It seems darker, coarser and moister than the other two Toques I’ve tried so far (Peach and Christmas Pudding). It’s very easy to take. The first thing I smelled when I opened the tin was bergamot. The aroma is pretty strong, somewhat soapy and lasts longer than the Peach and Christmas Pudding. When Berwick Brown sits in your nose for a good minute, a light and maybe sweet leather like scent starts developing. Good stuff.
One of my favorites. Good review, short, to the point, and accurate.
I like it too. may get the economy bag next time
It was the 1st Toque I tried, and I still have a “nasal memory” of it. I must order a big bag next time. I had the opportunity of serving an older couple last week at the cafe where I tend bar. I asked the gentleman if he took snuff, or knew anything about it, then produced a tin of JH SP to show him. I then asked him if he’d heard of Berwick, to which he replied " Do you mean " Berrick?" He told me my American pronunciation was incorrect. The W is silent. I stand corrected. Just thought I’d let the rest of my fellow Yankees know in case you ever get over to visit the homeland of snuff. I’d sure like to do that someday before I expire. Gawith, Wilson’s, Toque, I’d love to see them in person and buy large tubs of fresh snuff. That would be a great vacation.

Im a bit slow in finishing off the value bag but its a great snuff, and when purchased by the bag- very reasonably priced. That’s one thing I like about Toque is their value bags.
This one is going on my first order from Toque…
One thing I really like about the Berwick Brown (as well as the SP Extra) is after snuffing, step out into the cool winter air, and all kinds of subtle new flavors emerge. The BB reminds me of a quality black tea, and the SP E reminds me specifically of Earl Grey tea.
Earl Grey tea.
I love Earl Grey Tea…
One of my favorite Toque snuffs.
Just re-read this and had to order an economy bag! I haven’t had BB for a few years. It was one of the 1st Toques I tried and I can still kind of remember the scent.
I got my Toque order yesterday, it was the first tin I popped open… Took a nice hit and it was like sniffing Earl Grey tea
I am anxiously waiting for my 50gm bag to arrive. I recall that it was very good snuff. The only problem was I ordered a 10 gm tin and went though it quickly. Next time around I will get 200gms and be set for a nice long while.
Definitely one of my top five snuffs! I absolutely love the stuff. I just wish Rodders would offer more snuffs in this grind, as my nose is incompatible with finer snuffs. I have plain and BlackBerry in bulk, but the Coltsfoot isn’t really to my taste. OK for the occasional pinch, but the Berwick Brown and Plain are two I could spend the rest of my life with.
So when you say Earl Grey, is it in the same neighborhood as a standard SP? Curious, funny I made a MrSnuff order about 10 days ago and this is in the box, looking forward anxiously even more so now.
