Hey I recently got a 25 g tin of the viking menthol sort of expected it to be coarse and dark like the spear and viking dark. However its probably of a medium grind I would say and very fluffy. Reminds me alot of samuel gawith zip. Is it possible I got a mis labeled tin? Does anyone have viking menthol that can relate it to the dark or spear? Or it is supposed to light and fluffy?
I am aware of that Sam gawith makes it but from the previous reviews I read people made it seem as though it is basically a mentholated version of the dark. This is nowhere near any of the other vikings I have. I still like it but I was very much looking forward to the grind and feel of the viking behind the menthol.
You may need to seriously consider making your own with Viking Dark as the base and an English Medicated along the lines of the Dr. Vereys. Blend small amounts until you hit your bullseye. Cheers
Yea that sounds like a good course of action. I tried mixing a little of the viking dark with the paul gotard pear from the limited edition bottle and it turned out very well. The dark muted the menthol blast just a bit and made the pear smell delicious. But I will Def try viking dark with a medicated. Maybe mcchrystals English menthol. I have never tried the Dr vereys but they do sound quite delicious.
While on the topic my tins of dark and Spear were only about half full is that just the weight of the snuff and that’s why they aren’t quite as full?
There was a recent thread on under filled tins. You may want to find it. I know SG has some issues and they make Viking. Worth a shot.
Thanks for that I know my viking menthol was filled to capacity but the dark and spear were only about half full. I have really come to enjoy the viking menthol though. Has a bit of citrus behind the menthol that makes it very enjoyable.
So I got another viking menthol in my order today and there is a significant difference I am now almost positive that my first viking menthol which is in the center of the image is Sam gawith zip. Which doesn’t bother me as I really enjoy the zip but I though I would share it with all. I am a huge fan of the viking line and am.by no means trying to put down viking or Sam gawith.
