IJust received a 400g eco bag of TNT. It does not have the creamy like feel and scent to it like the tins I’ve had before it. It almost has a “raw” taste to it. Similar grind to rustica fin, a bit dustier than what I’ve had in the past dozen tins I’ve had as well. And the Is this just because it’s so fresh? It is my first economy order of Natural toast. Does it just need to “age” a bit to get its creaminess? Are the eco bags made to order?
Thank you Roderick. It does burn quite a bit. And the scent seems masked. I suppose it’s just the ammonia from it being so fresh. Ive already stored away 300g of it in glass and the rest in 25g tins. All try from a tin in a few days
I have a half kilo of this beauty in a glass jar. i can take it straight from the jar, if I want (and sometimes do when filling my snuffbox. I fill the snuffbox and empty it over the course of a few days. Its gold.
I’ve got to say, I’ve snuffed close to 50g so far and still, lots of ammonia. I think it caused an irritation in my nostril. Its very strong nic wise. Not a bad thing… I hope eventually it will “age” into the snuff I fell in love with though. Smooth, creamy, slightly industrial scent
Industrial scent? Sounds interesting. Like paper mills?
I can’t put my finger on it. I don’t know what a paper mill smells like. Maybe I get snuff mill scent. Lol
At its full strength you probably wouldn’t like it. Some reason making paper smells like a open full sewer.
Its not a sewer smell. More like machinery
Its mild. In the background scent.
So I have ordered 2 more economy bags since I started this post. The last one was the same as the one I first had. This one I received today is very different yet again I got used to the last couple bags but I don’t know about this latest batch. What is really unusual is that my last order from Mr snuff I recieved HDT and Irish high #22 and they both and a very similar scent to this batch of natural toast. I got very used to all three of these being completely different in their own right. HDT has always been buttery. #22 has always been smokey. Toque has always been creamy and lighter scented. Now they all have the same scent I can’t put my finger on. They all lack what I once loved about them and also what made them distinct. Natural toast has changed. I’m convinced. All three of them have changed.
Batches always change. The tobacco from the same fields will change due to many small factors each year. Rainfall ,temperature fluctuations, etc. Compare to a Wine. Same vineyards ,same process. Different each year.
Yep, terroir, just like wine.
Three 400g bags since this thread started!..man it aint the snuff that has changed…you dun gone and blowed your nose out :>)
I will have to try the new stuff as my 7 year 25 gram tin is almost empty. Have been savoring this one forever. If the new is like my old I will be the happiest snuffer of NT!
