Tobacco Leaf Firm in the UK

I am thinking of trying my hand at milling my own snuff.               Pipe tobacco looks a bit expensive to use.

I have found this UK site selling tobacco leaf         www.wholeleaftobacco.co.uk/

Has anyone here used them, and if so what tobacco would you recommend from their stock.

I just tried the link and it does not work.

Try searching for    Whole Leaf Tobacco UK.

They are based in Wigan.

Hello  nicmizer   thank you for the lead.    I am in the UK as is the Whole Leaf Tobacco Company.

The problems of customs and import duties have already been sorted out by the firm.

I read on this site that someone looked into getting leaf tobacco sent from The States to the UK and the paper work was horrendous.   They didn’t bother in the end.

I have not looked closely at the UK sites prices but snuff is cheap here as there is no tax on the snuff we buy.  So I assume leaf tobacco would be cheap for snuff.

This company sells the leaf tobacco for snuff making only so the Customs and Excise do not need to be consulted as long as I do not use it for smoking.  As I am  a non smoker there is no temptation for me to break the rules.

Some interesting tobaccos there though.

The rules have changed, last year I believe. Now you have to register with customs and excise in order to buy whole leaf, even if you are just making snuff.

TL4U is the site I ve used for years .http://www.tobaccoleaf4u.com/

Or just paste if my link doesn’t work .

Really reliable , cheap . You will get quite a variance of stock over time , but it’s all good stuff .

I m not sure about the current legal status post TPDday but at the moment , they still cater to home users .

As usual , it doesn’t look good at all :(

Aw crap , after 1st of April , the whole tobacco game is pretty much dead in the water :(

Hello  Pikey and 50ft-trad    I  just found TL4U    just before you posted about them here.

You are right about the 1st April 2017.

I looked at their links to the Excise Rules.

EXCISE NOTICE 476: TOBACCO PRODUCTS DUTY

3.4    Nasal snuff is not subject to the tobacco duty in the UK.  From 1st April 2017 you will need to be approved by HMRC if you manufacture nasal snuff,  either for personal use or for sale.  Approval procedures and exemptions are contained in    Notice 2003 tobacco duty - The Raw Tobacco Approval Scheme.

Lots of interesting reading and links on their site, but I think I have missed the boat.

Looking at the regs , you can still make snuff with duty paid tobacco without registration , so that is some consolation . You can also process tobacco stems so you can add to leaf . You can still buy before 1st of april but you ll have to grind soon as to avoid falling foul of the legislation

This really affects me , I grew tobacco ,bought whole tobacco , used it in ejuice , was intending to make a lot more snuff in the future . I ve looked into the registration process and I will not be considered a suitable person for this sort of private endeavour …or as a business concern :(

It is what it is . I ve been to jail for drugs offences so I m unwilling to resist this particular law . I ve bought 1.5 of leaf for processing but I won’t be laying in larger amounts . I also won’t be growing tobacco this year …maybe a few plants …but I can’t be curing large quantities of prohibited material . That would be foolhardy…
