summer and making DVD slideshows for them. What a beautiful country! Insanely expensive too, apparently.
Charity poker at the synagogue.
XP was such a good OS, too bad Microsoft went all appish.
Going to the city for a appointment with the surgeon. That will burn up 3 hours
Patient notes for post-counseling sessions. Endless paperwork. Also got my TDAP shot so my first kiddo doesn’t get dypyheria or tetanus.
Reaming 2 pipes.
Pondering how to spend the morning… Take a nap or take a nap before work…
cutting silver sheet for fish bracelets (no, not bracelets for fish)
Bored out of my mind at work. No patients since 11am and almost out of snuff! Stuck here till 430. Poor me.
Cleaning & reaming some pipes to bring them back to their former glory.
snuff , smoke pipes ,dip, snus, eat ,read up on cancer remedies, watch movies, and tv shows, and trying to stay warm. I may do some laundry after lunch then take a nap, go to the food store chase women.
You dedication to nicotine is notable @basement_shaman
Currently writing a website scope for a bladder cancer diagnostic company, meeting this afternoon and then some Elite: Dangerous this evening if the missus let me ha!
Currently weighing the benefits of snuffing while trying to sleep.
Prep for presentation in the morning.
I have the day off work and the house to myself so I’ll be enjoying some peace and quiet. Also waiting on a snuff order, maybe it will arrive today.
“same thing I do every day–try to take over the world” actually, sitting at the bench and hammering and brazing and sawing metal
Waiting for some Registered Mail from Japan.
Getting my tires balanced.
Been feeling under the weather so went to the doc and discovered I had a sinus infection. It’s not snuff related; I get these once or twice a year due to seasonal allergies. A Mucinex-D an some steam cleared me out enough for my first snuff of the day - some nice Taxi Red!
Clean, ream & polish some pipes
getting to know, through email at the moment, one of my brothers.
Been running with the family today.
watched my youngest daughter’s basketball game.
tolerating my in-laws barging in unannounced.
Just smashed up an old chest of drawers and now heading to the dump. Moving house chores!
playing cards with friends.
Just recently I have tasked myself with reloading ammunition for my firearms. I’ve gone shooting a few times and have realized that as of late, I have little ammo in reserve. Can’t have that! Loading 9MM, .308 and .223 right now. Actually, the only thing I’ve loaded is 9MM, I need to get bullets for the .308 and .223 to continue but I’m cleaning brass like a Mother of 5 does laundry right now. Lol!!
Low on provisions ,have to hit the food library
Helping the kid with a social studies project.
Put up some blinds and a mirror over my wife’s bureau. Went to a Catholic Mass to see my rabbi give the sermon (it was cool, they had a Catholic priest do the same at our synagogue on Friday). Generally an enjoyable day.
A little bummed. Should be hanging with the kids as they are off from school but I have been called away at least for a while.
We got sent home early today so I made the best use of my time. The receiver on my old P/U truck was pointing South due to the PO or other owner down the road either overloading it or some kind of mishap on the road. It bent the frame in where the receiver bolts to the underside of the frame. Yeah, the frame behind the rear axle is bent down slightly. I simply made two spacers out of 1/2"X2" CD 1018 flat bar with a 1/2" hole in the middle of it to put between the forward most points where the receiver bolts to the frame to tilt it back up where the stinger goes in. I gotta tell ya, for a job that should have been a hassle with several trips to the hardware store, this one went quite quickly and stayed on point 'till the finish. That doesn’t happen very often for me. Lol!! I’m much happier now. I love working on my old POS truck!
Getting ready to walk the dog
heading to donate blood.
Might be buying a new car. The current is in the shop with a $3,000 repair bill, which is about what the car is worth! Time to trade in and take out the checkbook…
heading to donate blood.
Kind act. Thanks from all of us who may someday be in need. I wish I could, but I’m banned for life due to a case of babesiosis.
bought (well, I’m financing) a new RAV4! Great car; gonna be perfect once the baby arrives (first kiddo and all).
Selfing rebuild in the gloomy basement. Dam spider webs. Have to fire the cleaning lady. Oh thats right, she left without notice.
Just settling in with the family for the evening. Going to take a couple of snuffs and maybe a pipe latter.
@basement_shaman hard to find good help these days…
@El_presidente more expensive to keep one. they are cheaper to rent, tipping you get better service. Nothing is free. Best luck with the new wheels and the bundle of joy. I will have a cigar when he/she arrives and send you some ear plugs
@basemen_shaman Thank you! Believe it or not, I already stocked up on the ear plugs (same kind I use at the gun range)! I’ve also got a Davidoff with her name on it once she lands…
getting the kids rounded up. Heading to my daughters basketball game.
cleaning house and preparing a hospital bag for when the baby comes…
Just set up a new PS4. We went to the store to exchange a game and came home with a new console 8-|
counselor notes. Nothing like doing 40+ progress notes…
steeling myself for an hour or two of sheer muddy bliss tomorrow, while the temp is above freezing, to ream out the pvc drain pipe for our sump pump; the idiot that installed it, lo those many years ago, thought that using perforated pipe was a good idea, the tree roots think so…
Just up from a nap! A rare treat for me even on Sat.
Taking the better half on a weekend “date”… Movies and then pizza
getting ready for a potentially bad storm; probably lose electricity for a few days: * IMPACTS…HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN WHITE-OUT / BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES. TRAVEL WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE AND LIFE THREATENING ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION. ALSO SNOW WILL BE WET ENOUGH TO RESULT IN DOWNED TREES AND POWER OUTAGES IN ADDITION TO THE HURRICANE FORCE WINDS. * WINDS…NORTH-NORTHEAST 35 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND 70 TO 80 MPH. THE HEIGHT OF THE WINDS WILL BE LATE MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY.

That might be the snow we got last night…
Grilling smile: It’s 73 degrees here today (that’s N. TX for you!) and I have been as hungry as a bear all day. Got chicken thighs with Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo wing sauce, corn on the cob, and asparagus on. Should be done in about 30 min.
wish there was an ‘envious’ button, J_S, sounds good. I console myself with the thought that in 7 months it will be a cool 70 degrees here… Meanwhile, I’ve got the gasoline for the generators and snowblower, extra wood brought in for the wood stove, etc. There’s a ban on driving after midnight. Getting robocalls from the police and NSTAR electric telling us to not be stupid.
@Mouse it sounds like you are in the middle of the really bad stuff I am hearing about on the news. Good luck and stay safe.
Slow day, working on tomorrows presentation with a pipe in hand!
building up my private practice!
Running the kids everywhere. The two of them can really be a full time job just getting them where they need to be.
Went to see the opthamologist. EDIT: Looks like we share the same sense of humor, basement_shaman (my condolences to your friends)… Sticking an _ eye _ down there looks like something I would do!
Ignoring the blizzard outside–snowblowing tomorrow is soon enough. Been a nice relaxing day and I’m bored as hell.
Need provisions - must travel across the frozen tundra.
Just finished a presentation for work. Glad it’s over.
5 hours of snow clearing and feeling it. Think I’ll take an aspirin, turn on the electric blanket, and play some Candy Crush or solitaire for a while. Life is good.
While out; found a AA new to me meeting, On the site of the beer distributor I spent my college fund at. It was my home group before I got ill. Good thing I didn’t travel where it used to be. Probably won’t go since I can’t hear a damn thing.
My sympathy to both of you, though the exercise is good for you, lunecat. There are times when I would prefer to be able to turn off hearing, but it’s got to be a drag to not have options. Do you have partial hearing so that a hearing aid would help?
@Mouse Yes ,I can hear if you’re close as two feet away. cannot hear to talk on the telephone or hear what’s on TV most of the time with the volume at max. I think it has to do with frequencies. It bothers me when glass is bumped, I hear that rather loudly, strange. Some woman I can’t hear at all , no matter how close. Maybe a blessing. Going to see about getting public welfare for all my health issues. Have exhausted all my cash assets .so a hearing aid is out of my reach financially.Come warmer weather i will be yardsale some of my worldly belonging. I realize I never will use again. Lord forbid if things get worse, I may have to sell off my snuffbox collection.
Managing to find a Dr. for my daughters sports related Achilles injury. Thankfully it did not rupture just very sore.

No my hearing is fine thank you. I checked my previous post thinking I had posted “hearing” instead of “heating” - but I couldn’t see that I did??!!??
sorry, @lunecat, my fault; I was responding to both you and basement_shaman in the same post. Glad your hearing is OK.
Yea me too. Stay warm
Running about 1 hr. behind where I need to be. I hate busy days.
Going to get petrol $.40 0ff with my Giant card. Also filling Lp bottles for heat back up. If the power goes I will have heat
Spent the evening just hanging with the kids. Nice to do and now I am ready to relax a little.
Laundry Day and Food shopping
Caught a small break from the family. Trying to decide if I should get a quick workout in or have another pipe.
Making a big pot of comfort food- Chicken egg noodle soup
Watching my daughter’s basketball game.
Suddenly I find out I’m in for a dumping of snow tomorrow. 20 centimetres, or more closer to the Great Lakes. Since I am just off the north shore of Lake Erie I might be looking at up to a foot of it so I am making the snow storm check list. Food? Check. Beer? Check. Snuff? Lots of it. I think it’ll go OK.
My sympathy, crullers, but it sounds like you are prepared. It’s arriving here on Monday, we’re slated to get a mix of snow and freezing rain.
You’ve had much worse weather luck than I have so far this year @Mouse. Hope this one fizzles out before it reaches you.
That would be nice, crullers; I am still sore from clearing up from the last storm. At least I am getting back into shape, I was contemplating buying some 36" waist jeans last week, the 34’s are getting a little snug.
Have the ‘Joy’ of going in to work a day early due to the schedule being fouled up. I suppose that is how the old cookie crumbles…
annual bookkeeping in preparation for my tax preparer, yeah, I put it off for a year and do it all at once, it doesn’t lessen the pain but at least it’s not spread out over the rest of the year–I hate working with spreadsheets.
@stogie Work was joy for me .Oh how I miss it and the fat pay days. I have sawdust in my veins and my shop has no heat yet. I guess I will tinker with making wooden crafted items once up and running. I may try my hand at Pipe crafting and see what I can create. But today is just made for relaxing. Pot of Joe and a full pipe, passing time the best way I can.
Its a snow day for me so I’ll be spending the morning shoveling snow. There’s drifts all over my driveway over 3 feet high damn wind and snow its like all the snow in the neighbourhood all just collected on certain parts of my driveway ~X(
(whine) last storm was that way for me, this one will be worse though, 3 or 5 inches of snow followed by rain, then more snow and well below freezing temps and wind. So heavy wet snow turning to ice. Count your blessings, I worry about being able to move what’s coming my way. (/whine)
We got over a foot of snow here. I’m not going to bother shovelling until after the snow plough has been by and the wind has eased up. Unless the power goes out, the wonders of modern technology allow me to work from home
Busier than I would like to be today. Have to take a short break here and there but I will be at work all day today for sure.
Shovelling done sooner than expected. Thank goodness for good neighbours with snow blowers!
Getting ready to head to the liquor store. Running short on a couple of things.
Adding some more Viking Blonde and SG’s Fire Dance to their respective tins from the jars I have them in. Also, sterilizing a new jar to open another tin.
I am presently moving all daily use tobaccos from the wet bar into the walk in closet. First, the daily humidor, then the pipes and tobacco, and then the snuff. The wife has decided to paint the room! Fun times, and yes she has to paint today. Yes, the pipe tobacco and snuff are airtight but I will have nightmares about paint fumes and tobacco if I don’t.
If it was me, I’d just be grateful that she is doing the painting. And stick a fan in the window to vent the fumes…
@mouse If it were just water based paint that would work but the trim work requires an oil base. Windows open, fans running but you don’t want to play with oil based fumes and your humidors. I doubt the rest would be affected as they are air tight and the pipes should be fine but I am overly cautious when it comes to oil base.
Took a ride with my daughter to buy horse feed and did some basic shopping myself - Milk ,bread, eggs.
played cards with friends tonight. A nice time with my wife and friends.
Just hanging around… Literally, on my Inversion Table… Trying to get my back in alignment… took a spill from the back end of a hog trailer 60 days ago at work… I haven’t been right sense…
I have a new Celestron refractor telescope (recent ebay purchase) that I will be putting together today and hopefully viewing a few celestial objects with it tonight.
Getting acquainted with my new Humminbird 571 HD DI portable fishfinder
Just hanging around… Literally, on my Inversion Table… Trying to get my back in alignment… took a spill from the back end of a hog trailer 60 days ago at work… I haven’t been right sense…
Hang in there, You have my sympathy, Farm work is one of the most dangerous occupations. When I worked at a farm I broke ribs, got serious osteoarthritis in my hands, and nearly got eaten by a chain saw. I’m nursing a broken rib at the moment from a careless fall. It’s no fun when you break stuff.
House work and other put off till tomorrow chores , Also making a small batch of spicy chili.
Getting ready to have friends over for supper and Walking Dead. It’s a balmy -2C so I’ll be grilling some back ribs.
Working out, smoking pipes, getting ready to pick up the kids from school.
shoveling snow, more snow…
@mouse believe it or not, I am going to mow the yard. It’s not all green but its starting (small leaves are budding on a couple of trees two) and so its time to get the old stuff up. Trim the shrubs but I will leave the trees for another day. I will also have to lay some sod on Sat.
Today, for the first time since the early 80s, yours truly will be trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube. This particular one has Al Pacino on each side in various poses as Tony ‘SCARFACE’ Montana. I figure once I solve it I’ll carry it around with me, proudly, and show it to people and say, “Say hello to my little friend.”
Spending time with the in-laws, God help me. After that it’s poker night with some friends, if my wife doesn’t go into labor first.
We’re expecting a bunch of freezing rain here so I am working from home and waiting for a couple of parcels to arrive at the post office. Spring can’t come soon enough.
I’ll do my schoolwork while the kids are in school. It’s been rainy here the last few days bu looks like it might clear off this afternoon. If it does I’ll probably take the kids to the beach after I pick them up.
MRI should not take long. I just hate the nasty liquid Barium Sulfate I have to drink and then getting stabbed for the IV dye injection… is not pleasant.
obsessing over snuff like on any other day of the week
Watching the News. Freezing rain is getting close, but despite the fact the temp. seems to be just above freezing I have ice on the grill already. Not a good sign.
Researching recording equipment, microphones and such… Getting serious about this Podcast idea. B-)
@SnuffnStuff Perhaps a redundant comment from my part, but: make sure to post your first episode here as soon as it’s done. No pressure
@Bastu if this becomes a reality I will be sure to let everyone here know about it. I’ve contacted a friend of mine who does this sort of thing on the side to get some input from him regarding logistics and I’ve been looking around for hosting services as well.
Took the family to the movies. Ready to get back into a normal weekly routine now that spring break is over.
I find routine essential for balance in my life, there’s enough chaos and emerging unforseens as it is. This morning blood tests, 9 vials worth, my doctor is nothing if not thorough. Have I mentioned that I hate deer ticks?
I’m moving my plant stand upstairs and getting it set up to start my tobacco plants. I’ll start the seeds next weekend for planting at the end of May.
Starting seed indoors for the garden. hot peppers, low acid tomatoes, herbs etc. shopping and laundry.
Removing malware from my wife’s netbook. Just what I want to be doing after staring at a computer all day.
took a nap with the newborn, which was fun. She was crashed out on me like only a baby could be. The wife took pictures. In all, a warm fuzzy moment.
Just prepared a new batch of Hermbstedt’s Brasil with Kashubian sauce. Jaap Bes.
Watching The Story of the Jews, a PBS/BBC series on the history of Jews in modern culture. Fascinating look at how Jews and Judaism have lived, practiced, occasionally thrived, fit in and adapted (or not) over the course of history in their respective homelands.
Letting the Madras B air out before I trying. Putting the herbal in the sock drawer!
Going shopping for a suit. Getting married May 3rd
Welcome to the adventure, Hitsuzen; we were very poor when we got married, found a perfect 3-piece suit at a thrift store for $2.
Getting ready to mow the yard.
Getting ready to not work for 4 days, yay…
Going to my niece for an easter feast.
laundry, dormant oil spraying fruit trees if the temp gets above 40f, raking and fertilizing lawn, tilling garden, planting window boxes, etc.
Making pickled eggs with deer pepperoni and habinaro peppers.
Up early, did our customary Easter. Now, just hanging out with the kids. Their just watching TV but still good to be with them today.
Enjoying my last day off before hitting the grind tomorrow.
Started cutting the back 40. then it started to rain
Cleaned & Polished 6 pipes…
Starting my 4 day weekend
playing around with Lightroom and about to set up a Canon PixmaPro printer if I can lift the thing on to a bench, weighs a ton.
Bought a blueberry bush (three of my existing seven croaked of a fungal infection over winter), a thornless blackberry for my trellis arch, two chilli plants, rosemary, and six elsanta strawberry. Got back too late to plant them up though.
what variety blueberry, @50ft_trad ? I used to work at a blueberry farm and we had to rip them all out due to a fungus, armillaria melea, that sent black shoe-string-like rhizomorphs into the cambium layer. 2000 highbush plants. Getting rid of the infection before replanting was nasty business (that chemical is banned now) it killed all life in the soil. Walking on that dirt afterward was eerily dead-feeling.
To be honest @Mouse I’ll have to check and see what I have left. There was one Bluecrop, one Dixi, one Gold Traub, one Spartan, and three Pink Lemonade. I grow everything in containers, so thankfully it’s a matter of emptying, disinfecting, and replacing the plant with fresh compost. I had two plants that didnt bud up at all, and every stem and branch went dogwood red. These have been thrown out. I have a third which is still green stemmed but doesn’t want to become active which I’m hoping is just a late starter, and a fourth which is budding up lovely and coming into leaf, but three branches had got the red whatever-it-is creeping down from the tips. I’m hoping I’ve cropped enough of is out to prevent it spreading. So far the last three appear ok, with one of the plants being rather confusing in as much as it’s budding up and coming into leaf, but still hasn’t shed all last years foliage!?!?!?
Long over due yard work, really just playing with my Machete. Hacking weed trees down
I was on machete duty last weekend @basement_shaman one of the neighbours had a huge climbing plant covering half the rear of her house and the hedge shears wouldn’t touch it. She decided she wanted shut of it completely, so out came the 22" machete, Bahco Laplander saw and the ladders. The garden between hers and mine sounds a bit like yours earlier today I have to wade in with the big knives a couple of times a year to slay the triffids that are trying to invade
This might help diagnosing the blueberry disease: http://www.fruit.cornell.edu/berrytool/blueberry/BBparts.htm
Thanks Mouse. The demise appeared to be like phomopsis canker, in the way it attacked, but had the colouration of the fusicoccum and there were no obvious cankerous lesions. It might be some strain particular to the UK, unless they got scorch virus late last year and I didn’t spot it. Thankfully my stone fruits (cherry and mirabelle) appear unaffected. I lost my first plum tree to canker a couple of years ago
@Mouse just been out for the last smoke before bed: 1 Pink Lemonade and the Dixi were the ones that were kaput 1 Pink Lemonade was the late starter that I cut some diseased bits from which might make a comeback The third Pink Lemonade looks like it’s budding nicely, but is the one that still carries foliage from last year. Bluecrop, Spartan and Gold Traub all doing well Other than the Bluecrop, all plants were new in last year. The one I bought today is Blue Jay
Trimming back the scupernong today. I’d been neglecting it since the birds and squirrels get all the fruit anyway
I like Bluecrop, nice flavor. We grew Spartan, Bluecrop, Patriot, Duke, and Coville. Had a late variety but our season is a bit too short for it to do well, so we took it out. Duke was an insurance crop, flowered late but ripened early, just in case there was a late frost. I miss working at the farm even though it was tough on my body. Got to be careful to not let potted plants dry out even when they are dormant, that can really stress them. Now I just have three plants and a bunch of fruit trees, three peaches, five plums, an apricot, a black cherry, two apple trees, some red currants and gooseberry plants. Oh, and an ancient concord grape that bore like crazy last year but looks like it may have died last winter.
Thanks for the insights @Mouse Sounds like you got a nice plot there too. I’m crammed with small fruit trees too, only got a new a small garden (4m x 8m). Mirabelle, two apples, and a cherry all in blossom. Medlar will be blooming in a few weeks. Persimmon, szechuan pepper, quince, blue sausage fruit, and trifoliate orange not developed enough to bear yet. Smaller stuff, I’ve got raspberries, strawberries, jostaberry, blackcurrant, blackberries, checkerberry (wintergreen), and of course the surviving blueberries. I’m just a beginner (third year growing). I know a lot more than when I started, but also know I have a lot more to learn.
The mill isn’t running today, so I’m getting to lift weights early today and then get ready to have people over tonight
Getting the motivation to go out and buck some logs into rounds, move them, split them and stack for next winter. Sounds like work to me. Luckily I have a new log splitter and some fresh snuff to make my day more enjoyable!
looking up ‘scuppernong’
@mouse lol, it tends to be a southern us thing, it’s the state fruit of my state -north carolina
Carving some kuksa cups and maybe a bowl, and drinking Oculto blue agave beer and Pu Erh tea while admiring a gentle spring rain. Wonderful day
finished with the grass till next week while bushwhacking I caught some poison ivy. Oh woe is me
Spread 5 yards of wood chips on the parking lot.
Potted up the chilli plants (apache and cheyanne) and sited them either side of the dwarf pomegranate in the front window. Potted up the blueberry bush, and threw some fleece over the fig tree and blue sausage fruit tree. It was 21C (70C) here today, but temps due to plummet this weekend and there’s talk of potential blizzards next week. Sunday night expected to go to -3C(26F)
Went to survey my brother’s house, or more specifically back bedroom. He’s converting it into a nursery for when my neice is born, and want me to paint a mural scene on one wall, and produce some script on another. He’s got lots of preparation work to do before then though.
Helping the neighbor put some new lighting in his shop in exchange for some trees for my fireplace. Beer is always in the equation when doing something for him also.
Mowed the lawn and now I’m trying to make a new rice beer recipe…need some new ingredient ideas…
Mowed the lawn and now I’m trying to make a new rice beer recipe…need some new ingredient ideas…
Maybe some fresh fine ground ginger? Maybe some dashes of Thai chilli oil? Bump up with extra dry malt! Good luck as I have never tried making the rice beer variation.
spruce buds
@nicmizer I usually forage for flavoring ingredients. I like using flowers, herbs, and wild fruits. I’m thinking of adding some more wisteria, some juniper berries, fresh ginger, orange pulp, and some old golden puffs cereal that needs to be recycled.
Re-purposed an old trinket box and filled it with Wilson’s winter warmer.
Re-purposed an old trinket box and filled it with Wilson’s winter warmer.
If I owned that I would paint it white and you know what I’d fill it with.
@basement_shaman I cant paint it because its my mothers but that’s what’s going in it next. I have it in my next order
Shame it your moms http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/out-of-africa/n10451
Trying to sleep. My wife and I help out with the youth group at church and they had a retreat at our house and stayed up until 3am Friday and Saturday night. Also, not trying to have a religious discussion, that’s just what happened to me
Lmao @basement_shaman that video is amazing. That totally made my night.
Planting bamboo
Deciding how the garden needs to be arranged for best results this year. Growing everything in containers makes it much easier to adjust for losses, additions and different growth rates
My wife is down so I am cooking dinner for the kids and I.
just ordered a Google Chromebook Pixel, 16GB RAM (2015) to replace my aging netbook running Windows XP. It will be good to get away from Windows for web and email-based browsing. My more serious laptop has Windows 8.1 on it and I hate it a lot.
Hoping that the deal started for two Tennessee Walkers goes through. After that trying to convince my wife that the round pen needs to be where I want it!
Setting on the porch with a pipe watching it rain . . . again.
Relaxing on the couch with my feet up after the hottest day of this year. 77 degrees. F.
Practicing my Copperplate/Spencerian penmanship. My wrist is killing me.
Bought a red leaf peach tree today. Sited it in prime position next to the patio table, after I moved the quince bush from there to a position with longer growing period (bloody North facing garden 8-| )
Making cheese to go with tonight’s spaghetti.
Little sick today, made an Asian homemade Ramen with cabbage, carrot, tuna, onion, and homemade broth
Went food shopping, got gas with 80 cents off per gallon, went to the bank paid the mortgage, made out bills and mailed them.Did some yard work .Put out the recycling & trash.Damn grass needs to be cut again, I’ll tackle that another day.
Grinding up old cigars and making cherry wood/rum infused snuff. And grilling some burgers with Busch beer.
Pick some fresh asparagus from the garden cooking it now for dinner
Made my first batch of Turkish delights like no other.
More yard work, so much to catch up on,since I missed last year. Cut the grass once again. Removed vines that were choking the life out of my fruit trees. More machete swinging. I have to break out the roundup to take care of the vines that are weighing down the horses fence if the forecast agrees. Oh and I planted some tobacco seeds; still need to prepare the sight.
Started carving another bowl
Reamed 4 pipes today, need to get to a few more now that Spring is well underway.
Trying to get better from a few day flew and hayfeaver. Got shipment of some new snuffs and haven’t even felt like trying them. :-? :((
@nicmizer Now that’s a pretty bad bug to keep you from new snuff! Hope you get to feeling better. I torn apart and cleaned a 16s Waltham pocket watch, and for the first time without a dip in, however there was 25g of WOS #22 on my watch desk. I figured a toast would be perfect cause I could leave it open and available.
Thanks @banjo777 I am feeling a lot better today. Actually opened the Rosinki Kathnerbak. Good first impressions as it is a heavy one and not sneezy (what the nose dose not need). Some fresh #22 will have to sit for a few more days till I am back up to snuff.
Mowing the lawn and then heading to work
Digging in the front yard 15 X15 garden plot about 1/4 done and I am beat
I did some yard and garden work as well. Already feeling the winter muscles!
Yard work, now I just need to spray for fire ants and I should be good to go.
worked in the shop most of the day with a break to do a little mowing and watering. Tomorrow I’ve got to spray the fruit trees before they bloom, winter moth larvae have hatched and will strip the trees if I don’t get them. They’ve already nearly killed a couple of very large cherry trees. They just showed up here about 7 years ago and are very damaging.
Cut up and loaded about 1/2 cord of dry fir from neighbors place. Nice he got a new propane fireplace! Nice he has no need to deal with firewood as I will for the coming years. :-bd :((
Doing some wood carving and playing my djembe
More playing in the dirt. It exciting like snow, once it here you wish it stop. I am definetly covering it with plastic for a weed free garden.
Just got done working. Chilling with my brother, drinking beer(and something extra) grilling steaks and burgers, and fishing/ghost hunting
More gardening. Trying to stop the critters taking over on a few plants, and got rid of my rosemary and sage. Both had been struggling since mid last year, but neither were showing signs of a proper recovery. Started making masking discs out of landscaping fabric to go round the bases of the trees and bushes to stop the weeds taking hold through the shale/bark mulches. Aside from that I’ve been catching up on laundry and chatting to friends online
Debating the prose and cons of a larger than usual snuff purchase. On the one hand shipping is free on the other I just bought a good box of cigars and my wife will not be happy. Glad its warm weather, I think I will hang out on the porch for the rest of the day.
Burned some brush ,Smoked my pipe and took a nap outside in the shade. The weather was gorgeous
Scrubbed two of my trucks today, one has not seen a bath in four years and other in three. Took all day but both are looking great.
Delivered newspapers with Mr bro from 2am To 7 am. Thinking about taking a nap before I have to go work again.
Ripped apart the carburetor on my rototiller Gave it a good cleaning put it back together and it didn’t work ripped it apart 2 more times . fuck it order a new one for $20. I could had been fishing
Had that problem with mine, too, only I put a new carb in last year. A new spark plug cured mine.

For future reference, don’t use ethanol fuel in it, the small carburetors rubber parts and small jets don’t mix well with ethanol or any alcohol in the fuel. Also always drain the carb if storing for long periods of time. These simple things will keep it starting on the first pull! Be a happy tiller.
8 days and rustica seedling have broke the soil More grass cutting today :!!
Only about a week behind you,if they sprout. Keep us posted on how they are doing as I will also.
Yard work. Bolted a tongue to my mower to hook my trailer on, Shoveled out the burn barrel [oil tank cut in half] fill the trailer and dumped it out back. Filled the trailer with dead branches several times. went to start my chainsaw ,noticed it leaked gas ,damn fuel lines rotted, ripped that apart. running for new fuel line tomorrow. started a fire and burned the branches and smoked my pipe in the shade.also pulled some weeds and cut more vines.
Up to ma Feds house all afternoon planting deer resistant plants and flowers. Transplanting some wine grapes and trimming oak trees to train. Stuck a bunch of sunflower and rustica seeds in the ground as they get full sun at their ranch. BBQ salmon, salads and casseroles as always. Had a great mothers day at her place!!!
Yesterday, started emptying the strawberry planters to recycle the compost. Planters didn’t work as well as I hoped last year. Threw out a couple of plants that suffered over winter and weren’t recovering properly. Filled all available pots with the repurposed compost (now run out of them) Repotted my rosemary and orange scented thyme. Started topping off all the fruit tree pots with landscaping fabric and decorative gravel. Pruned back a few unwanted branches, and inspected everything for pests. Today… back to work. Might get a bit more done in the garden tonight.

gas/ethanol mix strikes again. My repair shop suggested I switch to the synthetic fuel, lasts two years without going stale. Costs a lot more but I don’t use the chain saw or string trimmer all that often so it will save money on repairs in the long run. I’ve been told that regular gas/oil mix goes stale in only a couple of weeks unless it is in a completely full container.
I have a pile of dirty dishes awaiting my expertise … :((
I have a pile of dirty dishes awaiting my expertise … :((
my wife gave me a great present: a new dishwasher. :x
Somehow the tire on my log splitter has found its way flat and popped off the bead.?.?. Figured I had better fix it now before it fills up with water since it is suppose to rain tonight. Will be splitting wood tomorrow if not pouring. It is always easyer to do when not blazing hot.
Put new fuel lines and oil pump line on my chainsaw . picked up several cart loads of branchs and burned them. My poor weeping willow, dead pines and the last one a bunny rabbit. Just not enough hours in a day. My Japanese Maple also needs to be cut down along with shorting the privit hedges I think I will wait till fall on the hedge.
Sipping on gin. Getting ready to grill some ribeyes and bratwursts.
Dental appointment today, so had the afternoon off work. Called into the garden centre once I’d got over the ordeal, and picked up a fuchsia and some caps daisies. Planted those, tied up the skyscraper lillies, and went to give my friend some advice on a ye olde car he’s restoring
Had to cut short on the wood splitting as I have to answer the phone from the pre-op nurse. Can’t miss this call or will postpone my much needed surgery. Relax as instructed, anyways sounds better than work. Hopefully I can get more wood split before it gets hot as I like to have this pre winter chore done by June.
More back breaking yard work, I was chainsawing away and it suddenly stopped, Oh shit I thought something went wrong! here it was only out of fuel. And shortly after so was I. Now waiting on the postman with my new carburetor for my tiller. I think he got lost. Don’t look like it will get installed tonight.
Having a ‘moving’ experience prepping for my colonoscopy later this morning. Then later plan to visit the garden of 1,000 Buddha’s in Arlee Montana. A pretty cool place.
Thinking about going to the Rochester Lilac, I think today is Doo-Wop day at the rock stage.
At the hospital all day today, baby comes home tomorrow
digging a small grave for the cat, the last member of my wife’s family, he’s not dead yet, not suffering, but well on his way, probably be gone by tomorrow morning.
My condolences; losing a long time pet no matter how annoying or how much joy they had brung is always heart wrenching. 15 yrs ago I said no more pets. I am a softy since then one small dog and one horney cat had passed. still have two feline furballs making a race track around the house at wee hours of the morning.
Washing my balls. (The ceramic ones that I use as milling media in my ball mill)
Went to the garden centre earlier. Just potted up petunias, lobelia, ivy, bidens, diascia, all in pots, baskets, and a wall planter. Fitted the wall planter, salvaged a bird feeder pole to take two baskets and a pot, and repotted my dwarf red leafed peach. I also picked up some bark chippings for the scabby areas, and some white pebbles for topping off the rest of the fruit trees. It’s started raining now though, so they’ll have to wait for another day
Worked on the roto tiller temperamental piece of $*!& Had it sort of running; lucky no gun was handy.tomorrow is another day.
Out with the family mini golf, laser tag, etc.
Cutting the grass and then going fishing.
Going to the auto swap meet. First of two for the year. This is the big one! Will spend the hole day there.
Cutting the grass and then going fishing.
I guess you shot your rototiller then, eh?
Going to see a high school production of The Sound Of Music with my wife, then going hunting for estate pipes to restore and resell.
Mouse I just shouted and cursed at it. I don’t have the breath to keep trying to start it. I did have it idling but couldn’t get it to run full throttle. I should had rented one. I will just cultivate with my weed wacker tiller only where I am planting. come end of season I will rent one and till in the compost and pony poo with lime to sit and rot over the winter. In the mean time I may look for a small engine repair specialist i can trade time or barter with.
Nothing exciting for me today. Laundry, sorting through toolboxes, reading, basically just having a day of rest before the week ahead.
My wife threw a true surprise 60th birthday party for me. All 4 kids with spouses were there as were all 8 grandkids. A truly grand day on Flathead Lake!!!
@stogie <:-P Happy Brithday <:-P
Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday Dear Stogie, Happy Birthday to You !!! =D> =D> =D>
Harvested the last of the spinach, making saag paneer for dinner.
AWWW GEEE THANKS!!!
Met with representatives for the local Rescue Mission about their offer for a position working there in the recovery program as a Case Manager and teaching a class. Giving it some serious thought. They may help me get certified as an Addictions Counselor to boot
Work, work and more work… later today I hope to make it to the hot springs a couple hours away.
Yard work, mowing, etc. With all the rain I really need to be after it every 4-5 days.
paying bills, putting off going to work
Working all day, going home to spend time with the wife and kids and painting/trimming the wood chute leading into the basement I built last night.
going to interview for a promotion at work, could mean less travel/more time with the family and a pay bump. keeping my fingers crossed…
Studying physiology of the digestive system and metabolic processes - final exam tomorrow.
@Nicodemus77 I hope that your interview went well.
Got contractors in today to demo the kitchen and spoke to a plumber about replacing the tub and fixing some leaks. Renovations are fully underway.
Went to the doctor to find out results ,They say my sodium levels are low.sending me for more blood work. I guess that why they call it medical practice.
Went and registered for night classes at the junior college. Oxyacetylene and Gas Metal Arc Welding.
@chris - thanks!
thanks, @chris hoping for the best!
311 concert tonight.
cleaning up broken tree pieces in the aftermath of a wild thunderstorm, prepping for another 4-day run of retail bliss in the shop starting tomorrow. Hope things went well for Nico, Sean, and Basement.
I finally got an appointment with a ENT specialist. I hope they can help me hear again. life will be more pleasant when I am not being yelled at.it not that I can’t hear anything just can’t make out what is being said some people I can’t hear at all.Forget about answering the phone.I will probably only be able to buy one aid.I haven shopped for any but they are pricy
After work today it’s off to watch Houston Astros vs. Oakland A’s at the stadium
@basement_shaman - I was at Rite Aid the other day, and they had an off-the-shelf hearing amplifier that had up to (if I recall) 30x amplification. Might be meant for people who are experiencing loss but can’t afford prescription aids, but it seemed pretty cheap. I might consider getting one myself, as my own hearing (like my sight) is circling the drain the past few years, and I don’t have insurance.
Today mostly attended the various contractors working in my house. They’ve been working very fast, and should finish up very close to schedule. The old kitchen was a horror, but the way things are shaping up, I think the new kitchen will inspire us to care about cooking interesting food again. Should have the new stove running by some time next week if all goes well.
I don’t miss that kitchen. I do miss having a kitchen. It’s a good excuse though to order lots of pizza.
Today I am recovering from throwing my self down the stairs in the middle of the night. I am all bruised up but miraculously unbroken. I wasn’t even drunk at all.
chilling after a 13 hour work day, sitting outside with a cigar and seltzer.
@cpmcdill I don’t need an amp i need a modulator . I can turn the volume up and it loud but can’t make out what is being said. I have sever hearing loss. I am going to write to a charity and see if they can help. if I can get one ear working I will be happy.
Nice long hike to a mountain overlook called Hawk Rock in Duncannon Pennsylvania, then Beer, Snuff, and grilled foodstuffs
Off to run around the crazy nursing home, getting people in and out of bed and… the dirty work. I’ve never used snuff at work, but if things get to smelling terrible, a good strong snuff might be a great idea.
Went down to a town on the border (Mexico) & had a great Chicken fried steak @ Dennys. Watchin movies & snuffin now. A very nice Saturday if we could only get some rain tonight.
Cracking out the Sunday roast and a old movie
Got a cortisone injection in the foot for severe Plantar Faciitus. Seems to be helping, and I am praying it does.
Load of madrona firewood in the truck from friend. This will help the wood pile and heat the house during the cold months. Log splitter is a savour for the back and has a 2 year season on rounds. unload today, split tomorrow and stack under cover the next.
Paint, paint, paint, paint. My life is a bucket of paint.
Wrapped up a shift at the nursing home. My snuff box fell out of my pocket in a resident’s room when I was tying his shoes.
“What’s that?”
“It’s my snuffbox.”
“I didn’t know you chewed.”
“That isn’t what this is, you snuff it into your nose.”
I let him smell my McChrystal’s Clove - he smiled.
We have a new system going live on Monday and are doing last minute updates. Very hectic and stressful but the beer will taste that much sweeter tonight.
Delivering our with wind force ground spices to a friend corn miller who uses them in his flour mixtures.
Jaap Bes.
Off to West Virginia with a small portion of my snuff collection. This will be my first time taking snuff on a plane. I read the thread on traveling with snuff, and it sounds like I don’t have much to worry about.
My refrigerator died. I have a back up down stairs. transferring the contents and getting a workout. It is really hot today the air conditioner is barely keeping up. 80 inside 91 outside.
Well it wasn’t the fridge but the outlet ,what a relief. Now I just got to figure out why the outlet died. all the breakers are on. maybe I will find an electrocuted rodent, all though they normally wait till winter to move in. That don’t rule out they may had chewed just enough to cause a short.
Volunteering at the local food bank, reading “Empires of the Sea”, cleaning up after goats, farm chores.
Made it back home from West Virginia with all of my snuff. Delta gave me no grief about the snuff in my checked bag or carry-on supply. While other people were smelling farts and exhaust, I was smelling Kailash.
Today I am planning some plumbers work a.k.a. my sink is totally cloged. Off to local DYI store for 45 ft. plumbers snake. Wish me luck. Jack
Making lists of all our products and concentrations of all our used ingredients and toxicological data for the Dutch FDA. Hell of a job!

Making home made laundry detergent:
Grate 1 cup of Fels-Naptha Laundry Soap and mix with
1 cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda,
1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax.
Best laundry detergent in the world and it’s so cheap!
(An alternative to Fels Naptha is _Zote _soap.)
Amazing Zote soap!
Great for washing clothes and hands …
Remove misc stains …
Use as catfish bait …
Mosquito repellent …
Fix leaky pipes …
Operators are standing by.
Do you get a commission or something?
I never heard the “fix leaky pipes” bit before!
Oh… you left out _ “No messy suds so it rinses our easily!” _
Unfortunately no commission.
And actually I had never heard of this soap until you mentioned it.
Google yielded : http://www.ebay.com/gds/Zote-Soap-is-Great-for-Cleaning-and-Fishing-too-/10000000003252259/g.html
Same laundry detergent I make here, HD, only with some added OxyClean. Works a charm, is cheaper and much easier on the wastewater treatment facility.
I got fed up with having to pay $6 just to do laundry in my apartment building and started doing it in my bathtub instead. It was a pain, so I just got a washboard this week; it’s a LOT easier with a washboard!
I figured: Since I’m going the washboard route, why not go all the way and make my own detergent too?
Grating the soap is a lot easier and faster if you use a rotary grater. I discovered this last night when I got down near the end of my bar of soap and used a rotary grater so I wouldn’t end up grating my fingers.
Absolutely nothing. It was a hectic week at work and the little one is away at the in-laws. Time for a day off!
Picked some pears before the squirrels eat them all. they will take some time to ripen. Picked a few apples also.ate a green one. The Candida diet I am trying doesn’t allow fruit with a lot of sugars. So I think I am safe.
We’re just getting ready to take the little one for her first overnight camp at the lake. I did a trial run with her in the tent in the backyard last night and all went well but that could change in a hurry when the raccoons start sniffing around the tent in the middle of the night!
School :-q now snuffing with my TV and internet :-bd
Attending the windmills, sieving St. Omer No. 1, Weighing out spices.
@snuffmiller - what is your brand of snuff called?
Cleaning a few pipes later this morning.
Sitting in bed snuffing hedges and having a bowl of frog Morton…trying my best to get over an ear infection… Hedges helps hahaha
@SeanOCDPx You can order directly fresh from the windmill at:
@SeanOCDPx: basement_shaman did lead the way. Our snuffs are known as “De Kralingse Molens”. In Germany also known as "Zwei M
What I meant was "Zwei M
It went wrong when I tried to use the German “Umlaut” sign
Zwei Muehlen (to work around this Umlaut-thing here)
I making expensive hot sauce from my garden grown peppers, Chocolate habaneros, Golden scotch bonnets and 7 Pot Bubblegum peppers. With my candida I can’t use regular vinegar, sugar or most fruits[my normal recipe] So I using Braggs apple cider vinegar and fresh pineapple and for variation fresh garlic and sharp onion.I may use fresh strawberries and fresh blueberries in different batches.I may make some with grape tomatoes for a spicy ketchup.I just have to add a thickening agent like flaxseed powder. Those bubblegum peppers are hotter than the ghost pepper I may just leave them straight as a concentrated batch: to thin down later in the year.
still in bed with an ear infection
thanks for the recipe ideas, @basement_shaman, I’ve been harvesting red habaneros and just freezing them for use this winter but your hot sauce sounds great.
@Mouse I will save you some seeds if you like.
@basement_shaman – much appreciated!
Pick green apples yesterday off my five in one apple tree. I assume they are granny smiths. Today peeled and de-cored and sliced ,bathed in lemon juice infused water, drained and put in crock pot on low. will cook till soft then mash them ,take out some for apple sauce and continue to cook down the remainder for apple butter.and spice some with ground cinnamon.I normally add brown sugar but this year I am using stevia herb tea.Just have to balance it for sweetness without changing the apple flavor. Saved the bath water for a refreshing beverage green apple flavored lemonade. And the peels and core went in a gallon jar 3/4 full and then topped off with water to sit four weeks covered with paper towel ,end result is Apple Cider Vinegar.
Now I done for today with apples. My first batch Black walnut husk tincture is ready to be bottled in one ounce bottles with eye dropper lids. I will get to that after I smoke a pipe and enjoy some snuff
Short 2 mile walk/jog this morning. Then I finished some yard work - digging out the stumps of several dead property line bushes. My nice neighbor has offered to replant. :-h Break time now for some lunch and snuff.
Processed last year’s rustica. It has been hanging in my basement for about a year so I took it down and pulled the leaves. I’ve saved the stalks to see if I can toast them for snuff at some later time. I spritzed the leaves with distilled water to knock any residual dirt off which was very time consuming considering the number of small leaves that were on each plant. Once they’ve gone out of case a bit I will be boxing them up for storage. I coarse chopped a small sample to try in my pipe later, should be interesting.
nice, @crullers. With a year of aging it won’t be quite so nic-heavy, but still stronger than VA or burley. Did you happen to try some after it dried before aging? I did, once, rolled some up in a cigarette and got quite sick…
Yard work today. First day in over 2 weeks I have time to get to it.
planted lettuce, arugula, and spinach. The spinach will overwinter and jump next spring, the other two–depends on what kind of late fall we have, some years it’s been quite mild 'til mid-December thanks to being surrounded by ocean.
@Mouse I just cut it down, strung it and hung it in my basement last autumn without trying it. I was a bit underwhelmed with the plants: they yielded very little leaf and were a pain in the ass suckering once they started flowering.
I put about half a bowl into a caked-up MM Legend I have here, so not very much for a sample. The closest thing I can compare the smell of the unlit tobacco to is faint urine. Sounds gross but it’s not horrible. It was hard to keep lit but I probably did not dry it out enough. Smell of the burning leaf seems pretty neutral. Retrohale was very spicy like perique on steroids. I inhaled a puff and it was extremely harsh, not something I want to repeat. It did have an extremely high nic hit.
I’m going to try some again tomorrow. I can see this used as a condiment to a pipe blend. Soon I’ll be making some snuff from it.
Went to my oncologist. No good news start chemo soon.
Sorry to hear that, @basement_shaman. A pipe in your honor as you face the struggle.
@basement_shaman Sorry to hear your news. Sending positive waves / prayers and hoping that your treatment is both successful and very speedy.
Agree with both the above. My best wishes headed your way @basment_shaman.
@basement_shaman: Sorry to hear that. Hope that the treatment will be effective and wish you all the strength and the best for what’s comming.
Jaap Bes.
@basement_shaman Sorry to hear that. I wish you all the best and hope the treatment will work well for you.
@basement_shaman: Sending positive thoughts your way. Sorry to hear about your health situation. Your insight and knowledge has helped me from the beginning of my snuff journey, and, for that…I thank you, sir. Get well soon.
I have a pot of Chicken Soup on the stove.
Going to Rotterdam this afternoon to visit the Kralingse Molens with a couple of friends from the Pipe smokers forum.
@basement_shaman: hang in there, and agree with everyone here that your contributions are of the highest caliber and always learn something from you, so good medicine to you.
Taking the kids to the Fall Festival today! This is my favorite time of the year, so I’m super psyched about it. Broke out the long pants for the first time, and filled the pockets with good autumn themed tobacco products. Bernards Doppelt-Fermentiert and Old Mill Black Velvet for the snout, and Jakobsobs Flader for the lip. Winning? Winning B-)
Today Open monumentsday and as the windmills are on the national list of monuments we ware open for visitors, as we are every second Saturday of the month.
Received also a Dutch/Belgium group of pipe smokers and snuff enthousiasts. Showed them around the mill and let them sample our products. It was an enthusiastic meeting and I was glad to receive a group capable of discussing all about snuff, which is a rare opportunity here in The Netherlands. Thanks for visiting!
Jaap Bes.
P.S. I hope this time the message is not cut off half way.
@snuffmiller, It was great to visit the mills. I enjoyed your passion for the craft and your educational skills as much as I enjoyed the samples. Thanks very much.
Up to the High Desert Market for a gingerale, observing the interesting people in town for a blues festival, over to the Farmers market & picked up 2 James Lee Burke paperbacks, back home to weed whack and now snuffing some Cacao snuff & smoking some Cracker tobacco. Hoping to see some cooler weather soon in SE Arizona. :(|)
I wish you well @basement_shaman and will pray for a good outcome on your treatments. My mom went through chemo several years ago and her cancer went into remission. It’s back again and I’ve been helping to take care of her through the next round of treatment. She is fiercely independent and doesn’t like drugs or the need for assistance, but has been accepting both. It’s been tough to see such a strong woman in such a weakened state.
I’d like to share a few pics of our visit to the windmills in Kralingen last saturday. Don’t know if this is the right topic, but I hope you will enjoy them. Featuring @snuffmiller.
^^LIKE^^
Those are some awesome shots of one of the snuff Gods.
Thanks for putting up the pics Mynheer.
Sitting in class today at nursing school. I’m the only guy. Took some Lundy Foot in the bathroom. Wish I could pass this around to the ladys - but that would be disruptive at best.
@Mynheer: =D>
heading out for a walk on the beach
Pumping iron, reading textbooks, playing video games, and taking pinches.
being pissed at VW for lying. I thought I was buying a small, peppy, ‘clean diesel’, something that wasn’t a Prius…
@Mouse-Buy American and be happy. Support our economy and save our environment if that is any concern at this point.
nicmizer VW is made in the USA . Most American cars are made with foreign parts anyway.
Biodiesel is a bit more pricy if you can get it. Best option is to get a few 275 gallon tanks and pump it at home. No road taxes.
Today I start chemo treatments. They are a few hours long. I hope they work and not make me worse off. I may have to stop using oral tobacco, one of the side effects are mouth sores.I hoping I can still smoke my pipes but that may end also.
@basement_shaman Good luck!!! I hope the treatemnt goes well and with no side effects.
keep your spirits up, @basement_shaman. And keep us up to date. Chemo’s no fun but you have friends here…
Hope it doesn’t make you to sick to get on Snuffhouse basement_shaman! Chemo sounds rough, so I’m hoping it does some good for ya.
Best of luck on this round of your battle @basement_shaman. We are pulling for you!
@basement_shaman: Strength and all my best wishes for the time to come.
Jaap Bes.
@basement_shaman, all the best and lots of strength. I hope the chemo works well for you.
Thanks Guys, I will stick around til I can’t.
Today working day for the mills. Ground cinnamon on the side stones. Chopped tobacco in the tubs. Made karotten for Fijne Rotterdammer a.k.a. Doppelmops. Received a menber of the city councel to explain or problems.
Jaap Bes.
@basement_shaman get well soon buddy! Hopefully you can keep snuffing it is much safer than the other options.
@snuffmiller, was this member of the city council genuinly interested? Hope so.
@Mynheer: I think so yes.
Studying. Not as much of a chore now that I have varieties of snuff to take in between chapters.
back from a stay in a log cabin in the Berkshires and keeping an eye on the storm heading up the east coast. Apart from the hurricane we have a front moving through with high winds and a predicted 3.8" of rain tomorrow. Bumbershoots will be useless.
Had my first colonoscopy. I can think of much better uses for video cameras and far more comfortable ways to take selfies … but it’s for a good cause.
Celebrating my sons eighth birthday. Pumpkin pancakes for breakfast, pumpkin chili for lunch, and dinner will be served with homemade, from-scratch pumpkin pie. Surprised him with his first drum set this morning, now taking him to the opening of Pan in 3D. Not making much money doesn’t stop me from spoiling my family B-)
@Hitsuzen - if your son is half the drum nut I was at his age, you made his decade with that gift! Mine was this Ludwig starter kit, and I added to it for 10 years before buying another set. Good work! Hope your neighbors are cool.
@SeanOCDPx He seems pretty into it. I got my set around his age and fell headfirst in love with it. Knowing the possibility that, with his age, he may be REALLY onto it for a month or so and then totally forget about it, I got him a little pint-sized 4 piece starter kit (from Wal-Mart) for now, with the room to “expand” if his interest holds B-)
Editing the intro for my new YouTube channel (launching this Friday).
Gym, snuff, homework.
moving houseplants in ahead of likely freeze tonight. I see Aroostook, Maine got 4" of snow setting some kind of record for October. Here comes winter.
Today I had a great meet with over 50 people from the Dutch and Belgian Pipe Smokers Forum. Great day, lots of good conversaations, fine pipes and tobacco and a couple of snuffs. Tired and very content.
Just prepared new batch of Potpourri No. 1 for a Chinese customer.
Jaap Bes
Oh. Hot sauce. Good idea. I had to harvest a ton of peppers because of the early frost. Had no clue what to do with them.
Today I am digging up the chicken run (fun fun fun) which really means @cpmcdill is digging up the chicken run and I am supervising and sweeping it with a big magnet. The magnet actually is fun though. It’s to pick up the ridiculous amount of rusty metal (screws, nails, wires, staples, shavings) that are buried in the ground here so that the chickens don’t eat them or cut their feet. If I’m lucky, I’ll find some money. Every now and then I get paid for the day with old coins. I once found a vintage dime worth $5. Big bucks. I’m not being lazy though. I have a shoulder injury. I usually do at least some of my own digging.
Hot sauce is now on my list of to do for the next few days.
With a little bit of money, I swapped out my Chinese Stratocaster for a new Epiphone SG - worn cherry. Nothing crazy, because I’ve concluded that my skills will never justify anything more extravagant.
Hanging snow chutes at Eagles football stadium. Between gloves and hands being filthy mostly snus today at work except break and lunch.
Planting Tulips for a spring time array of color.
Thursday is the day for the mills. Today just enough wind to keep the stamping tubs working. So working on the St. Omer No. 1; the Latakia Ao 1860 and the Flue Cured Virginia. Also went on with the karotten for Doppelmops aka Fijne Rotterdammer. Cleaning up and receiving visitors. Forgot to check on the Tabac de Paris
Applying a coat of wax to my 20 year old truck. First time ever 8-}
jeez, hope you didn’t remove the dirt that’s holding it together!
Getting ready to head to work again. Should be getting better. Just got word that I can go full time. So I will have 2 full time jobs and a part time one that will go away at the end of the year. This should actually free up some time so I can be more active here too.
as someone who works 80 hour weeks you have my respect and sympathy. I hope you like what you do @J_S. Having turned 67 recently I am beginning to think about cutting down the hours.
@Mouse, Yes I like what I do but this summer they rewrote the contracts and cut the salary across the board, significantly. I had to find other sources of income. Hopefully, things will go back to the way they were but until then the second job will cover the loss of income. I don’t know if I can swing 80 a week until I am 67! Hope you can slow down a little!
Fighting off yet another bronchial infection!
Maybe it was brought on by our local November “warm snap”.
Out with my wife getting our 7 week ultrasound, then getting new glasses, then tonight taking the kids out to the new Peanuts movie. Pretty epic day, really. @howdydave Again? Are they sure that’s what is?
Headed on a little road trip to pick up a pug puppy.
If it was a boy, I would have named it something cool like SP, or Sam Gawith.
There’s always OM Suzette
Dang, can’t believe I didn’t think of it. Oh well, in reality, I let my girlfriend name it anyway. :-B
Thursday is the day for the mills. Just a little wind to stamp the Flue Cured Virginia, the Latakia Ao 1860 and the St. Omer No. 1. The Fijne Rotterdammer a.k.a. Doppelmops is in the fase of “ficeleren” and made 5 karotten today. They will have to ferment another 6 month. Sieved 1.2 kg FCV 250. Mowed the mill wharf for the las time this year. Als received pupils of the “practijkschool Accent”. Al together a busy day.

Have you ever thought of filming your operation @snuffmiller? I’d love to watch it happen. Not trade secrets, but everything else in sequence. If I was on the same continent even I’d volunteer there in a heartbeat.
@snuffsahoy: Check out these links. It’s almost like you are there.
http://snuffhouse.com/discussion/7558/a-visit-to-the-kralingse-molens
Just got home from a rehearsal for a Christmas Musical Revue that I am in.
@snuffsahoy: Thanks for your suggestion. It did indeed crossed my mind, but making a professional film will be lengthy operation. It is not only the snuff manufacturing, but also the operation of the windmill which has to be told. Maybe some day it will happen.

Going to see a college production of RENT.
Watching some NFL Football.Sunday is my football day =D>
mowed the rest of the leaves for the garden, emptied the gas from the mower and changed the oil, hauled topsoil for the herb garden, picked up some marking lime for the parking lot, washed and hung a couple of loads of laundry; emptied the cat’s litter box, compost bucket, and hauled trash to the transfer station, cleaned the toilet, cut out a dozen sterling bracelets for the shop. Sure is good to have a day off, lol.
Crafting invitations for my mom’s memorial luncheon in December. She passed away 2 weeks ago.
Then watching the Raiders/Vikings + Cardinal/Seahawks games.
@snuffmiller it would be a wonderful thing, I hope to see the day it is a reality
Sorry for your loss @spyder

In the Library at the University of York, surrounded by students almost all less than half my age. You can tell how well the writing is going from the fact that I’m on here…
Blood work ,Picking up Propane ,filling the gas tank and helping my sister pick up a exercise bike. It’s nice to have a purpose.
Waiting for a visit from the exterminator.
They come every 3 months or so.
post offices, picking up a tank of acetylene, bank, buying a 4" belt sander, other errands
Tuned up the golf cart, got a haircut, went to the levis outlet to get some jeans, and flannels, picked up my hockey skates from being punched, and sharpened.
Hosting a memorial service and luncheon for my mom.
Groceries for the week, haircut (finally)
BBQ and watched some NFL Football.
Choir practice at 7:30
Jumping through all sorts of hoops to make a purchase at Mr. Snuff.
Since they no longer stock stuff containers bigger than 100 g, my life is going to be difficult since I purchase nothing smaller than 200 g containers.
Work, banking, errands and relaxing.
An early trip to the supermarket, then later in the morning, Pipe Cleaning.
Fixing a computer for a relative of a relative-by-marriage (if that makes any sense) whom I have never even met. I’ve become the family go to guy for this sort of thing and it gets a little tiring sometimes. So this one is a complete Windows reinstall (Vista :-& ). Just sitting around doing Windows updates now. At least I’ll get a case of beer out of this.
could be worse, crullers–you could drive a pick-up truck and have to help your friends move.
harvested and am shelling dried beans. Looking forward to a batch of chili and some hearty soups this winter.
Finals are over, found out I made the dean’s list, and now I’m celebrating - which at this point in my life consists of sitting on my ass watching Netflix with with my girlfriend & dog, taking snuff and poking around on Snuffhouse.
congratulations, SeanOCDPx.
Thanks Mouse and basement_shaman!
SeanOCDPx well done keep on trudging the road of happy destiny.
It was a beauty of a day with a balmy 71 degrees. I ventured outdoors and went for a walk along the Schuylkill river with a pouch of rocks and slingshot in hand. A bit of target practice was my goal so I pulled back and stretched the bands to the max and released only to swear like a drunken sailor seconds later. You guessed it the rock hit me dead center on my thumb nail. first time using this deadly contraption . I do have a wrist rocket sling shot and it never gave me grief. Live and learn. I may have to drill a hole in the nail to relieve the throbbing. Needless to say my aim didn’t improve after that. I restrained myself from littering the waterways by not heaving this with gusto, frankly I may had slipped and fell in. Talk about adding insult to injury there were a few onlookers down aways certainly they heard my screams of bloody murder. That all I need to do and make the six o’clock news. Man falls in river rescue team dispatched .Man charged with throwing slingshot into river faces fines and fees for being rescued.film at eleven.
8-}
I’ve done that, hope you don’t lose the nail. they are illegal in MA, too many kids shooting out street lights I guess.
My usual monday visit to the vampire for blood work and the getting shots at the doctor’s office for pneumonia and the flu too. Also picking up a pork loin to have for new year’s while they are on sale. I am not superstitious more of a traditional meal; although I will take all the luck that comes with it.
Working my usual double shift cuz someone else quit :-w cause they couldn’t handle. So I’m stacking up my hours for a bigger check $-) for the holidays and football :D/
Thursday is always for the windmills. Enough wind to stamp a new batch of Latakia Ao 1860. A new batch of Hermbstedt’s Brasil was also made. We also pulled a couple of karotten for the St. Omer No.1. And last but not least cleaned the balcony of De Ster from algae.
Busting my ass at work again working a double shift.Thank God I always carry snuff on me so I don’t have to take a 10min.smoking break.I usually just go to the bathroom and Snuff up fast kine.
Just started once again working a double shift :-L well at least I got the weekend off :D/
Went and saw Krampus with my dad, and the greatest thing happened. I pulled out my snuffbox which had some Christmas snuff in it, and offered him some, half jokingly. He opened the lid, took a pinch and had a snuff like a pro! The only thing he did that I thought was a little amiss was that he closed a nostril. Either way, I was kind of shocked… and proud. A couple of sneezes, but he said “Boy that really clears ya up! I like it.”
People don’t often take me up on a pinch of snuff, but when they do, it makes me happy.
Christmas shopping.
And by Christmas shopping I mean buying last minute gift cards for everyone at the 24hr drugstore.
We do gifts on Christmas Eve, so there’s that. Unfortunately I also have to work tonight… so there’s that also. Bah, humbug.
Just ordered myself part of a new vaping setup, hopefully ill be puffing out clouds like a steam train by the next time i get paid!
Staying cozy by my TV watching the 8hr. Yule log burn. Xmas tunes, hot butter rum and family. Life is great and happy Holliday to all of the fellow snuff community!
Family stuff. I mention my new snuff hobby to my mom, and what does she do? She finds Heartwood snuffboxes in a store to give to me for Christmas. She’s awesome.
Just ironing out a wordpress site I plan to use for snus related reviews and info etc. Link in Sig, feedback obviously appreciated. First review (Ettan original portion) is up.
(apologies if it messes up, I’m still trying to get the look the way I want it)
Relaxing, video games, snuff and visiting some family today.
I’ve got 10 days off work for the holidays!
Went to Laughlin, Nevada and played roulette. Won close to a thousand bucks. I see a big snuff order in my future.
Burning off brush, tree limbs, and old fence posts in a big bonfire. Snuff goes well with big bonfires, I think. So would a good beer, but I didn’t have that with me. Darn.
dealing with another bout of Lyme Disease. On a good note, today is the last day the shop is open until mid-May.
Long overdue cutting of the cake.
3D Printing a case for the Raspberry Pi Zero i have arriving in the mail today.
I’m still undecided on which type of project i’d like to use it in. Some ideas i’ve been kicking around.
- Fitness tracker type device.
- Digital disc golf scorecard that tracks more than just the score (disc thrown, gps measure throws etc).
- A ukulele companion with chord charts, scales, tuner, a songbook, lyrics app for others to sing along.
- A stolen bicycle recovery device with gps and sms features.
- Designing my own board game with it or somehow integrating it into a board game i already own?
@noisebox Sounds like you might like littleBits! They have an arduino kit so you can prototype pretty much anything you can think up. I use the Korg kit which are essentially analogue synthesizer legos. =) A little spendy, but I got a few kits 50% off when Radio Shack started closing shop.
@Noisebox A Raspberry Pi is on my to-buy list. I want to program it to use as a PID controller attached to a crock pot so I can cook my own snus. They look like fun.
@SHbickel Those are very cool! And at 50% that’s a steal. I wish i had thought about hitting up the closing RS in my area.
@crullers That’s a great project idea, keep me updated when you get started. Have you made snus in the past?If so; Where do you acquire appropriate air-cured tobacco leaf for snus?
@Noisebox I haven’t made snus yet but I’ve read many accounts of others who have. Slow cooking over a longer period of time is where a PID comes in handy. I have 2 years worth of home grown tobacco still ageing so I will be using some of that for snus. Others have made it from whole leaf tobacco which can be ordered online. I don’t expect to start anything serious until the end of this year.
Saw my Opthamologist for my semiannual checkup.
20/20 (corrected)
eye pressure 20
good fixation
good field of vision.
Packing snuff in our new snuff boxes.
Just found out that my Spiritual Father, Archimandrite Athanasy (Mastalsky) died on Friday.
We had a two way relationship: Fr. Athanasy was my spiritual counselor and I was his snuff supplier.
Archimandrite Athanasy admitted me into “The Brotherhood of Sanctified Sniffers”.
I was never quite sure whether this was a widespread brotherhood within the Orthodox Monastic Community, or it was just the three of us. With all of his international connections, it could have been either one.
I’ll see ya’ in a bit Father Athanasy!
sorry for your loss, howdydave.
My condolences @howdydave
My sincere condolences and I am sure that he will be snuffing in heaven.
@howdydave: Sorry for your loss.

Spent most of the day at home doing work, a rare treat anymore and called several places looking for quotes on removing a tree from the yard. Good day overall, lots of snuff and a couple of pipes too.
I’ll be heading to the Washington state caucus as soon as I can get out of the office. I will be sleepily joining as I’ve been up for 27 hours running a Release at work. =(
Got out and played Disc Golf at a new to me course 10 minutes away. It was muddy but what a gorgeous day. It was a balmy 62 degrees and I enjoyed it despite of the slipping and sliding across the terrain. The van’s got a bit moist next time I try boots.
Went out on a nice walk today. Trying to enjoy this sunshine while its here. Hopefully it holds up until tomorrow.
Shopping the pipe sites for a first briar, been smoking cobs for almost three years it’s about time to step up my game.
Painting the bathroom
pruning fruit trees
Packing tins, filling orders and playing with Miss Lilly and don Bosco while Chloe the Maine Coon Guard Kitty acts as umpire
Sitting with my dog and studying for an exam - all day long. Boring stuff not worth mentioning, but man, how much better these kinds of days are with a snuff collection to break up the monotony,
Was out earlier in this blazing heat playing Disc Golf ,Total swamp ass, soaked to the bone and I gave this little guy a shower. He had tried to bury himself in the middle of the trail. I spotted him just before he was under my foot. Looked like he could use a little cooling off. I had my McC O&G great outdoors snuff.
Working in the Chemistry section of the lab today but will be moving into the Blood Bank after dinner. We’ve already seen several MVA’s and a few GI Bleeds so it should be a busy night. My snuff container is packed with GH Dark Plug that I ground into snuff and it’s great. Take care, everyone!
Luckily not going to the vet. My pug busted out of the kitchen while I was at work and went to town on my tin of Covent Golden. Snuff everywhere! She picked it out of a table full of snuff tins… I would have taken her for a Banana’s Foster fan. She must not have consumed much, cause she’s totally fine. I’m just going to pretend she sniffed the perfect doggy dose and is chilling contently.
I’ve spent the last two hours carefully constructing a letter to my boss, telling him exactly what I think of him. Going to deliver it by hand tomorrow and I think his reaction won’t be pretty. I don’t care, I’ve had enough.
Preparing snuffs for an orderfrom Germany.

chilling
I’m with @Mouse just chilling and watching the world go by in slow southern fashion. Hot and steamy enough for a few pinches of O&G, a tall, sweaty glass of lemonade and a few huge dogs at my feet. They’re still convinced Chloe is coming around the corner any second. Far be it from me to talk them out of that notion.
@SeanOCDPx I hope your Pug is doing well. Give her some Spotted Dick next time
Yeah chefdaniel, I was thinking she’d like your snuff better… moron probably would have ate the whole thing though!
Well, back to when I had to vacuum an entire tin of spilled snuff… I still get to smell it from time to time - my vacuum cleaner smells great!
@chefdaniel 36.95 for 40 grams is that a real price?
Baseball field all day with my oldest son. Last day of the season here.
Another fast paced night here in the Blood Bank … just getting a short break while incubating some cells.
Lazy Sunday morning browsing snuffhouse after not being here for quite some time with my two week old son sleeping in my lap while my wife catches up on some well deserved sleep too.
Trying to stay cool on these last days of summer. Come February I be wishing for this heat.
@Harlequin congrats on having your son . Don’t blink or you’ll miss something. I hope you guys become best friends!
Super happy!! Lined up 4 New spots to trap today. About 1600 acres of land to cover. Should be a busy winter.
Going to a family cook out and we are going to make some props for our Dungeons and Dragons games. Taverns, houses, boats, and the like to go with our character miniatures.
making fresh salsa
Hanging out with my four month old daughter while my wife is visiting her twin sister in the NICU. Can’t wait for her to come home and for our family to be reunited!
Preparing Potpourri No. 1 a tobacco free snuff for our German retailer.
Made 2 more jars of Coon bait today. The first batch rotted to a sweet smell. I filled the top of the jar with salt to preserve it. I use these baits in pocket sets on the water. My land sets are done with canned corn and molasses for a sweet bait. Then all of my dog proof traps are filled with hard corn mixed with floating pellets for fish ponds (and a little squirt of crawfish oil). That makes up my 3 raccoon baits.
Today I also made a new jar to let eggs rot in. The big jar is a gallon and holds 6 dozen eggs. If you were to screw the lid on it would build up pressure and explode. If you leave the lid off fly’s will get in it and ruin it with maggots. The tube on top is super glued to the lid. It lets escaping air into the second jar filled with water. The air will bubble up thru the water without letting fly’s get into the jar. It will render down to a black paste when done. I use it as coyote bait. It doesn’t smell as horrible as you would think when it is done. Rotten black eggs are a delicacy in some countries.
Since it is raining , My chore for today is to thoroughly maintenance my pipes that are long over due. Trim kake, Alcohol clean stems and soak in oxy clean , and brush shanks. Then a wax job.
Fertilized my KY21 tobacco plants, and patching up a RHL server at work.
Going to watch some movie with a can of Bud.
Spent the day snuffing and reading psychiatry.
Spent 4 hours in the morning working (Saturday).
Getting more existential questions in my mind (which is whenever my mind doesn’t wander)
Did some work outside and feed the horses (removed some horse shit as well), baked stuff, did rework my
website and listen music. Later we will watch 1 or 2 movies.
Rained yesterday so I figured I do some house work, Tried to find the bottom of my desk, I can almost fit a coffee cup on it now, Just had to take all these dirty pipes off that needed cleaning. Got 9 of them done so far, going to tackle the rest if I don’t get distracted. Enjoy life!
Just got back home from holy liturgy. I’m going to have a cup of tea and polish my pipes. I usually use Decatur Pipe Shield in between using the carnauba wax with the polishing wheel.
I love polishing the old pipe too. But I smoke a cob
Working the closing end of the day on the dock. I’m on the semi arid side of Bisti and Colorado desert and the clouds are circling the valley. It’s humid . I can’t hardly wait to be in my boxers in front of a fan on my couch.
