Thanks to forum member BrianC via Roderick from Toque Tobacco I was lucky enough to recieve a generous sample of Toque’s yet to be released Toffee flavored snuff. Here is a quick review after having taken 5 snuffs of this product. The Pinch - Upon taking a pinch of this snuff I immediately feel some small hard clumps, which easilly break apart after rolling my fingers together over the snuff. Not a problem what-so-ever for pinchers but could be a problem when utilizing the traditional Toque snuff bullet. The Sniff - Like the other Toque products this snuff is pretty fine and care needs to be taken as to not sniff to hard to avoid having the snuff hit your throat. The Flavor - Hmmmm a very hard to describe flavor here. It is sweet like you would think toffee to be, but it also is quite a spicy aroma. I myself have never known Toffee to be spicy. If this product was not named Toffee but rather just Mystery flavor, I would imagine people initially would have many different impressions on what the exact flavor of this snuff is. But then it hits you after about 3-5 minutes. The spicy aroma fades and bam there is no doubt the scent is sweet Englich Toffee. Final Impressions - This is one fun snuff, it is not often when it comes to snuff you get 2 distinct and noticeable experiences from one sniff. In my opinion, Don’t change a thing with this snuff Roderick, and for the good of us snuffers get this product out on the market as soon as possible, it is a great snuff I am sure many will enjoy. Thanks again very much BrianC for helping me get a try of this great snuff, and of course you too Roderick for creating another fine snuff variety.
OK after spending the whole night sniffing nothing but the Toque Toffee I think I finally can tell what the initial strong spicy aroma is. At first I was thinking Rose, but after a while it seemed to come clear to me that the initial smell is very similar to Wilsons of Sharrows - Strasbourg it still settles into a sweet toffee aroma but the strong initial scent seems like Strasbourg to me. Now BrianC did send this sample to me in a smashbox which may or may not at one time been home to WOS Strasbourg or Rose. And the smell may be a lingering effect, I don’t know, Brian could probably shed more light on this possibility. Still enjoy the snuff though and would purchase it if ever released…
Well Brian, that answers it well… I smell something similar to Strasbourg which is described as a citron spice flavor. That would seem to give it that spicy aroma which later fades into a sweete toffee like scent. A very complex snuff indeed. Thanks again very much for the sample…
The spicy notes you picked up is probably what I picked up as watery spiced rum or rum soaked dried fruit & diluted whisky mix???
Couldn’t say for sure Trout, four some reason I keep thinking of that damn Strasbourg I havn’t used for probably 6 months. I’m gonna give my nose a nice neti pot cleansing, then sleep on it and in the morning I’m gonna crack open that tin of Strasbourg to see if I’m crazy or not, lol…
Does anyone here wish to swap a small amount of Toque Toffee for something? My snuff collection can be seen here! I know I don’t have many, but if any of them take your fancy then do let me know…
I recently got a generous sample from Roderick, with my recent order. I really like the Toffee, like others have said, it is quite complex, having evolving flavors, and being very tasty and smooth, it is immediately one of my favorites. Way to go Roderick!
dear Roderick, can i have your free samples?
So, when is this going to be released for sale? Want to place an order but will wait a bit if it is coming out for public sales soon. I love this snuff.
I just got my Toque Toffee yesterday and eagerly crammed it up my nose to see what all the fuss is about. It is a great and tasty product althought you might want to read Poo-Diddy’s review carefully before you ingest it. “The Sniff - Like the other Toque products this snuff is pretty fine and care needs to be taken as to not sniff too hard to avoid having the snuff hit your throat.” Having been on a recent Poschl binge I was used to taking a somewhat hardy sniff and got caught off guard by the fineness of the Toque texture. This was my first experience with a Toque snuff and the first shot went right down my throat and into my lungs. Just a caveat to those who haven’t sniffed this yet. Go easy on the intake. Sniff gently and enjoy, it really is a tasty blend.
The toffee is the first toque I ever tried about a month ago. I liked it so well that I used the first 10g tin in a week or so. The scent makes me feel mellow. I think it is the most relaxing snuff around.
The first time I took Toque Toffee it didn’t appeal to me at all, but it’s a grower after persevering with the mutha. I have different reactions to it. Now this is a really old thread, as some posts say it hadn’t even been properly released for sale at the time!
thanks for reminding me that I need to get some of this snuff some time soon.
@Sloth: I just want to know what trick you are using to find these old threads!
No kidding.
@Xander - The ‘trick’ I use to find these old threads combines magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship! But most importantly, Google! Old Snuffhouse threads sometimes appear in the first few things on a google search, and often they don’t seem to come up using the Snuffhouse search.
All hail Google! It’s a wonderful resource. Toque Toffee is subtle. One has to snuff it a while before it reveals its secrets. GH Spartan is much the same. Both would make very good all-day snuffs, if one were limited to a single product for the day.
Thanks, Sloth. I had noticed that in Google. I thought you had found a way to make our own search engine work.
In case it helps anyone, you can restrict your google search to snuffhouse using the site:<site.com> syntax.
Examples:
toffee site:snuffhouse.org
rustica site:snuffhouse.org
neti pot site:snuffhouse.org
home grown site:snuffhouse.org
To keep on topic, I think Toque Toffee is too sweet. But I think most anything sweet is too sweet. I just like a more salty/savory snuff.
The search restriction is almost as good as making our own search engine work. Happy searching!</site.com>
Pretty sad that we have to use google to search this site. Maybe it is time to put a google toolbar on here.
