I know, most of you are crazy for Viking Dark. I like it, but I’m crazy for the Brown.

Slightly less nicotine, which I think makes it easier to use all day without getting that “strung out” feeling. Great burn, I think better than the Dark. For me, the aroma is the star of the show. Earth and livestock. That may put some off, but it’s magnificently appealing to me. Lastly, the drip is excellent.

Viking Brown is my new favorite Kendal Brown, displacing GH Kendal Brown, which is also excellent.

It is the only Viking snuff I’ve tried…I really dig the coal-tar plain tobacco scent, and the messy, coarse, moist grind, and the nose burn…

M

I also really like it. I was going to get the Dark but Mr. Snuff had run out. I wasn’t disappointed once I tried the brown. Is it really certain that the Dark has more nic? I just wonder because in the pipe tobacco world darker can mean less nic.

C

I would wager the nic content is higher in Dark. It feels like it.

Lots of things make a tobacco dark. Smoking (Latakia), steam (Cavendish), heat/fire curing (stoved Virginias). As far as strength, yes, as far as traditionally prepared SG and GH Virginia pipe tobacco twists, they’re generally higher in nic when brown as compared to the black twists. The black twists are still pretty stout.

Stout 'n yummy!

Viking Brown has some nasty attitude, it bites my nose!
