Maybe this has been covered but I’ve searched and searched and haven’t found quite wha im looking for.
Does anyone here have knowledge or experience in importing snuff from Europe and selling them in the US?
Is this even possible? If so, what are the rules? Licensing, fees/taxes etc.
I live in North Carolina where we have an abundance of dry snuffs, moist chew, snuss etc. but there are zero moist nasal snuffs (I don’t even think our dry snuffs are marketed for nasal consumption but rather some form of oral snuff taking that I’m not familiar with.)
If anyone can shed some like it would be appreciated!!
Illegal. Federal legislation requires that all tobacco products placed on the retail market in the US must be approved by the FDA, or be grandfathered in as a product marketed prior to those regulations going into effect (the regulations became law in the past decade or so). There are no nasal snuffs produced overseas that have that authorization. The FDA demands all kinds of lab tests etc. to approve a product, and thus the cost to gain product approval is extremely high, and is per each retail SKU (not a class of products). Each state has its own retail tobacco licensing rules as well, of course, for selling approved products.
This is exactly what i was wondering. I had a feeling the government had done a pretty efficient job of keeping it off shelves and that there must be some broad legislation doing so.
WHAT A BUMMER! and what a shame. As a nation with such rich tobacco history its amazing to me how demonized its become. Free country my a$$!
Amazing how widespread vape use has become, seems so much more dangerous and unnatural.
