I’ve been advised by an ear, nose and throat specialist to rinse my nose every day. For the past week I’ve done so by using my neti pot. Now, this might only be my imagination, but all my snuffs taste/smell so much fresher. I took a pinch of F&T HDT an hour ago and it tasted so good, it was like the very first time I’ve tried it. I’ve been sniffing Spanish Gem almost all day long and it’s so tasty, could hardly put it down. Any one else had this experience?
I do get the same impression, although I hardly use it more than 3 times a week. It´s really a recommended device.
Yeah . use mine everyday even when iam out for the weekend or something , i carry it with me .
i actually just use one of those blue squeeze bulbs they make for kids. i find it’s less expensive and gets more junk out.
Yeah, I love mine. I want to use it every day, but some days I get lazy.
I got the same experience, Pieter. I’ve run out of salt so I’ve not used mine in a couple of weeks. Snuffing is better when you Neti. I tried plain water and that’s just plain horrible.
I used mine yesterday. I think I wanna take a week off from snuff and use the neti every day, just to give my nose a break, and a daily rinse.
@wickedkitchen, I use ordinary table salt and bicarbonate of soda, one teaspoon of each on a litre of luke warm water. This “recipe” was given to me by an ear, nose and throat specialist many years ago. So it’s safe to use and works even better than the stuff I received with my neti pot. I mix 2 litres at a time and leave it in my bathroom to make sure I use it every day. I rinse my nose up to 4 times a day when I have a cold. Otherwise, everytime I brush my teeth. @tom502, I’m pretty sure that will help you a lot. It’s amazing what comes out of your nose once you seriously start rinsing it regularly. My son had sinus problems for years. I bought him a neti pot and asked his doctor to tell him to start using it. Within a week he could breath through his nose again and, of course, he is a converted neti man now.
@ wickedkitchen: my neti instructions told me to use kosher salt if I run out of their salt. It says to use two spoons instead of one since kosher salt is course.
Right, you want non-iodized salt. The purer the better.
Whew… oh man, that’s weird. I thought I’d try the neti pot with some some warm water, and not add the salt packet. Not good. I don’t know why, but it hurt my throat and now I am congested and I wasn’t before… You’d think it’s just be some soothing water, but this was not good.
@ Tom502 - Yeah, I had the same exp. You definitely need salt. I don’t have an kosher salt handy (or any non-iodized salt for that matter) 'cos I keep forgetting it when I go shopping. I prefer to cook with this type of salt too. I’ve just had so much on my mind lately that it keeps me forgetting the little things. I’m going to try Pieter’s method today. My nose has been very clear lately though so I haven’t really been wanting for my Neti anyhow. Alas, it’s good to be clean.
