I’ve not been a fan of floral snuffs, until now. My prior experiences with florals were more a reminder of a perfume factory run amok or granny’s unmentionables drawer (not that I know that from actual experience). I say until now. I’ve been spending time with Toque Rose, Lavender and Violet, and I’ve had a major change of heart. I think it’s the tobacco, the mill and the natural scenting that makes this selection more appealing to my personal snuff habit. The scenting is applied with a deft hand and they don’t overpower the tobacco. They all smell like the flowers they contain and are beautifully done. They won’t be the first thing I reach for, but they will disappear quickly. Another prejudice bites the dust. Good snuff. Get some
Toque Violet is great. I suppose many of the F&T range could also be described as floral, but the violet has a clean, pure, unfussy nature, a single, bright note, that makes it completely different. Not just a modern floral, but a minimalist one.
Toque Violet is fantastic. I only use it sparingly, but a little goes a long way. I have been using it to scent to Rustica fin I bought last year. The scent reminds me of Violet Pastilles candy I used to like as a teen, many decades ago. I don’t know how Roderick does it, but he captures the exact scent, and the base flour is the usual excellent type. I agree w/you both! I haven’t tried the Lavender Toque, only SG L. dark, which I really like. I also like the rose, which as Daniel mentioned, captures the floral essence, without overpowering, like many other do.
I find the Lavender a great bedtime snuff, very relaxing.
Here in recent nights I have been getting a “night cap” of VIolet by McChrystal’s … will have to give the Toques a go and see what all the hub bub is about …
The toque violet is better than the McCrystals, and the McC is dam good to start with! The toque rose makes me want to eat it as it is so much like Turkish delight it’s unreal!
Got me thinking here, I am not a floral snuff person either, though I may now try the Toque lavender on my next order, a pinch of that at bed time sounds good to me, blueberry may be good also
Ended up ordering some Toque ginger and Toque lavender in my big box order yesterday … already shipped so … soon …
Might be a bit left-field here but if you enjoy the rose/turkish delight type of scent you may want to try F&T Bordeaux. Not a Toque I know, but right up there as my favourite floral.
@Koba22, more like a bouquet of flowers. The Toque florals are just a single type of flower. I kinda like that.
@JakartaBoy this is true, and I love them for it. Toque Rose is amazing and Ginger (not really a floral I know) is one of my favourites! With the Bordeaux I think the rose is the dominant scent, with the other florals as a background, but of course everybody gets something different, thats the beauty of it!
Just had my first go with the Toque lavender. Nice, subtle. Glad I picked some up, and can wholeheartedly make the suggestion if someone likes Lavender to try it - it is not overly “soapy”, but instead cleanly pleasant and “natural”.
I just read this, late of course. But I too just ordered Toque Lavender and Ginger. The only lavender I’ve tried is SG Lav. dark, which I really like. Can’t wait to try the Toque version.

Conversely, I think that might be why they leave me cold, or at least find I don’t want multiple pinches on the same evening. It’s only really their floral scents that turn me off, as I like several of their other single scent snuffs for occasional use; Toffee, Absinthe, Blueberry, Vanilla, Coke, Pomegranate… very nice for layering up with. Take a good nose full of a good plain coarse snuff, enjoy for a few minutes. Take a pinch of the flavoured toque on top, enjoy a few minutes more. Blow, then repeat process using a different Toque “topping”, or even layered toppings. When you feel your nostrils getting all sloppy inside, you’re ready for another layer >:) Occasionally, blow and take a “palatte cleansing” pinch of Wos Thyme and Lemon, or Spearmint plus, or GH Sea Breezes (or your refresher of choice), before resuming the layering. Great for an evening in with a good book, and a few choice libations
Since my last post I received the Toque lavender. It is very pleasant. I have been using it by pinching a little SG Lavender first, then following it up with the Toque. They mix well. Also got Toque Ginger, which is quite unique and nice. I thought it might be too spicy but its not. I can’t really describe it other than to say its a medium brown base, finely ground, moderate moisture, with a silky smooth feel, and on top is the ginger aroma, which feels nice in the nose, doesn’t overpower me, and blows clean. Another winning snuff from Roderick.
Just opened a tin of toque violet. I already love the rose and this is even better. The smell is so real and light and long lasting. Not a all day every day but very good once or twice a day.
Toque Rose is nice, but I still like WoS Rose more. The reason is exactly the opposite to what many here have said: I find the rose aroma too light. It’s a bit different aroma though and a bit sweeter than WoS, so I like it.
Ginger is a different beast. I find it the best Toque so far. It really feels like having a piece of ginger in my nose
I really liked their Rose and Lavender. Violet is on my wish list.
My order of Toque Rose and Violet along with Wilsons of Sharrow Jasmine arrived today. Both Toques are very nice, with the Violet Scent lasting for up to 30 mins with a pinch of the nose. The WoS has a lot more bite on the uptake.
