Hi please excuse my ignorance, being new to the world of snuff I have a question about toque. I’m placing what was a small order but now Massive as I got carried away haha but what grind is all the toffee and spanish gem etc are they all different grinds ? Or is their a base grind for all ? As I don’t want anything to fine …well not yet anyway as I need to get my technique right first, I hear bigger pinches are. Better ?
There’s a base grind for most of their snuffs which is medium - fine, with the toasts being much finer, and Berwick Brown being much coarser.
Ah thanks spam I have a lot to learn which is exciting as well !
If you go to snuffreviews.com and look under toque it will have the grind and dryness under each kind
Ah great that’s a fantastic site thank you brandasaur
Toque was my first snuff order and I learned from Toque snuffs. You should be fine as long as you don’t order toasts. Also I feel like Quit and SP Extra are both a little finer than the usual Toque base.
I agree, but the Toasts are not always apparant by name. They include Bourbon, Whisky & Honey, Cheese & Bacon, Toast & Marmalade, Lime Toast, Natural Toast. All of the other Toques are medium-fine except Berwick Brown, which is medium coarse. These should all be reasonably beginner friendly.
I would still order Toque toasts though. Ok they do take a while to master for a newbie, but IMO Toque’s best snuffs are the toasts. W&H, and Lime Toast are exquisite. Stefan
I did not know that Cheese and Bacon was a toast. I never took much of an interest in it.
last snuff on my to try list.
Eh. I know it’s supposed to be good, but I like bacon even less than I like bleu cheese.
No, its supposed not to be good, as per its maker’s design. I think it achieves this. The weird thing is that some people actually like it.
It is the perfect snuff for breakfast! Breakfast is about the only time ive used that snuff.
Where’s Toffeenose these days? She loves Cheese & Bacon and I’m surprised she hasn’t weighed in. Anybody seen her lately?
No. But she does drop in and out as standard.
I enjoy it for breakfast too. -Kidnapper
It sounds so strange but it goes well with cheese & bacon
It just confuses me. One day I like it and the next I think, ‘I must have been mad to have created this monster!’ It’s far worse than Marmite. At least with Marmite you either love it or you hate it. What’s weird about Cheese and Bacon is, it’s one of those strange creatures, you like it one day and not the next. An anomaly unto itself. Edited
I found some Marmite locally, and had to try it. I think I would like it if it were not so damn salty.
I may have to get some c&b on my next order, to remind myself of how horrifying it is! In a good way.
Roderick could always turn it into a seasonal snuff for Halloween.
Mmmmm… Marmite!
Marmite snuff?
I’d buy marmite snuff, you either love it or hate it !
I neither loved nor hated it.
I’d also buy a Marmite snuff. I could happily wallow in the stuff. Stefan
I tried a pinch of C&B when it was 35+ Celsius and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever done. The snuff itself was good but mixed with the heat it just did not work at all.
I liked it, but the scent went on and on. All that blu cheese was a bit overpowering!
Marmite on toast ! ?
I found Marmite in Ft. Collins CO and have since consumed three tubs of the stuff. Every time my 2 year old daughter comes home, she asks for some! Back on topic, Marmite snuff would be awesome.
Their must be a way !
Roderick, get to it!
I can make such a snuff however, “Marmite” and “Vegemite” are trade marks and a new name would be needed. Any ideas?
Yeasty Beastie
& Vegbite.
If it was smokeable, “Tarmite” wouldn´t be too stupid. Roderick sent me a tub of Marmite once, so I was able to try this oddity once. My dad loved it.
Megamite
Yucky snuff that’s what Id name it.
what about B.Y.E. short for best yeast extract or that famous yellow top spread
Toque Love/Hate?
Marmite is a wonderful idea… And I like the ‘Yeasty Beastie’ suggestion quite a lot, @Xander.
Yup, now that I think about it, I quite like “Yeasty Beastie”. Then again it could be the wonderful Cognac I’ve been sipping this evening.
rather have a cognac snuff then marmite. Much rather. In fact I would be willing to maim someone to prove my point. Just name who doesn’t need knee caps and if you promise cognac before marmite, they’ll end up kneecapless.
Bob, I take it you fall into the “I hate Marmite” camp.
@toque The word marmite can’t be a trade mark as it is a French word for a type of cooking pot. the one there is a picture of on the label. Anyway how about THE GREAT DIVIDE for the name.
Yeast makes things ferment so makes air …maybe snuffair ! Lol ok I tried
Stand firmly in the hate Marmite camp. There was no falling involved.
Though just in case I didn’t say so before Cognac is my second favorite alcholic beverage. Nothing beats Absinthe though.
Roderick, once again you and I see eye to eye. However, I’ve not yet made up my mind on this stuff, having only had it about a week now. It is a beast though; but a donkey is a beast and so is a bear. One will work for you. One wants to maim you. I do like congnac though. Its been awhile since I could afford it.
I’d like a Nutella snuff. mmm Nutella…
I second the Nutella. Actually come to think of it I made a snuff out of some montecristo/cohiba mix and added vanilla and cocoa and it smelled like nutella. Definetly my best creation.
I could definitely do a cognac snuff, or nutella, though cognac in preference I think. Is there a port based snuff already?
I would like to see a mead Toque snuff. I think the sweet honey wine flavor would transfer well.
Call the yeast extract snuff “M Blend”
call it “infection”
@transistor what you mean, “Thrush Snuff”? Stefan
lol
