The realisation struck me today that i am indeed turning to the dark side, i don’t know how or when it happened but my desk is littered with Kendal Browns, Best Dark, Santa Domingo, Princes, Princes Special and of course Berwick Brown. Does anyone else dare admit a passion for dark coarse snuff or it something best kept betwixt a man and his tobacconist.
Darker the better IMO,My other snuffs are untouched since discovering Taxi and NTSU.
The point struck home recently when i received a Toque order with a bag of N.Rustica leaves as i had requested. I opened the bag and sniffed out of curiosity and was met with a sweet earthy aroma that was truly magnificent. There is something very pleasing about snuff that while scented still allows the tobacco to share some of its natural qualities something which is perhaps more readily apparent with coarse darker snuffs.
I fully agree.I find the darker and coarse snuff, satisfies more, like a good meal. With the finer and lighter snuff,I find myself snuffing more often.
I find the coarse, dark snuffs have a longer, but less immediate nicotine release. With lighter, finer snuffs, the hit is immediate but results in chain snuffing as you’re always chasing the initial nicotine fix. I like both, although I always choose a dark coarse snuff on Sunday morning with a strong cup of coffee, and perhaps a good los snus such as Montecristo.
The course snuffs (and fine ones for that matter) are often the second great discovery, after that of snuff itself, of a snuffer who’s been using mild, middle of the road snuffs up to that point. They are the other dimension in snuffing, not neccessarily a graduation, but certainly the opening up of the palate to the full spectrum of flavour. Its great to see Toque not using that same old flour with yet another flavouring added - no mistake, they are all wonderful - but it was definitley time to see different grinds emerging.
Damn, and I opened this thread thinking it was about jungle fever.
eh?
Jungle fever is a term used for an interracial relationship. I think BB1 was being silly by replying “Nice!”
Ah right!
I agree, I would love to see/try different Toque grinds! ;-} I think that’s a awesome idea, Rodrick *¤* something to think that’s about *¤*
I will look forward to some dark Toques.
Didn’t want to start a new post. Loving Dholakia Black right now. With Mr. Snuff and Nicotine Rush selling the new-to-me schmalzlers, I’m sorry to say the old saying “you get what you pay for” stands even for the quartet of Poschl’s. It’s kinda like, if I don’t wanna waste Bernards for this jonesing. Anyone else feel this way?
@squarefind…Not me. I think the Poschl schmalzlers are great so far. Schmalzler “A” and Doppelaroma are the two that I got. The big bags inspire gluttony. However I would still never consider a sniff of bernards a waste.
Grant’s of Ireland used to manufacture a biscuit coloured toast that was coarse and in taste was that of almonds. However, coarse snuffs are generally dark. I mostly use dark coarse snuff since, as a heavy user, it doesn’t congest me as much as finer types. It also makes the more occasional use of finer snuffs much more of an olfactory delight.
Juxtaposer, I’m sorry I was misunderstood, what I meant was Poschls are special and Bernards are super-special. On another note, is the Moeda Rappe’ considered dark?
I have to agree. There’s nothing like a nose full of the course ground plain tobaccos.
Yes, I was teasing you that you could be misconstrued. Thanks
@squarefiend, the Moeda Rape which I’ve got is demi gros but not dark. In fact, it is yellowish and dry
I like all colors of snuff and woman (that’s for you satyr)
