Very simple one this. Peach. Slight to minimal burn and the peach is immediate. Not candy at all, it’s just like that bit of peach that is just under the skin of the fruit. Fragrant to the the point of tasting it. Little to no tobacco scent. Similar to all the Toque products I’ve tried so far, same homogenized grind and moisture that tends to cake up in the nose but a nice dessert snuff for occasional usage.
My single issue with Toque is that the same ‘flour’ is used for such a lot of the product range. To be fair, I believe the success of the company has outstripped their production methods. There are probably reasons far beyond my understanding for this to be the case, but I would say - if asked (which I won’t be!) - don’t bring in any other flavours on this base.
Rodrick is the reason for the success of Toque. If the company were run by someone less personable it would not be as successful. He is branching out to other grinds and bases now. You should try some of his toasts (I like the whiskey and Honey) and the lime toast has no corresponding snuff in any other brand.
@ Nachman…AMEN
The Toque Peach and the Toque Raspberry are neck and neck in contention for my favorite fruit snuff.
I have no issue with a similar grind used for many snuffs by the same company. McChrystals, Samuel Gawith, Gawith Hoggarth, J&H Wilsons and to a lesser extent Wilsons of Sharrow all have a standard fine to medium grind. To this some coarser and finer variations are added, as Toque now do. Toque is a young and thriving business and has established a good tobacco base very quickly. I find some of their fruit snuffs don’t hit the mark, but their SPs and toasts (except Toast and Marmalade) and Lavender snuff always hit the spot with me.
I too, if asked, would challenge Roderick to star styles and types of tobaccos in his snuff making. Although it is almost certain he is thinking in this direction already.
No criticism intended - just thoughts from an ordinary consumer. I too am sure other styles will come as the company progresses, and of course most companies use similar bases. I’d just like to see the Toque genius applied to things like Latakia, Princes, dark bases etc. I know that’s easy for me to say but I think he probably knows what I mean!
I would like to see a clove and also a scotch type Toque.
The Xmas Pudding has a nice clove aroma and the Natural Toast is quite like a scotch.
Toque Peach is the nicest snuff I’ve ever had up my nose. It is my absolute #1 snuff.
I have every Toque made, at this time. I like the Christmas pudding and the Natural Toast. I’ve made a habit of taking a couple sniffs of McC clove before bed. To me, Christmas pudding is not quite the same thing. The natural toast is one of my favorites, probably number one or two for last years “new entries.” Doesn’t remind me of a scotch in any way though…
I’ve asked for a Toque Clove on quite a few occasions but I know Roderick is listening. Also a latakia would be awesome, I believe I have asked for that too. Thats the exciting part, wondering what he is coming up with next. Stefan
If you want an awesome clove get a tin of natural and put a few cloves in the tin for a day or two. Amazing. Plus no other clove snuff smells as nuanced as that.
That’s a great idea, I have a bulk bag of natural, somewhere around here.
it’s not as harsh either as normal clove snuff.
Who doesn’t love peaches. I have mixed this with Toque Vanilla for Peaches & Cream. It reminds me of peeling peaches in summertime when I had 2 peach trees in my yard back when I lived in Colorado. Natural, smooth and yummy. My favorite Toque fruit flavor. Except maybe for Pomegranate and Toque Strawberry is quickly moving up the ladder as well.
Toque Peach is just plain delicious, its like sticking your face in a basket of fresh peaches =P~
i’ll come clean. all the snuff i’ve experienced has come from toque and molens (+ am scotch) mostly due to economy of dollars. maybe some day soon i’ll make an order with mr snuff and become a bit more “worldly” . i don’t feel that i’m suffering too much. toque toasts , natural and flavored, are nice and plenty good for me. quit is an essential snuff. i could go on—but to the subject-peach. i dare anyone to think of a fruit better than a ripe peach. that a snuff can even approximate that is extraordinary. like i said–i’m limited in my snuff discussion. wish i could enter discussions on best HDT for example. BUT–i will always feel that toque has been a GREAT introduction for me and if there’s stuff out there better–it better be damn good. ///// when i do make an order with mr snuff–my short list includes the iconic HDT’s and viking dark. any other suggestions for basic neutral tobacco snuffs, excluding SP’s
