Using American Snuffs Orally

I have been hearing a lot of talk lately about American Snuff being used both through your nose and mouth. Know I know all about dip and have used it before. The can of dip I tried had long pieces of moist tobacco in it so even though it was loose you could kind of keep it in one place in your mouth. How in the world would you put such a fine powder like Rooster in your mouth? I mean do you let it dissolve away like it was koolaid? When I first got Rooster I put a little on my finger and put it in my mouth, and all I can say is WOW! That is some strong tasting snuff! I couldn’t imagine putting a spoon full in my mouth. So how would you go about using any American Snuff orally?

The traditional method would be to take a twig of mesquite root, dip it in the snuff, and spread it on the gums.

Ok so if we put that through our 2008 Lingo translator we get something like using the stick you get with Fun Dip?

lol, mesquite is a type of brush in the US. Also, mequite is used to make a tasty BBQ charcoal. On occasion, I’ll take a dip of dry snuff. I’m skeert of getting hooked though. I just take a pinch and drop it under the front of my lower lip, then take a few snuffs. Result: nirvana. It just dissolves slowly away.

I will have to try that with Navy Sweet.

It stays fine in the mouth especially if you keep in in the center. Kind of stays there like a mud dam. It does like to pack in between the teeth though. But of course if your constantly sucking on it or doing a lot of talking, it will wash away. dajawu, society is pretty tasty in the mouth as well. along with honey bee & buttercup

Here is something I’ve posted before that you might like to read. It gives some instructions on oral use. Along with a few jokes stuck between the lines.

Wish those 1/2 ounce “nickle” cans were still around. They were up to 12 cents when I started dipping & snuffing. A large can of Garrett would set you back $.23 in the convenience stores. Copenhagen (when you could find it) was between 17 & 29 cents.

Great find, thanks!

a nickel worth of snuff now is about a pinch or two’s worth. The 1/2 oz cans are still around. I’ve seen them in the Garretts snuff range. And I think someone here got omegapd a small can in a snuff trade.

Pity that RJR Conwood & Swisher won’t pull their corporate heads out about nasal snuff. A 1/2 oz. version of the Swisher plastic can would be a natural. Also a shame that Sunny’s is strictly a wholesale distributor.

yeah they have a few hard to find snuffs.

What spangalang said goes for me. I enjoy a dip of tube rose or stoker’s sweet - but I hope I don’t get to like it too much.

I have tried a bit of the Checkerberry in my bottom lip, nice flavor to that one. I do not do it very often, but every now and then appreciate the nicotine boost. Like Sprang said, it does slowly dissolve and if you are not carefull with conciously keeping it in place it will get all over the inside of your mouth.

You would have to buy me a drink first before I would answer that!!! LOL

Although hilarious it is a good question. With dip you obviously spit it out, but what about American nasal snuff used orally? Spit or Swallow?

Its basically your choice. You could either spit it or gut it. There are some dips & loose leafs that I don’t need to spit all the time. If it doesn’t bother you like upsetting the stomach or burning the throat to gut it then gut it, otherwise if it makes you uncomfortable then spit as needed. The dry snuffs don’t create the juices that some of your dip or loose leaf will make. I really don’t feel the need to spit with these snuffs as there is no tobacco juices building up in the mouth.
