Hi all, I communicated with Toque about whether they had any tips for a newb. Below is the friendly representative’s email back to me: I have attached our beginners guide to strength as this may be of interest. The snuffs marked with a 1 are the easiest for a beginner to take. You say sneezing is your biggest problem. If you are a complete beginner I suggest licking your thumb and forefinger and taking a large pinch, then rubbing the thumb and forefinger into the front part of the septum. I also say that surprisingly the larger the pinch the less of a sneeze/burn problem. Normally a beginner will stop sneezing within a day of use but, I for one am still a sneezer. I swear by my “Neti-pot” as this really helps me to take snuff and as a bonus both the snuff and my “Neti-pot” help with my dust allergies. Google “Neti-pot” if you suffer from nasal allergies you’ll love it. On one of the forums a snuffer suggested, “Closing the airway to your throat, hold your breath and drop your lower jaw and tongue while keeping your mouth closed. Do it once or twice without the snuff, try it with the snuff.” I realised after I read his comments that this describes what most snuffers subconsciously progress to and it is an excellent description of an advanced technique. I don’t understand where all the “ease of use” numbers come from. There is only 3 different base tobaccos in Toque snuff, the Quit base(SP Extra, Spanish Gem and Quit) the toast base and the regular base. Most Toque snuff use the regular base so they all have the same grind and moisture level and should therefore have the same “ease of use” number, why they are all different is beyond me. :-?

Someone here also suggested breathing in all you can, and then sniffing - the tiny bit of air your lungs can take in should mean you can’t over-sniff.

That definatily helps. I have to do that because if I don’t I’ll occasionaly spatically over sniff. Though the worst is when your nose is clogged and your sniffing hard to barely get any snuff and that’s the moment your sinuses open the whole way up.

YES!! I have only today figured this out. Even the action of sniffing or smelling moves too much air in. For me, it’s a matter of trying to move the air directly over my finger to occupy the space just inside my nose.

Drink the Mad Dog 20/20! After the first 1/2 the bottle you can’t even tell it’s disgusting.
