Posted this here in the review section, but I think this would be the right place. Sorry for the repost! Okay, this might seem like a dumb thing to ask, but I really think that my latest snuff order came with a mispackaged snuff flavor. Long story short: I bought a Whiskey and Honey and it smells exactly like smoked pork, which I’m pretty sure is what Toque Bacon and Cheese should smell like. There is absolutely nothing even remotely similar to the smell of whiskey or honey. No malt, no sweet aftertaste, just plain pork. It was awful, and I’m glad I had my tin of Toque Rose (which is absolutely amazing, by the way) to clear my nostril. I wouldn’t be surprised if this has been a case of placing the wrong label on the tin’s cover. In fact, I’d actually be pretty impressed by how accurate the smell of salty, cured bacon is in this thing, even though I absolutely hate the stuff. Did any of you ever have a similar experience?
You have the correct snuff. All Toque toasts have a similar smokey almost pork-bacon sort of underscent. This is often times more prominent than the added scent when the snuff is very fresh. Given time and a little airing the scents of the whiskey and honey should show themselves, although I admit they are not powerful. The Cheese and Bacon is very distinctive. You would know for sure if you had that. The smell of rank, moldy, rotten cheese is so overwhelming, you can smell it outside of your closed mailbox (even in a sealed tin, in a sealed bag in a sealed outer bag, in sealed envelope.) C&B was created as a joke since so many people remarked on, and seemed to like, the bacon-like character of the toasts.

I like Cheese and Bacon! not everyday but once in awhile for a change of pace. Think I’ll have some right now.
Thanks for the response, Xander. I’m going to air these smelly bastards out (same porky smell in my Spanish Gem) then see what happens. The rest of my order smells just fine, and I’m loving Toque’s floral snuffs, of which I have the Rose and Lavender.
Now I’m in the mood for cheese & bacon too.
Left my W&H and Spanish Gem airing by the window overnight. Eight hours later, still the same revolting smell. Simply thinking about how it smells makes me sick! How long should it take to air out the stink? At this moment, I’m seriously considering trading this stuff away, because I can’t stand even thinking of snuffing it.
That must be Cheese & Bacon then! You either love it or hate it. I love it. Keep it. It might grow on you. Or trade.
well my bourbon stinks like the cheese and bacon, but the rest of the snuffs i got at the same time were fine. i just put it down to being next to the cheese and bacon in transit.
Its not C&B if it were you wouldn’t be asking if it was, there is no mistaking that overwhelming rotten cheese smell, all Toque toasts have a hint of that bacony smokiness especially Bourbon and W&H and the fact that you say you get a similar scent from Spanish Gem strongly suggests that the snuff you have is most definately NOT Cheese & Bacon
yum rotten cheese my favorite
I’m suddenly hungry
I got a tin of Toque Menthol last month and while I’m sure it is menthol, I also get a strong lavender smell with it. Anybody else?
@wanderer I don’t remember getting any other scents in the toque menthol besides the menthol. @luizgsc I’m surprised your Spanish gem has that pork smell. I can understand the w&h but I never got that with spanish gem. After airing it out does it still have that smell to it?
I confess, I have when a newbie, on a couple of occasions confused w&h for c&b, and having read this thread, I put it down to this bacony smokyness @xander and 9inch are talking about. I say ‘confess’ because I always thought it was crazy I could get those two snuffs mixed up.
