Does anyone know if Viking has a web site or have any information on the company/manufacture itself? I have been searching the web for anything on The Viking company but can’t find anything other than links to mrsnuff and back to this site.

C

It is apparently manufactured by Samuel Gawith. Some SG snuffs are the same as the Viking snuffs, for example SG Silky Dark = Viking Dark and GS Kendal Brown (plain I think) = Viking Brown.

S

Interesting… I would have never guessed that it was SG due to the fact that I have tried several Samuel Gawith snuffs over the years and never enjoyed them as much as Viking… Good to know however.

S

Viking is manufactured on contract by SG for mysmokingshop as their house brand. Viking blonde = base flour for sg sp no 1 high mill viking brown = SG Kendal Brown Plain (although I find the kendal slightly coarser) Viking dark = SG Silky dark = Snuffstore black magic Thor’s Hammer = Gift ftom the gods (seriously though, seems to be viking dark with some sweeter virginia added) It makes sense to me because SG is the master of coarse moist unscented snuff.

I

I knew Dark was SG Silky Dark, but haven’t seen SGSD listed for sale in a while, so I’ve been buying Viking (either version is my favorite snuff). I didn’t know it was the same as SS’s Black Magic though. If i stick to the 25g tins, I’d switch to Snuff Store, as it’s about 13% less expensive…but then, I snuff so much of the stuff that I’m probably going to end up buying the 500g can which brings significant savings and is only available with the Viking branding.

S

That’s what I’ve done. I use so much Thor’s and VD (my main snuffs, 90% of the time one or the other is in my nose) that I bought 1kg of each.

S

Good to know… thanks guys. P.S. @SandwhichIsles… love the Avatar… I’m an Ork player myself but I love crushing the Empires finest every chance I get.

S

@SnuffnStuff It is better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself. Remember Armaggedon. Ave Imperitor!

S

@SandwhichIsles … hmm interesting… I only have one word for you… WAAAGH!!! :))

S

@snuffnstuff the worst thing you can ever hear after ‘WAAAAGH!’ on the horizon is the company commissar saying 'No falling back, fix bayonets."

S

It’s probably a good thing the Boyz are to stupid to know what that means… Haha haha. Have you played with the new rules? My wife and I had twins a little over a year ago and I just haven’t had time to try them out yet… Wow… I totally hijacked my own thread hear with 40k talk.

S

No I haven’t, it costs so much to upgrade books that no one in my group has bothered yet. Plus, being a family man myself I have to choose between things like snuff and rulebooks. And it’s like working on a dissertation every time GW puts out a new edition, then you have the six or so months of your group arguing about everthing… Anyway, hijacking over unless we start a thread in the OT. I’ll bet there are more 40k guys around here.

S

Same… I have been spending most of my hobby money on the new D&D books. Hobby gaming thread would be cool!

S

Okay @SandwhichIsles I started an OT thread for RPG/Miniature War Gaming.
