Has anyone (probably almost exclusively German/Teutophonic members) read ‘Schnupftabak für Genießer’ by Jörg Pannier? It’s the most interesting and insightful book on snuff I’ve ever read, essential reading for snuff enthusiasts. What’s more: it’s recent (one or two years old at most). If anyone can think of a way to market it (and of course if mr. Pannier agrees) I’d be happy to give a hand with the translation. However, it’s quite a lot of work, so perhaps this could be done as a team effort. Any takers?
I would love to take it on, however it would have to wait one or two months since I’m broke for now. I’ve just ordered the “kleines taschenbuch vom schnupftabak”, because it was only half the price. I do love translating and I’m going to buy that book sooner or later anyway.
@otherwheres : Cool, so far we’re down to 80 pages each. 
If two more people join, this might even become doable! If nobody would take the risk to have it printed, it could always be done as an e-book. However, we’d need the author’s (and the publisher’s, I think) permission to go ahead. I don’t want to make money on this, it would be a volunteer project. (For the greater good of the community etc. etc.) Any other German speakers interested?
I would buy a English translation… Heck I may buy the German version and just skim through it ( parents both spoke German when I was young ) I actually have a large collection of German books on vintage playing cards and some of it I can understand. @Matou…what in C_____T does "TUETOPHONIC mean ?

Yeah that about sums it up, just trying to guess what the five underscores between the C and T stand for, I’d expect no more than two. OK, let’s not go there…
@Matou: I think the author and publisher would surely want to have the last word on anything we’d come up with, but I think the book itself, as far as I can tell from what I’ve heard about it, is very much the ‘not much profit intended’ work of an enthusiast. We should just ask him. He doesn’t happen to haven an account here by chance? If the result of the translation yields any quality I’m pretty sure no author would object to make such a work available to a much broader audience!

as soon as I’ve really started and if there are others working on it as well and more people keep bugging me I can be real focused and productive on such things, so chances are not to bad, provided the author and publisher like the idea and my/our talents prove apt to the task.

It wouldn’t be for lack of enthusiasm, the only bottleneck is the magnitude of the project. That, and inexperience.
Just found some copies on eBay UK. Also, from the same seller, Josef Fendls Literarischer Schnupftabak. I just ordered a copy of each.
Did a bit of translating yesterday, got about two pages done. Will do some more when I have the time, as soon as I have 12 pages (roughly 10% of the payload) I’ll post it for a quick evaluation.

Not yet, want to wait until I have something ‘substantial’, but should be easy enough, he’s all over the web.
