Toque: A question about scent

I notice Toque is a very popular snuff around here so I was wondering. Which Toque variety has the most potent (non-menthol) scent. I have tried Peanut Butter, Cherry, Blueberry, and Whiskey and Honey. I just have never really gotten the scent and flavor from them I was really able to notice. I don’t know if it’s me or maybe they weren’t very fresh. I usually snuff darker, more coarse snuffs, and always notice scents and flavors and variations in them, but so far the Toques have all seemed the same to me. Is there a potent, standout, flavor anyone can recommed? Something that I will definitely notice the “taste” of?

Toque Peach…it’s like biting into a fresh Yellow Cling peach. For me this one is Toque’s best ever snuff.

If you like the darker, coarser snuffs, you might give Berwick Brown a try. It’s got a pretty strong aroma, especially when it’s fresh.

Berwick Brown. No question.

Pieter, I’m going to try a Peach/Vanilla/Cinnamon mix. I’m trying to replicate peach cobbler in a snuff.

Toque Pomegranate by far is the longest lasting snuff that Toque makes IMO! I would say it is quite potent! The Wiz!

Berwick sure does. and it’s feckin’ fantastic.

Berwick Brown SP Extra Coke Quit Pomegranate Original Toffee Spanish Gem Rose All of these rank 5 stars with me. Most other Toques merit at least 4. Cherry and Peanut Butter are among the *very* few I would not recommend.

I only possess Toque’s Christmas Pudding, Whisky and Honey, Pomegranate, Spanish Gem, and Absinthe, but so far I have noticed a similar trend, Nose. I think one of the things about Toque is that none of them seem very strongly perfumed, the tobacco flavor is allowed to shine through, since the scents themselves always seem to be fairly subtle. One particular upside to this, that I’ve noticed, is that the drip never burns or tastes real bad. I’ve found that with the more heavily perfumed and heavenly smelling snuffs, they tend to scorch to throat on their way back down(like getting cologne in your mouth/throat!) and I end up needing to have a hack and spit fest once I’ve sniffed too much. Toque on the other hand, I’ve never had this problem with any of the snuffs from them… This is both good and bad, because instead of ejecting snuffy mucus, I just end up swallowing it instead since it doesn’t pose a bother on its way down. Most of the ones I have can manage to be decent enough ‘all day snuffs’, since they don’t possess a very strong flavor- in that sense, they may not satisfy a particular craving, but are usually not too ‘I’m not in the mood for that smell’ to sniff. On the other hand, while they are all pleasant, of quality, and easy to sniff, I haven’t picked one up yet that really ‘sparkles’- I’m going to have to try the new versions of the fruits Roderick announced, Berwick Brown and the Lime Toast, to see how those stand out. Of the ones I possess, for something noticeably different, I’d reccommend the Absinthe. It has a nice, odd anise/licorice scent and is not similar to any of the others I’ve tried.

I haven’t tried the BB, but the Lime Toast is excellent!

I’ll give a try to some of the ones that were suggested. I’m generally a fan of something with a strong and very noticable scent. Even my “go-to” natural snuffs are by default ones that have a strong note of dark tobacco or the curing like Gekachelter Virginie or Taxi/Ntsu. When it comes to scented varieties, then it’s the stronger the better. I’m going to give a go to the new ones mentioned here and in Roderick’s new thread. I’m sure I’ll be able to find something with enough scent strenght for my tastes.

The Absinthe and Spanish Gem are the 2 standouts of what I’ve tried so far with respect to “in your face” scent.

Berwick Brown has a big kick. I love the scent, it just doesn’t seat right with my nose (As most coarser snuff’s don’t aswell) Umm Natural Toast is a rather Strong snuff, and Lime Toast is great! Very flavorfull and delicate in the nose. Rasberry is scented pretty Potently. St clements is terribly citrusy, in a good way.

So far Toque has been treble noted for the most part. Not a bad thing for most of us unless you can’t hear the high notes.
