I prefer pinching my snuff - I’ve tried the boxcar method, anatomical snuffbox, and a little spoon I have, but pinching is the way for me. A few weeks ago I cut the tip of my thumb, not deeply, but enough to make things a bit painful when pinching, and the day after took a nick right out of it when trying to fit a lid to a waterbutt I’ve just put in my garden, so using my thumb was definitely a no-no for a few days. Left handed pinching would just’ve been clumsy, and I couldn’t do without my snuff, so I tried using my index and middle finger and found it works really well - regular grind snuffs go up a treat, and I can control the flow of fine snuffs better than I ever used to. Even though my thumb is fine now, I often use this method, and always for fine snuffs such as toasts or American scotches.
index and middle finger? Thanks for the tip! But it is not so easy, my middle finger is a bit more inactive then the tumb. Will that finger get used to more activity?
Ha. Around here ( central NC, USA ) when you have a can of Copenhagen and get a good full pinch to place in your jaw it is referred to as a " two finger dip".
The two finger salute & the two finger pinch - how British!!!
Don’t try to combine the two (assuming you mean the ‘vee finger’ salute) cos you’ll drop the snuff! Now my thumb is better I do use the standard pinch again, but the two fingers seem to work better for some snuffs, something to do with weight vs airflow maybe, I don’t know…
Oh yeah I got a pretty bad cut on my finger, felt like it was added nicotine directly to the bloodstream. Just used my left hand as I have practiced, for, no real reason other than it is just necessary at times to have an alternative method to sniff tobacco.
