Hello,

I asking myself how could be the new line of (4) news toasts by the indians Dholakia in comparaison of traditionals ones.

Personally I’ve ordered another new “African” in blind, but I find it’s sound good for an indian snuff.I"ll tell you my impressions.

I like the diversity of traditionals inspirated ones of them(Manjul,Kamal,Sparrow cool or not)as if I have good pleasures with Sun ones variéty too.

For the moment I’ waiting to know more about them.

W

Working on it, these are different enough to take some time. At one point I thought I was having a Dholakia White flash back. I am having to concentrate of my technique more than I thought I would. These four are a challenge. Sorry, but all I can gather so far is a !!! with a lot of ???

S

I agree with Whalen … these are hard to pin down … Snuffster gave a fine review of all of them, but i am not well versed in scents enough to pinpoint all that he noted in his reviews … you’d have to search for that thread …

but to me … while I have only tried two of them … High Dry and Super Strong … it is tough to discern any scent when they pulverize your senses upon sniffing … but … if you take a sniff of them, and snuff nothing else for about 1/2 hour … the scent reveals itself … a toasty blend with that off note sweet/sour of the Indian traditionals.  I think it is a nice blend of Indian traditional snuffs and the smokey/sour action in US Scotches.

Hopefully I will be able to add to the context of this thread, as others will undoubtedly … but my initial reaction is i like them … will be opening the other two this weekend and spend some time comparing over the next week or so.  I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Which one is the dark toast?

G

The amazing is the number of variation about toasts, but I’ll scearch the subject of Snuffster.

S

the reviews are here…

G

Thanks Slide,

They seems to be quite rich and différents each other according this appetizing review,

I see there are severals references to américans Scotches, notes of smokey…

I have now a better desire to know them. The african one with menthol and similarities with NTSU will be the first, like that, it seems to be a new piece in this variation of menthol-spice tipicaly indian.

It’s always good to have new products of quality in the snuff range.I’ve seen that Abraxas has got two new products too…It’s a good moment,I’ve read that F.Tranter has stop all.

G

@KebAMP it’s the 4th of the review ,but, his name ?

S

I have never seen Dholakia Black but if it is black…none of these toast are just a touch lighter. There are subtle differences in their colors but in the light I was using I had a hard time picking which appeared darker to me. I think I narrowed it down to two.

If Dholakia Black is indeed Black I would assume the final version of the darker toast changed from the tested version.

K

@Slide  Dholakia Black is charcoal black.

@Gandalf I have already ordered 25g each of D. HDT and Super Strong Toast. I want to make another order but I want 50g of the dark one instead of 25g. So yes I need its name.

S

@KebAMP … it is Dholakia African

S

In the review he described 4 toast plus the African

Toast No 4. The only one of the toasts that does not work from the same, basic flour. This has a fine mill but is a rich dark brown in colour, maybe just a touch lighter than Dholakia ‘Black’.

In any case here is a picture of the 4 toast

Super        Medium
High Dry    Regular

K

Hmmm. I guess we’ll call it the mysterious toast then. Thanks @Slide, that was very helpful.

G

It’s quite hard to see differences,at least on photo.

S

That’s how hard it is to tell the difference with them sitting in front of you. At least to my eyes…

J

I think you got the lids mixed up.

K

Dholakia labels are on the side. So it’s either

  1. a case of mislabel by Dholakia

  2. a plain change of product from the samples reviewed by Snuffster

(or 3. Snuffster has reviewed D. Black by mistake !! )

W

I think that the Toast described as #4 did not make it into production, It does not seem to be amongst my 4 toasts. The most unusual one to me is the Super strong, seems to be a toasted Fubar tobacco base. All of mine match the picture above, starts with very light brown, and gets lighter fast. No smoke to speak of. Hmmm, Fubar Toast!

W

KebAMP - Snuffster made no mention of Barnyard poop, so it’s not the Black. D. Black is unmistakable IMHO. The Super Strong gets my standout award. But I am strongly attracted to that Fubar base tobacco smell, it has an unmistakable smell all it’s own.

K

@Whalen That would make sense.

That makes me think, anyone ever tried to home made toast a very dark tobacco like latakia?

S

@Juxtaposer

I may have mixed up the lids but I did not mix up the labels…as they are pasted to the side. The lids have nothing on them.

Regardless…I am merely demonstrating the color of the 4 snuffs. As I indicated earlier I suspect the final product changed from the beta product that was tested.

A

I reviewed what I was sent - 4 toasts, one with a darker flour than the other three, and one marked ‘African’. They were in small numbered plastic bags like Toque use. Of course there is no guarantee the snuffs I reviewed are the same ones that have now been marketed; for all I know there was further devlopment as whalen suggests. Over to Mr Snuff I guess…

G

I think the better solution is to try them, but begining by  witch one ? A big problem ! (

M

Just got mine yesterday, will be trying them on Teusday my next day off. Also will be trying Fubar Grunt for the 1st time. Wish me luck :))

C

Color me picky but I wish Dholakia would use traditional labeling for their products.  The brown leaf design just doesn’t do it for me.

G

Anycase I have tried the African one,his texture, his color, his scent, are particular. It should looks a bit like NTSU Green in my imagination(I have enjoy only the regular one for the moment).

A

@mr.snuff - why don’t you set up a tasting panel? Maybe 10 members who try and review new products, pre-release?

S

now snuffster is onto something!  there should definitely be a newbie nose on that panel … i.e. me!!!  ha!  ;)

M

Yeah, let your Snuffhouse family help you out here! You need some American tasters too, right?

J

Hell, Id pay shipping.

G

Whats happends ? what I’ve heard ?? I have won something ?

W

Anybody get the chance to form an opinion of the Super strong toast? I get the distinct Fubar base tobacco flavor, but the grind makes this one real tough to take properly, guess that is how the nicotine hit gets going so fast. Man that has to be one hell of a snuff grinder that Namrata uses, this stuff just forms a vapor upon snuffing, wowsa!

K

To me the best way to describe Super Strong would be “Sparrow on steroids”.
