Twist?

I doubt that tobacco that was not at least color cured would be used as the only source of fresh green leaf would be at the farm and difficult to ship without spoiling. The sweating and fermenting cure would be what takes place in a twist environment.

I assumed that at least back then, if not still, the tobacco was either processed by the farmers, or simply harvested and delivered to the processors very quickly, I know it will last at least a few days before changing much.  I grew some way back when.
