Toque SP Extra

I just received a 10g tin of Toque SP Extra a few days ago in a large order I placed with Nicotine Rush. I must say that I will now never be without this snuff. The bergemot/citrus flavor is outstanding and when it fades about 10 minutes after snuffing, the Toque tobacco base comes through very nicely. I had a few pinches of this with my Earl Grey yesterday and thought I was in heaven for a few minutes. For added kick, try mixing 50/50 with Toque Quit - WOW! Thank you for crafting a great snuff Roderick! Other than Toque Original, this is my first SP. Does anyone recommend a SP that they think tops the Toque variety?

I just got the SP Extra myself. I really get ‘earl grey’ from SP Extra, as opposed to just bergamot scented tobacco. I like it. It’s like Toque Original, but the scent is way way stronger. But my favorite SP type is WoS Gold Label. It’s still got a bergamot lead, with a nice doughy scent in the middle. But what’s different is the Virginia tobacco base (which slightly more coursely ground than the Toque or Best SP) + a finishing hint of lavender. It adds just enough to a ‘basic’ SP to make it better, IMHO.

IMHO, Toque raises the bar for what can be expected from an SP. My second favourite is J&H Wilson’s Top Mill No.1, which is a very mild version of SP, with some really nice Tobacco-ey undertones. It’s sort of like music to me. Sometimes you like it at full blast, but it can also be very enjoyable just playing quietly in the background.

@Detox: Nobody knows what an SP is. After you do enough of it you recognize one when you snuff it. I like WOS Gold Label which to me is almost an SP, but Wilson’s classifies it as one.

No one else seems to mention it, but I find Toque SP Extra to have a lovely lavender kick with the bergamot, as you also find with Wilsons Tom Buck/ Queens Extra Strong. I find all three to be equally excellent and couldn’t be without them.

I have not had SP Extra yet, I’m sad to say, but I have a lot of SPs here and…well…a father can’t pick a favorite child can he? Ok, well I’ll recommend:Wilson’s: SS, Gold Label, Grand Cairo, SP 100. Samuel Gawith: Yellow Crest, Blue Crest J&H Wilson: SP No1 G. Smith: Spanish (if you can get it) And the most divine, sublime masterpiece of snuff technology, forging the union between SPs and Florals is Wilson of Sharrow Strasbourg.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I almost have a full shopping cart at Nicotine Rush of just SP snuffs!

Out of all the sps I have (grand Cairo , gold label, queens extra strong ,toque sp extra, ),I love sp extra the most and have not looked at the wilsons since . The toque seems more subtle, citrusy, and easy going plus I think the tobacco is smoother and tastier. But that’s just my opinion. I didn’t even want to buy another sp but I bought a 1 gram bullet of it and liked it so much I bought the big can .

I really love the toque SP extra. But, J&H Wilson’s SP no. 1 in the vacuum sealed large tin is my all time favorite SP. I think a lot of that may be due to how fresh the snuff stays in that canister. Another snuffer posted that he had just gotten some Toque Sp in bulk and that it was also phenomenally fresh. Perhaps I’ll get around to ordering some in bulk to see if I can detect a difference.

As I understand it, SP means spanish. Apparently it has to do with a traditional spanish recipe. I forgot where online I read that. Let me take a look.

Fredrick tranters grand cairo is my new fav SP (courtesy of Ermtony). The SP extra is really unlike any other SP out there. It has a really “Spicy” SP scent that I enjoy. It took me a few weeks to warm up to it, but after I started liking it I carry it with me every day.

My favourite is easily Wilsons Best SP, but I also really like Smith’s Spanish and Samuel Gawith’s SP No1 High Mill and Yellow Crest. I haven’t tried Toque’s SP Extra yet but I didn’t really care for the Original much.

Ah! Another lover of Smith’s Spanish! Its similar to Grand Cairo, don’t you think?

It was love at first pinch with Smith’s Spanish but I must admit I haven’t had a tin for over a year now - it’s pretty damned expensive ! It reminded me more of a plainer version of Yellow Crest than Grand Cairo to be honest.

I love WoS Grand Cairo but it makes my nose run like mad. So I only use it at home. Gold Label is also very nice but, it gives me the same “problem”. My favourite for using “in town” is still Toque Original. I can use it all day long without having to blow my nose once. I’m waiting for a large tin of J&H Wilsons SP No 1 from Tom. It’s been shipped on the 3rd already and I’m holding thumbs that I will receive it this week.

It’s worth the wait Pieter. Pop the tin and give it a giant whiff…it will bring a massive smile to your face. Then, when you take it. The smile only gets bigger. Fantastic!

I must also add that I enhanced the power of Toque SP by adding in some crushed lavender and bergamot rinds that I picked out of a nice tea my stepmom bought me. It really adds an extra SP PUNCH! - as if it needed it anyways, I just like trying to make things stronger! BRUTON+Baking soda, for example. . . Bad idea.

i think this is toques best myself. this is the absolute best he has to offer at this point, in my mind. now, toque lavender is another story lol

I love the Extra SP when I am really jones’n for some nic. I will kill the craving longer than anything else I have tried. For shear snuff taking pleasure I think Wilsons Grand Cairo is my favorite SP.

SP Extra mixed 3:1 with Quit is one of the snuffs that is always in my pocket.
