I must say, when I saw this on Snuffstore.co.uk I was extremely excited. I love peanut butter! Cannot beat abit of peanut butter on toast, or in a sandwich or just, well you can’t beat it. So, when it arrived I was looking forward to trying it yet, for some reason I didn’t. I’ve only just now really started to snuff it after a about half a month. Upon taking that first pinch, it felt nice between my thumb and forefinger. The grind and moisture are just right for my liking so, taking it to my nose, I sniffed and waited… And waited… And waited… I’m slightly disappointed in this one. The peanut butter scent isn’t that strong and personally I can hardly smell it at all except for every now and again if at all. It certainly pales in significance to say, peach or absinth by Toque. The nicotine hit is hardly noticable as well. Is it just my nose, or is this offering from Toque abit of a let down? Maybe one to be put aside for ‘second thoughts’ or maybe heres to hoping it get a new blast of life like Raspberry, Cherry and Blueberry. What is everyone elses take?
I can’t stand this one. Impressed by the craftsmenship on this one, I just don’t like. Though I think you got a bum tin or you’re nose is strange because I found my old tin too peanuty or something like that.
Hmm maybe it is the tin as with other snuff, I can smell them fine. Who knows?!
And on second thought, if you still have your old tin I’d be more than happy to liberate it from you
Perhaps I have a weird nose too because I also share you love of peanut butter and ordered a tin. I could detect a slight peanut buttery scent, but that was it. I then ordered directly from Toque thinking that maybe the tin I had received the first time, from a vendor was older and more muted, but nope, got the same exact thing from the Toque tin, barely any peanut butter scent. This is not to say I dislike it, just wished it was a kick me in the face peanut butter scent! Maybe in the future such a thing will exist, one or two can wish. In the meantime, I am sure I will enjoy a more flavorful blueberry snuff, I’ve already placed my order and am excited about that!
I agree that the peanut butter taste is a bit lacking but I love this snuff because the base tobacco is very good and satifying.
So it isn’t just me. Good. I have been reading the reviews on snuffreviews.com and they are all raving on about how much it smells of peanut butter, yet I can only pick out a slight peanut butter note among that of the tabacco. Oh well, like you said zzedo, one or two can wish. Jonathan.
I don’t get peanut butter at all from this. My nose doesn’t like this or wilson’s Irish coffee. Both of them smell like mildew to me. Other than those two flavors I haven’t found anything I just hated.
I like how Toque doesn’t overpower their ‘specialty’ scents. Sure, there are times when I wish the peanut butter or other scents were a bit stronger, but this is snuff and I’m thinking the main goal is to somehow split the scent with the base tobacco, so a fellow gets a bit of each. If Toque only has a few that seem to fall short of expectation then I’d say they’ve still done a hell of a job-(-there’s only one mixer vs. 1 million opinions, LOL)
I like this one.
Toque flavourings can be quite fragile if aired too much, you didn’t leave the can open did you?
strange if you want to know what it smells like to me put a daub of peanut butter up your nostrils.
I like this one. As Bart said, the peanut butter scent is there, but you also get the pleasantly soothing base tobacco.
I only let it air for a breath moment to let the smell of ammonia pass. That didn’t take long. Since then it has been in an air tight plastic container (for keeping food fresh etc) and when you open that, the scent off all the tins in there hits you at once. One thing that, much to my disappointment is that I’ve noticed a couple of the Toque range really clog me up. What do they use to give their products their scents?
Peanut Butter does seem to be quite delicately scented, but I can taste it. All of Toque’s range are flavoured naturally.
Hmm, why do they seem to be making me conjested? Maybe it’s the grind or moisture? I’m currently plowing through a small tin of McC Raspberry with no affect thus far.
Think I spoke too soon on that one. Right side bloked up… I’m really starting to think about giving up snuff. I really enjoy it but what is the point if I’m getting conjested every time?
I’ve had congestion problems at times too, and am trying to find out which snuffs irritate me, and which don’t. Friday I did just a small amout of Hedges and was stopped up for 2 days. That might go in the trade or sell pile. Now Dholakia Medicated doesn’t seem to clog me.
Very nice, delicate yet clear peanut butter scent. Slightly salty and nutty with great tobacco base. I really like how Roderick merges particular scents with tobacco scent (IMO it’s done best in Champagne). Good grind and moisture, feels kinda fluffy between fingers. As said above it’s not overpowering but I got the scent right after I took the first pinch.
One of Toques Best. I will take a couple of pinches right now,
Wow! I just got my first order of Toque and this is the one I smelled as I opened the package. I immediately took a couple pinches. Oh it’s nice! Very defined scent, but not overpowering. Nutty (of course) and mellow. Good job Roderick.
Well, I was disappointed too. I can’t smell the peanut butter, more like a very subtle caramel and maybe some nut but not sure. I would give it a 2 star rating. Nice tobacco base and easy to snuff but could be a LOT more intense I think. And fades away quickly too. And clogs me too.
I usually use a bullet filled with a particular snuff for about a week so I can get a feel for it. With the Toque Peanut Butter I ran into an issue of some severe nasal burn when using this snuff. (Almost like a toast that has been inhaled too deep.) No heavy drip or anything, just painful burn. Worst was when I accidentally had my finger over the air hole on the bullet and got a full nostril and sinus passage of this stuff — A sharp, hot spike to my brain… Almost fell off the stool I was sitting on at the time. Usually it’ll fade away after about 15-45 seconds depending on how deep it makes it. I made my way through the entire bullet worth and I like it other than the pain spike, although I will agree with a number of other folks in how it is very subtle and doesn’t last long. I haven’t had this problem with any other Toque or other brand snuffs I’ve used. I was wondering about possible conflicts (nut allergy, just general sensitivity, etc), but I don’t get clogged up or even feel too bad after the pain spike occurs. Has anyone else run into this and if so any suggestions on how to make it more enjoyable… or at least less painful?

4 year old post or not, I can smell faint peanuts when I open the tin, just not in my nose. Maybe it’s because I’m still a smoker but the Swiss chocolate I have no problems smelling in my nose… So I dont know
