Of all the sweet scotch snuffs I have had, Tube Rose is the least sweet. For me, that means its the best one and one can take repeated pinches of it without it getting cloying. This is the first sweet scotch I have encountered that I would consider keeping in the permanent collection. Since getting it, I have learned a bit about the tube rose flower. It seems it is a flower used in perfumery. This snuff is not a floral snuff, but it does have a light floral scent in it which is especially noticeable if one steps into fresh air. Its a shame that American snuff evolved towards oral tastes, as if this were more floral and less sweet, it could be amazingly good. As it stands its a mild sweet snuff, the sweetness may have a touch of agave nectar (which is the tube rose’s family). I would recommend this to one who enjoys scotch snuffs, but generally finds the sweet ones too sweet Note: least sweet of all sweet scotches Rating: 3/5 First tried: March 2009 Style: sweet scotch Grind: fin Moisture: dry
A definite smell of sweetness that’s subtle, but also rich and deep, compared to W.E. Garrett’s Sweet which is more powdery. Well, this is like what I’d imagine sniffing cocoa powder would be like, The smokeyness is just not there to start with for me, it comes in after a few seconds. And with it all the flavor. It’s just a regular sweet and mellow twang. A little bit like cow dung and mud haha. But also a clean lennen or maybe better to call it a sweet loam, and on and on with smokey - muddy goodness. I like this one alot.
I thought that I would throw this out there… I bought this snuff last night after checking reviews from sites. I have to admit that words like “Floral” scare me. This is a dry, fine ground snuff and is already becoming my favorite and this is why. It totally reminds me of Earl Grey tea which I am very fond of and has a nice sweetness that compliments the scent. A completely different experience from other snuffs that I have tried I would suggest this to anyone who is into relaxing
