OK, so I posted earlier about my new order into the world of snuff. My how tastes change. Im loving, I mean LOVING all my new snuffs, Hell, I cant keep my nose out of all the tins, sometimes im pinching 3 times out of one then 2 or 3 out of another in 10 mins , lol. However a few questions… 1. I have the sniffing down, it doesnt hit my throat HOWEVER, I still get a sinus run that when i spit has tobacco powder in it. Is this normal? 2. My urge to sneeze has just turned into a nasal run into my throat, is this part of the transition? Im loving everything, seems the menthol is going to be an every now and then snuff such as rainy days and late nights or just as a refrsher. Funny thing though is everytime I blow my nose im like. hey look at the tobacco butterfly, lol.
Oh and I realize the 2 questions are very similar so its ok to treat it as 1 question.
- Good! So do I, but its not as bad as it once was. I think its from either taking too much, not blowing enough, or learning not to snuffle instinctively. Old timers will have a better answer for you. 2) I think so, but I will often sneeze many minutes after taking the snuff, but most of the time not at all. It depends on which snuff. I don’t worrry about sneezing. I agree with your new conclusion re: menthol. I also see buterflies. Sniff some Dholakia Black, then use a white handkerchief, you’ll love that butterfly! I treated it as two questions. Sorry.
For the first one I think its because im just gorging out on snuff at the moment. The scents I grabbed are all spectacular except for the Wilsons Tangerine. My only mistake is realizing that FOR ME menthol is a more winter themed snuff, I live in the Deep south of the USA and with the humidity and very hot blistering sumers menthol just doesnt hit the spot. Now the others, Lemon Grove, Spanish Gem and Apricot are just unbelievable. NOTE: Onwe thing I find quie cool is that it seems Snuff is best enjoyed on the porch or anywhere outside to unleash the full aromas. I wonder why this is. If im indoors the scent is still there but very subtle, but when walking the dog or sitting with friends when they take a smoke break the scent/flavor just opens your whole nose to a very nice experience that is 100% pure snuff. Thanks to Toque and Wilsons, ill defiantely be getting mroe exercise outside, lol
Come up North in the winter and try the same thing in cold air. Its awesome! The snuff you sniffed inside a half hour ago, comes back and kisses you again! I always snuff a little while before taking out the garbage on a frosty night. Then again, I’m snuffing almost all the time, so I guess it doesn’t matter.
I believe the better smell outdoors has to do with the humidity. I have a good snuff every morning right before I jump in the shower, and once the steam hits your nose HELLO TRAIN TO FLAVO(U)R COUNTRY!

You’ve got back into snuff with a vengence, as you say, so I think its pretty natural and you’re right - its all linked. The urge to sneeze goes pretty quickly when you take snuff regularly, also bigger pinches, oddly enough, create less of a sneeze - this is fairly well recognised. With the larger amounts going into your sinus system you are getting some of that mixed in with the secretions. I also suspect that where as a novice you may have sneezed and blown you might have got into the thing of just giving a big old snort to deal with that secretion. Other variables are the types of snuff used, how often and how much. If I take a a good old pinch of a dry snuff like HDT and maybe only do that once an hour, I would get next to no sinal run and probably not blow more than two or three times a day. If I use a moister snuff more regularly there will be more blowing and more running. The daddy for creating a need for both is menthol. It will also cause a blocked nose for a lot of people. Hope that helps.
