I had Dragun Menthol and FireDrac and like them especially the FireDrac cherry and spice scent but it does have maybe a bit more heat than I would ideally like as I’ve discussed before so I was hoping to be impressed by these other Abraxas which I received today. Today I received Dragun, Premium Batch Course and Cerise. The Dragun seems to be basic almond and the other two have very little scent at all. Semolina comes to mind or farley rusk baby biscuits and an actual scent of sick off the Cerise. I’m just really surprised at how tame or lame they seem to be after reading the rave reviews on snuff reviews. Has anyone else had a similar experience with these?

My cerise and premium seem to be getting better with age. I also get a big scent increase when they have been in a snuff box in my pocket. Even that little bit of heat really brings alot out of them.

Thanks @distaind. I hope that will be the case with mine also. My nose today seems to be a bit blocked or sense dulled so maybe that has something to do with it? I’ll try again tomorrow.

You hated F&T Morlaix originally & now you are giving it second goes. First impressions of a snuff can go either way - but hopefully you have now learnt that your snuff taste can change over time.

I second @lunecat… Tastes change… I am enjoying the hell outta Spanish gem last 2 days and couldn’t stand it, months back when I received it… I can give other examples of snuffs, but you get the point.

OT but has anyone else noticed with Pollen season, even my favorites seem to be off lately. I’ve never had an allergy problem but when it’s coating your windshield it has to be doing something to you sinuses. Maybe give it a little time to pass.

I don’t have any Cafe 11. Was out of stock for the small one I had ordered but good to know @fbones24 it has a bit more kick than these but I do think now that these are intended to be gentle luxury desert type snuffs. I did warm the snuffs in bullets in my pockets so it’s not that. I did have a sort of migrane early yesterday and was sneezing later on so weather and pollen could be factors perhaps. But I feel ticketyboo this morning and first thing with clear nose I tried the Premium Batch while still in bed with no noise etc to concentrate and following I did the same with the Cerise. I still get the same effects but I do like them a little bit more now that I think I have a better understanding and I do get slightly what some of the reviews spoke about when they described expensive cakes, but I also get Tapioca from school dinner memories and there seems to be some kind of rotting fermented fruit in there especially with the Cerise, seemed like apple and rasberry but it’s all very faint and subtle maybe a mirage? I get the Dragun base flavour in them also. These are unusual snuffs for me as I have nothing else like them hence my initial confusion which does happen often to me as there are so many snuffs which I am trying for the first time. These do make ordinary everyday snuff seem almost brutal and yet this is what snuff is all about I think. These new experiences and wide variation. I am glad to have these to sample occasionally. I haven’t taken fully to them immediately. I do think there will be occasions when they could be just the thing such as maybe after a fine desert or in place of one. It’s good to have another option in the arsenal. Am I initially impressed? No not really. Will I come to like them more? I think I will. I do like how they linger in the nose. That’s quite pleasant but I think a space needs to be cleared in the day for using these so that other snuffs don’t interfere with their delicate delicacy. Do I prefer them to Morlaix? Well I think you know the answer to that one. Between these and my 25g £3 tin of toast? The toast, any day.

It’s funny that you make these comments I_snuff_therefore___ I have to admit that I had a similar experience and was slightly underwhelmed when I go Cerise and Premium Batch initially: Cafe 11 was such a banger that I was a bit disappointed with these two to start with. Oddly though they have both really grown on me over the intervening months, I particularly like the liquor/port type scent to Premium Batch, that one has become a firm favourite of mine. I think that distaind also makes a good point about snuff maturing and developing with time. I also found that both these blends seem to ‘open up’ a bit and become more vibrant once they’ve been in one of my snuff boxes for the day, as others comment above.

With FOJ or LF bullets work really well. In fact bullets are absolutley fine. This morning I took several pinches of each. Warming them up first. I guess I just don’t really like these PB & Cerise snuffs and think they are overrated and at least I have the balls to be honest and think for myself.

You’re the only one who can decide which snuffs are for you and which aren’t. I’m quite fond of Abraxas and SWS, but there are a whole range of other snuffs I like too. Try as many as you can afford and narrow it down from there. If I’m reading you correctly @I_snuff_therefore___, those two millers may not be your cup of tea. Please feel free to send them to me as soon as possible.

No, I like SWS very much, possibly even love, definitely something special about those and would love to order more. I also like Dragun Menthol and FireDrac. Not fussed on Dragun.

i cant possibly get my head round your reactions to abraxas haha… i have to say, my 5 desert island snuffs are firedrac, mcc O&G/hedges, WoS grand cairo, GH sea breezes, and im undecided on F&T bordeux or gletscher prise. a close second to this list are cafe11 and premium batch fin, purely because they arent all day for me. maybe one pinch of either every few days/week, but absolutely delicious.

@Firestarter0 you consider firedrac an all day snuff - wow! I keep hearing mention of the Sea Breezes too … I think that’ll be finding it’s way into my shopping cart at some point As for bullets - I started with them, and would still use them for the occasional menthol (can’t take big pinches of that anyway), but would agree they’re no good for regular consumption. That all depends what size pinches you prefer though, and the optimum pinch size will vary from snuff to snuff as well as person to person. Otherwise, I’d agree stick to what works for you. I buck the trend too by steering clear of the fine dry stuff. I know what I like and see no reason to buy stuff that doesn’t work for me to keep other people happy I don’t think there’s any snuff that’s liked by everybody

Next for my scrutiny will be Mull of Oa. Just ordered, and Sea Breezes coincedentaly amongst others. Hurray I hear you shout! Man I hope (no pray) it’s going to be nice. Can’t wait to get it in a bullet. Yeaaaa. (bad joke)

One thing about bullets (I normally do pinch) is the snuff can air and dries even more although these are not really moist to begin with. I will be trying them more. Have you got any good blend ideas for them. I discovered that I really like how well the cherry in FireDrac seems to work so I’ve odered some SG Cherry which I might try with the Dragun and maybe also these PB and Cerise. I don’t get a lot of cherry from the Cerise currently but maybe it’s not aired enough yet.

Why don’t you try taking a REAL pinch. If you think a bullets gives you a good dose then you don’t even know what a normal sized pinch is let alone a big one, I know this for a fact because if you took normal sized pinches your bullets would be in the garbage where they belong. The doses your taking are waaaaaaaaaaaay too small that’s why your not getting enough flavour and that’s why you erroneously believe bullets work good.

Calm down, I heard you the first time and the 2nd time. I like using bullets so deal with it. So what are you saying? I have to take loads more than every other snuff I use quite happily to get something from these? Ok, got your point.

Yeah a bullet is a bad idea, especially for a moist snuff like Abraxas. You need to warm them in your fingertips. A spoon can for ok so long as its been fluffed up properly, as they’re packed so tightly.

Id like to agree with you, i would, i feel n9 is being a little rude here. but really- bullets are terrible, though i still keep one or two for being discreet. i have to use multiple doses now… and now im using larger doses of most snuffs, im finding ones i didnt think much of before are giving me great flavour now. maybe give larger doses a try? if not, then abraxas may just be one to save and try occasionally, or trade/give away. cant say i wouldnt be interested in trying cerise (only one i havent yet), but i use the premium and cafe11 occasionally, and the firedrac often.

It seems like I am in the opposite camp. The Abraxas snuffs I have tried have all been wonderful to me. On the other hand, I was unimpressed with all the SWS snuffs I have tried. I think that the whole thing is quite subjective and we like what we like.

I find all the ABRAXAS snuffs I have are best warmed, @xander ( fluffed ) and in a spoon… Dragun is same pinched or in a spoon I never used a bullet for snuff … So can’t comment

I’m in full agreement with Lunecat’s first post. At first I liked the Abraxas. I think it was the raves creating a psychosomatic effect. I stayed away and went back to them. In the mornings with a totally clear and clean nose. Cerise has a quickly fading aroma. The others just burn. will use them up by mixing with Hedges. And I have tried warming them

Ok 9nails has turned the thread into a bullets thread. Here above in my inital response to 9nails I seem to clearly state I took several pinches but I suppose it wasn’t absolutely clear that it was PB and Cerise I pinched as I referred -as an example- to having used bullets before for FOJ and LF but since PB and Cerise are the theme of the thread and it’s not really possible to pinch from a bullet, I thought it could be inferred that it was PB and Cersie that I had pinched and besides I refer to them again immediatly in the next sentence, so 9nails ignores this and goes on raving about bullets and cocaine some more and everybody joins in? Why are they not called cocaine bullets instead of SNUFF BULLETS and sold by Snuff Co.s. Just to try and be absolutely clear. I have some PB and Cerise in bullets and I find it to have the same effect or possible even better as when I pinched PB and Cerise several times this morning first thing, with a clear clean nose, straight from the original jars after warming the snuff in my finger/thumb so 9nails repeated posting to take a real pinch is non-sensical. True when using the bullet I need to do it several times (I’ve just done half a bullet) to get enough of this particular snuff but this isn’t a major problem for me. My regular snuffs are all pinched from tins.

Seriously as I’ve explained painfully above I did pinch straight from the jars as well as use bullets. Why do you not understand this? I do feel a bit sad about some of the posters in the “we’re all”. Is that your gang?

… thus endeth the bullet discussion … n9er, I_snuff’s pinched, and it’s not to the liking. i get it. as far as the question “why don’t they call them cocaine bullets” … well, the history of it is, that is what they were used for, initially, if i am not mistaken. look at all the “snuff kits” - they resemble a nice little coke set up with mirrors and all. they do need to be tweaked a bit for “bigger” sniffs if non-toast … at least, the ones i own are only good for the toasts and fine snuffs. i’d go with the “set the snuffs aside and revisit” option … scents change, one’s nose changes, etc. if it doesn’t sit well with you, set em up on the trading forum. cheers.
