B

I love 2112 and Hemispheres. In fact I got that Moving Pictures and Farewell to Kings on vinyl. All great albums. It amazes me how consistently amazing they’ve been for how many decades. I honestly don’t know how people can not like Rush. And every time people tell me they don’t I tell them to see ENT and neurologist to find out what’s wrong with their ears. And while I can play some of their bass lines I could never even half pull off sing too, no matter how much I practice it. @nicmizer just have to make sure you caught that I was making fun of people that don’t like Rush.

B

@bolbam420 I was actually just telling someone that I think scenery is a good intro point for Jazz. You don’t need any special ear to enjoy it or get what’s happening in it. Though if you apply that experience you’ll notice more after several listening. Jazz is great however it can be hard to get into. There are so many great musicians and so many different types of jazz (even from one artist sometimes), but I say it’s best just to listen to what you enjoy and things will progress. Oh and there are certainly jazz snobs but they’re best to avoid.

Saving Grace - Shekinah

A

@Rogue    I just found   Saving Grace  on the web.  Never heard it before.

At my age the words are a bit difficult to memorise.

I envisage ending up in an old folks home one day.  Lots of genteel old ladies and gentlemen, all with impeccable manners and dress sense.  Everyone tucked up in bed. We have had our regulation cup of cocoa and teeth in a glass of water on the bedside tables.

All of us sleeping soundly.

When all of a sudden, a new boy is admitted in the middle of the night.      It’s you.

Looking like a Hell’s Angel.  Massive tattooed arms, face and all, beard like a busted sofa and a music machine playing Saving Grace at full belt.

The stuff of nightmares.

S

@insufflemus Incunabula is my favorite of theirs but I suppose it is a more common album…

V

Oh, I like quite a few Autechre cuts, too, including entire Incunabula! I discovered them, watching D. Aronofsky’s “Pi” (great movie, by the way).

S

@volunge I am more into Aphex Twin, but while they are considered the same genre more or less, a good chance someone might not like one based on the other…

I

Cool to see some Autechre fans here! Incunabula is certainly my favourite of their early work, way ahead of its time. But their recent output just scratches an itch for me… my ADHD brain craves the complexity, haha. Aphex is great too, but a lot “sillier” (?) which some people might not dig as much. His Selected Ambient Works albums are among my top plays though, fantastic stuff.

V

@Insufflemus, there are some gems in Autechre’s later works as well. I dig “perlence subrange 6-36” from Quaristice Quadrange EP (2008) - long (58 min.) mesmerizing loops, so akin to the Selected Ambient Works vol. II (one of my favourites as well) in its effect. I’ve played this Ae’s track in “repeat-forever” mode on low volume throughout countless nights.

There’s that feeling of sacral anxiety and bliss which this kind of music induces to me. Or should I rather say - mystical experience. But sometimes I just dive into the straightforward beat and go out of my head with tracks like 180db from Syro or jump into meat-mincer of old school rave/jungle/hardcore at max volume.

Now floating with Atom Heart - Live At Sel i/s/c (1994).

B

Blaze Foley- Clay Pigeons. I never considered myself a country fan, but holy shit this is a perfect song.

S

@insufflemus while Aphex Twin certainly has some silly moments in my opinion he strikes on genius on a few occasions and I am not sure I would extend that notion to Autechre despite liking their music.

I

@snuffandsympathy On second thought, “silly” was the wrong term – “playful” sums it up better. I think of Aphex Twin kinda like a mad scientist, as compared to the more sober approach in Autechre.

@volunge Very well said! There’s a unique sort of feeling that comes with surrendering to a barrage of sound in this way, whether it be drone/ambient or chopped up craziness. Quadrange is right up there in my own favourites, though The Plc Ccc steals the show for me on that record. By the way, the boys dropped another hour-long ambient dirge at the end of NTS Sessions called All End, maybe you’d dig it!

Things with offensive lyrics - TISM “I might be a…” & The Prodigy with there charming “Smack my … up” - Ah the memories :))

J

@MisterPaul I lived, still do, middle of the south coast in the UK. Born in 72. I travelled around following the new age travellers free festivals, Spiral Tribe etc, for years, and went to most of the first large rave licensed ticket events around the country. You mentioned the Prodigy, i was lucky enough to be a frequent member at Sterns nightclub in Worthing, a most excellent famous venue, and i saw The Prodigy in 1991 there. I cannot describe what it was like, it was a " you had to be there" thing. Sterns was truly astonishing, anyone who ever went never forgot. “Sterns Worthing” google search will bring up a wiki entry plus many other results. WHen it closed, soon after, i became “normal”, and cleaned my act up.

Aerosmith, having just heard the announcement of their retirement. I saw them most notably at Wembley Arena in the …ahem…late 90’s.
“It’s not goodbye it’s peace out”

V
S

I was just listening to one if my favorite bands Built To Spill - I would hurt a fly. Great band with great long guitar solos in many songs.

M

Saw them a couple of times in the 80’s. I believe at least one of them is from Maine, so they used to play the Portland Civic Center fairly regularly.

S

ZZ Top ‘Well dressed man’.

E

Ode to Joy - Beethoven’s 9th

S

Michael Jackson - They don’t care about us (unedited version) Great song!

V

C

Mostly stoner, desert, psychedelic and progressive rock stuff - currently blasting Fugazi but probably some Kyuss later.

J

I have just listened to this wonderful piece:
Suite Bergamasque: Clair de Lune - Daniela Live at Theater Ulm de Klavierklasse Uni Ulm en #SoundCloud

C

I’ve been listening to a lot of electronic music lately, getting ready to play a live set which will be streamed as part of a virtual festival; Murcof, Jan Jellinek, Oval, Aphex Twin and more.

N

Western Addiction. Punk band on Spotify

B

Charley Crockett, favorites are Welcome to Hard Times and Tennessee Special.

DJ Scorpio @ Pleasuredome Vibealite United States Of Hardcore 2 01-03-1997

Cypress Hill today with some nice strawberry gelato sticks to smoke and todays snuff of the day is F&T HDT.

I know the life of a rockstar, Living large.

Highly recommend the skull and bones album altho all the music is the cream of the crop hence why cypress hill rose to the top, But they dont eat pigs as a pig is a cop

V

Temples of Boom used to be my favourite album of theirs. Wouldn’t mind listening to it now, if I were alone.

Cracking album that. good taste.

B

Rode the motorcycle to work this morning listening to Bobby Caldwell - What You Won’t Do for Love

C

Sunn O)))… I’m not wearing enough robe.

C

Blasting some Zeke out today, might have to tone it down a little later when I am pairing up with some colleagues.

C

Not heard the name Scorpio for a very long time - pretty sure I had hardcore tape packs glued in to my walkman in the mid-90s; loved those savage sets and then in to some jungle madness from the Rat Pack or Grooverider!

C

J S Bach Goldberg Variations

Scorpio and Producer are the mutts nuts. As is musicmaker. Ye plenty of good dj’s in the rave scene good to see some still keeping the scene alive hats of to them. Ye love Ratpack another cracking DJ along with micky b, micky finn, dj rap, andy c. I could go on and on lmao Im glad I managed to hang on to my tapes. Ripped many now and old VHS stuff. Good times good people cracking vibes.

I have many Gig’s of tapes / vinyl rips. Canny beat some good tunes…

C

Despite living in the arse-end of the UK, there used to be a monthly DnB night nearby and we had Micky Finn & Andy C as regulars; in the summer, we had more DnB nights and more names right up to the mid-00s; those were the days!

Many years ago, I was a music journalist and I ended up being invited to cover something called Bangface: The Weekender. Absolutely epic line-up, Altern-8, Utah Saints, The DJ Producer and more - absolute rave heaven for me!

Bangface still runs and you see plenty of legends on the line-ups - not sure I have the chops for it anymore, but I’ll give it a good go!

B

It was an Iron Maiden sort of morning going to work today.

N

Saw Iron Maiden live 2 years ago, they put on an amazing show.

A

Nostalgia from my teenage years when I was listening to punk and was a rebel skater

A

Continuing the nostalgia theme one of the best guitar solos out there

P

Pedo pop star Mikey on the shop radio. Do they still play Cosby on comedy radio?

I sniffed some snuffy weiss this morning…I don’t think white powder at work is a good idea.

Getting down with the sound’s of the finn

From the game “As Dusk Falls” – recommended to me be @BarlimanButtersnuff

Thought I recommended It, Anyhow do you like it?

B

@115 nah it’s alright, I’ll steal your credit

C

@115 @BarlimanButtersnuff Oops!

And yeah that game was really good. Hit a lot of emotional/entertaining notes for me – in a good way.

The graphic novel art style took a bit getting used to, but I thought it worked.

X

Right now, I’m listening to an owl that lives outside my window and comes out each evening. You can set your clock by it. I don’t know what kind it is though. I like to hear nature in the morning with the birds chirping and owls at night.

C

Whoooo doesn’t? The owls have been coming and going for us this summer.

P

My cats. I know they know the digital Arabic numeral 6. They watch the clock in the evening and get loud when that clock rolls onto 6. Yet they still explode with sound when I’m up at 5.

C

Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, when my cat permits.

P

A vacuum pump drawing down ~2000 ft³ to 23 Hg prior to displacing them with 2200 psi of compressed nitrogen. Sounds like a cheeseburger lunch.

It gives me plenty of time to enjoy some gold rush and break in a new hanky.

I don’t think you will ever beat the sounds of clashing metal, grinders and MIG welding.

P

Or a dry, thick, climb cut into a billet.

B

Pete & Baz Plugged In.

C

Pete & Dud as ‘Derek and Clive’. Hilarious, but not for the easily offended.

N
F

Wagner Tristan and Isolde to go with the German snuff.

I have heard that Wagner was the End of music and what we are issued now is noise that we are to believe is music.

V

On a loop for the third evening in a row.

N

Listened through the entire album tonight, and it’s very good, but do find myself gravitating to this in particular.
