Toque and Wilsonsof Sharrow

Ok, I use snus as my main means of vitamen N, but because of my bodys sensitivity to nicotine ive been trying different avenues to try and get satisfaction while being as " safe " as possible. I once used snuff about a year ago and St. Clements was all I used, until it just started developing this wet dog aroma so i went back to snus. Well, I recently received 6 10g tins in the mail. Toque Spanish Gem, Cherry Menthol and Bourbon. Wilsons of Sharrow Tangerine, Lemon Groe and Apricot. My favorite so far is the Spanish Gem, its fantastic, and so is the Cherry Menthol. The only one from wilsons I liked was Lemon Grove. My disappointments were Toque Bourbon ( Smelled nothing of bourbon ( which I consume regualrly ) )and the oher Wilsons. The wilsons tangerine just smells too artificial and the apricot is just not what I was expecting. Anyways my favorite is now spanish gem , what an excellent snuff

I like the Toque Bourbon, but I don’t think it’s like bourbon whisky at all.

Nah, the common concensus, even with Roderick at the moment is that the Bourbon smells like bacon.

Hi Grim I used to smoke my cigars and pipes and now mostly I snuff and I smell better and my lungs thank me. Plus I don’t have to run outside to get my Nicotine. My wife still does not understand any of it. I agree with you on the Wilsons flavors. The tangerine and apricot are not what I want in these flavors. I liked the lemon grove periodically, but I found the McCrystals lemon is much better. You should try it. As for the Toque flavors I like the Spanish Gem a lot. The bourbon is a favorite of mind since it has a nice toasty flavor that I like in the F&T Dry High Toast and is easier to take. I drink the top shelf bourbon and you are right the flavor is not the same, but good anyway… I am not a menthol guy, but the cherry works for me when I am in the mood. Try the other Toque menthol flavors they are good too. I recomend to you the Toque Toffee and the Toque Coke. For me these are my go to snuffs. Happy snuffing!

Im an ex smoker and Ive found that Toque and Wilsons are the ones that keep me on the straight and narrow. The Toques that I use now are Original, Quit and Natural. WoS snuffs I find useful are Best SP and Rose. Basically plain tobacco ones apart from the Rose. The toasts from either company are good as well - toast and marmalade and WoS HDT (Fribourg and Treyer).

Ive had the Toast and Marmalade but its so fine and dry that im not at the level where I can take it and enjoy it yet. I was trying the wilsons out because I wanted a replacement citrus to the st clements that I loved from toque. I have finally figured it oout as to why Spanish Gem is my favorite out of the bunch, it reminds me of those scratch n sniff books from when i was a child, it was a christmas one. ( Note : this doesnt smell like christmas but it does have a spice scent ) The Toque Bourbon isnt bad, it just isnt bourbon. It does have a nice toasty scent but it doesnt smell like what I was expecting.

I go through mini phases it seems. Sometimes I just want menthols, but they turn the water works on, sometimes I want variety of non-menthol flavors, and then sometimes I want a good plain natural.

I loved the bourbon for about two days the just completely went off it, that really gets me about snuff, you can love one and then hate it or vice versa. The Gem is a nice spicy one, if you like that try the xmas pudding snuff.

I’ll second the recommendation of Xmas Pudding. Spanish Gem is better, but its a good one all the same. I haven’t made up my mind about Bourbon yet. As for Wilson’s no one better be knocking my Apricot!! LOL I know its not everyone’s favorite, but its one of mine. You can always “put it up for adoption” LOL Tangerine is still in terra incognita, and Lemon Grove arrived today, so I’ll know it soon. Just keep trying new snuffs, Grim. You’ll find some favorites soon enough!

I will find different UK snuffs shine in different areas. For my tastes, SG’s forte is the coarse dark tobaccos, Toque is Berwick Brown and the fun snuffs such as the single fruits and toffee or vanilla. GH has a slightly gritty grind when it loses hydration and still works in my nose, combined with a subtlety of scent in their wild mint, sea breezes, and strawberry. WoS is harder to pin down due to the very broad spectrum of snuffs offered. There are snuffs from all of the UK’s primary mills which I don’t want to be without. I think on the subject of Toque vs WoS, the correct answer is Toque AND WoS!
