Hi all, I’m shezzuk1 from the UK. What I want to know is are there any snuffs that taste like Van Nelle Zware Dutch tobacco? It’s my absolute favourite baccy and I’d love to get some like tasting snuff. I see De Kralingse Rotterdam make snuff, would any of theirs taste similar?

Their AO 1860 might well fit the bill, and if that one does it will be worth trying Gawith Hoggarth’s Kendal Brown and Bernard’s Gekachelte Virginie.

Gekachelte Virginie is a great snuff. Good price point too.

Shezzuk, have you thought about making snuff from the Van Nelle? BTW, in a way I’m glad Van Nelle isn’t sold in the US. It is very good, and would tempt me to smoke. I can also say that as much as I like some of Bes’ products, I don’t care much for the Ao 1860. But we all have different tastes, and you may want to give it a try…

I suspect the closest you’ll come to the likes of Van Nelle, Drum, etc is a judicious mix of Latakia AO 1860 and Toque Absinthe.

OK thanks, I’m having trouble finding anywhere that has it in stock. I did manage to order some Kendal Brown thanks to the advice of @ermtony . Can I order direct from Molen de Kralingse? If it fits the bill I’ll order a lot of it.

I’ve only been snuffing for two weeks so have a lot to learn. I’m getting some VNZS next week so may try it. I have a herb grinder, is that any good? I can imagine the temptation to start smoking again when there’s Van Nelle on offer. I love the stuff but only smoke maybe 4-5 a day and keep it as a treat for these long days.

Well, got my Latakia AO 1860 and it does indeed taste just like Van Nelle Zware. Bloody lovely and no irritation so I can take huge pinches :). Thanks to all who suggested it! It’s also the only snuff I’ve tried that I feel the nicotine. I guess I have high tolerance after smoking VN for years…
