Tom Buck extra strong ?

D

I was looking at Mr Snuffs this evening to make up future order, something I want to try is Tom Buck, as I was not overly impressed with Best SP, They do a Tom Buck Extra Strong, is this the same as Tom Buck? I think from what I read Tom Buck is a step up from Best SP? ( I enjoy Toques SP Extra) Any SP aficionados out there can steer me in the right SP direction Thank you

Here is a quick thumbnail on WoS bergamot-scented SPs: Tom Buck & Queen’s Extra Strong are the same snuff, typical base with extra bergamot scent added SP Menthol is the standard SP base with added menthol Gold Label is a Zimbabwe base with the standard SP scenting plus rose and lavender Irish High Toast #20 is a fine but not toasted tobacco with the standard SP scent added Best Dark is the SP scent added to a darker, smokier & slightly moist base Grand Cairo is the SP scent with some “exotic” (clove, anise, cinnamon are my guess) spices added the base seems a little moister and is a nice reddish color S.S. is a legit toast with the SP scent added SP 100 is the bergamot base with lemon and jasmine added Best SP is bergamot with lemon and orange zest SP2 is a light-scent bergamot on a Virginia base There are many others that may qualify such as Strasbourg, Brunswick and the lemon-scented ones.

There is no snuff called Tom Buck Extra Strong its a typo that we’ve asked him to correct many a time, if you order it you will get a tin of Tom Buck or Queen’s Extra Strong which are the same snuff.

Thank you fpr the info @Ivan‌ Had my mind made up to Tom Buck next, now I may need to try a few What is S.S ?

F

@Derek_007‌ perhaps give Gold Label a go too. Like Tom Buck but more citrus, less floral. I prefer it over TB

Thank you, I may get a direct order from WoS this time, and order a few SPs… Should be good and fresh direct from the factory.

my favorite S.P. ish snuff from Wilsons is. https://mrsnuff.com/product\\_info.php?cPath=100\\_109&products\\_id=2311 Which like Grand Cairo has some extra stuff going on.

Grand Cairo is like Sp at the spice market. Strausbourg is similar but with some type of floral addition that just classes up the joint a few extra fold. Great snuff that isn’t given enough love.

@ivan ‘s message stumped me, specifically “Gold Label is a Zimbabwe base with the standard SP scenting plus rose and lavender.” My first 10g tin seemed like pure citrus to me and I really liked it. I’ve just opened a new tin and now get the rose and lavender and dont’ like it as much. I do wish they wouldn’t meddle with this one. Does anyone know what’s going on?

I

@Franknsnuff: Apparently there are 2 variations on Gold Label, there was a discussion about it here: http://snuffhouse.org/discussion/2883/two-wos-gold-labels. @Derek_007 my best guess of what the “S.S.” stands for would be “Snuff Store” where Wilsons made a bespoke snuff for sale under the Snuff Store label and also offers it for sale in their name brand line.

Snuffhouse Wilsons SS discussion mentions SS may be “Scotch Snuff” here: http://snuffhouse.org/discussion/comment/81374#Comment\\_81374
