can any one help me walnuts are one of my favourite foods bead/cake/picked ect. but is any one making walnut flavour snuff

A

No, in a word. It might be feasible to flavour a plain SP yourself though. I doubt simply grinding a walnut into some snuff would liberate enough flavour but you could possibly let a few ground nuts infuse in the liquor of your choice for a few days and experiment with that? Toque also do a peanut butter snuff that might be to your taste?

G

I made some with this.

D

o well it looks like d.i.y snuff time , tar alot snuffster and gimpy for the help

G

You can also take some Red Cap RYO and toast it along with some freshly shelled walnuts. To make a Toasted Walnut flavored tobacco. to then grind into snuff. I just tried it. I don’t know yet how long the sent will last but it snuffs good at the momment.

D

wot is red cap ? looks like i’m about to start making my own snuff . deep end jump in newbee sink or swim this could be fun

G

Red Cap is a RYO cigarette, pipe tobacco, I find it in the liquor store that also sells tobacco. Type it in your browser see what result you get in your area. It is also cheap. (inexpensive)

D

tar alot for the info gimpy , i think red cap will be a no go hear in the uk but as i have some natural american spirit rolly tobacco .looks like backing tray and walnut time . note to my self tnink your trying to make snuff not more cakes

G

LOL on the baking. I said red cap but as you say any plain tobacco will do. the tobacco will be dry so be careful of your temp. all you want to do is have it high enough to cause the oils in the walnuts to ooze out and be absorbed by the tobacco. to high a temp will burn the tobacco.

M

Error. Removed

D

i can see where you are comeing from low temp + walnut oil + tobacco then grind into snuff . yep looks like home made snuff time . have to let you all know if i can git it right , tar a lot for all your help all that have replyed daz

M

OR you can just take a snuff which compliments walnuts whilst eating them. A mouth full of walnuts and a pinch of snuff sounds pleasant about now. Washed down with tonic water.

N

Walnut pipe tobacco has no walnut flavour. It is named after the street it is made on. It is an Anericanised version of an English mixture, mostly burley with a small amount of latakia, virginia, perique, cavandish and a couple of other tobaccos added as condiments.

J

Sternecker’s Straubinger schmalzler has scents reminiscent of walnuts.

B

Yeah what juxtaposer said. I honestly wonder if it uses some type of nut oil. It may be a case of projecting expectations. The oil left on my fingers after pinching Straubinger reminds me of the oil left on my fingers when working with walnuts in the kitchen (I had to dice them up for a few dishes not many so it was easiest to just use a knife instead of a food processor.

D

tar alot for the replys, the sternecker.s straubinger schmalzler looks like it may be close to wot i’m looking for walnuts . have to send for some when i put in my next order

P

Here is some useless information: James Upshall, the venerable pipe makers and tobacco blenders, are still based in the little village of Tilshead in Wiltshire. Until the 1970s they sold a small selection of snuffs including Walnut Snuff. This was, I believe, the only commercially made walnut snuff ever to appear on the market.

D

re walnut snuff a update for all of you got some sterneckers strraubinger schmalzzler. bad bad smell i hate this shuff it’s the pit’s any ideer how i can git rid of 100g of snuff that you hate got some more schmalzlers at the some time . bernard klostermishung in a 10g pack and bernard gekachelter in a 50g pack wot where the germans thinking when they made this snuff. it’s gross i do’t like this german snuff at all it sucks so thats 160g of snuff heading for the bin, wot a wast of money…

T

Dang why did you buy that much??

D

it came in 10,50 100g packs only and i had to try it just in case needed at walnut fix thats all

T

Sorry to hear you didn’t like it what a drag. There’s SO MANY snuffs out there you’re bound to find one or three that work for you

J

The Sternecker and the Gekachelter would benefit from portioning a bit into a box for use. This will allow the snuff to breathe a little for best results. Perhaps with a bit more experience you may come to appreciate this style of snuff. If not you will have no problem trading it away here at the snuff house. If you could give us a quick run down of the snuffs that you do like I’m sure we could make some suggestions that would better suit your tastes.

D

i know where you are comeing from transistor in love with wos kendal drown ,jockey club and toque xmas pudding and cheese & bacon plus a 50/50 peanut butter and chocolate toque mix. looks like uk snuff for me for the time being ?? but open to ideers

D

@dazz34, hang onto it, you never know how your tastes might change over time. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way! Someday you might have a completely different reaction to the snuff and be glad you kept it. Or you could trade it, or give it to someone who’s just starting out snuffing. Just my .02. I think finding some walnut flavoring and adding to your preferred snuff would be your best bet. I looked at my favorite flavoring store but they don’t have walnut flavoring - they do have about everything else though. Figures. Good luck with your endeavor.

S

@ ddavelarson, that’s just the advice that I was going to give. But I can’t just Imagen a walnut snuff. They smell of nothing to me and when you break the shell the kernel looks like the inside of a cats ear!

X

I’m going to cry if Straubinger and Gekachelter go in the trash.

J

Some of my best snuffs were ones that my first reaction was “yuck”. Bernard Feinster Kownoer, SG Black Rappee, and Taxi Red to name a few. Scent memory can have a big influence when first contacting similar scents. Approached positively (as in nicotine reward) negative emotions connected to scent memory will disappear quickly.

D

the walnut smell comes out when they have been cooked ,omg they do look like the inside of a cats ear. on the plus side i will hang on to the snuff for a bit to see if my taste changes if not i will bag it up in small samples of 10g and put it on the trade page for pass around some one may like it… so no need to cry it will not be bined by me, given away or traded maybee but not put in the bin…

D

That’s the spirit! I’m really curious when you find some walnut flavoring how that turns out. Keep us posted.

D

I’ve found a new appreciation lately for the schmalzler’s by only taking light pinches of it. Has Ludwig Sternecker ever been on this site? Just curious.
