Top Mill no 1 mini review/ opinion request

Not had this for a while but just opened a nice large vacuum tin version, so super fresh! Similar to sp no1 in appearance ( maybe slightly fluffier?) and certainly in aroma. In the nose, this seems a little less complex than the sp, and perhaps a little more floral? Anyway, am more interested in other views and am really posting as I’ve been lucky enough to get these brilliant vacuum sealed j&h Wilson tins. The snuffs may not be to all tastes but the freshness quality on opening the tins is a treat in itself!

Where did you found this Top Mill in the large tins?

Other than the Black Swan, I don’t think there is an online merchant that carries them. They will probably ship to you ap, just not the USA.

Yeah, Black Swan I do find these difficult to find snuffs interesting. Are they really only making this for one shop to sell?

I really like this snuff and going to order that 25g tin from Black Swan, or the whole JH Wilsons family. It’s good basic old man’s snuff. About tins, it seems that Peterson’s of Dublin only sell some Samuel Gawith snuffs in 25g vacuum-sealed tins, only 2 menthol varieties but better than nothing. I think that size tin is ideal for average snuff consumer, I mean a drum is huge amount of snuff.

yeah the 25 grams are a great size last a little bit. It definatly says I really snuff when you have a 25 gram tin.

So if a maker produces a tin size and we only see it in one store, that makes zero sense. They must sell them elsewhere surely?

Sam Gawith makes also pipe tobacco which is sold in round or rectangular tins so the tins are there. Still why sell snuff only in one shop? Well all businesses are run by geniuses so they know what they’re doing.

I remember that there was a member here who was able to get the SG factory to ship full cases of the aforesaid vacuum sealed tins. He lived in the UK. I in turn purchased two Irish D and two Top Mill no.1 from him. They were fabulously fresh upon opening and I still have two unopened left. Subsequently and regrettably the member made some offensive posts and was either banned or quit the forum. Perhaps another, if persistent and residing in the UK could do the same.

If these snuff makers just came on here they would get decent sales surely? I agree with earlier post, I just don’t want to be buying drums of the stuff, 2 or 3 vacuum sealed big tins every once in while is fine for me

Samuel Gawith drives me crazy! So they could put their snuff and pipe tobacco in proper tins but they don’t. And there never was a reply from them regarding my letter about the deficiencies of the tap box. Oh well, I’ll have pleasant dreams thinking about popping open fresh tins of vacuum sealed Gawith tobacco products tonight…I wonder how much more delicious CCC would be when it’s fresh!
