I must admit, I’m having a bit of undecisiveness at the moment. I’m either going to place a order from Toque consisting primarily of a few bulk items or a Mr. Snuff order of various 25g or less tins from various manufactures. That being said, what would you do if you could only choose one?.. Purchase a few bulk items of snuff you know you’d love or a sampler of previously untried to you 25g or less tins.
@Southern_Snuffster - Ah the age old dilemma of ‘the devil or the deep blue sea’. Tough call, I think it depends on the availability of the snuffs in question, there’s not much worst that developing an affection for something and then for it to go off production (Gitanes Cigarettes for me) or out of stock (SWS Havana Toast). But then how would you find new gems such as these without trying new things? Suppose that if you stick with what you know you’ll only ever get what you already have, some would say be contented with this. But trying new things enlarges your world doesn’t it, and is an education in itself? Sometimes the deep blue seas lead to ‘dragons’ at the end of the world, other times to a new continents or beautiful islands, who knows what delights you’ll find there! Hedge your bets then? Oh and avoid tap boxes!!!
Happy hunting dude, enjoy yourself
honestly, id mix it up. its nice to have bulk if you KNOW you will keep coming back like i do with firedrac or its something you can mix to tone down/kick up other snuffs, but i often find myself completely taken with a snuff till ive had maybe a whole tin or two, then i go off it. that said, in all cases you need to make sure its being stored properly. definitely worth investing in some accurately sized (or slightly small) mason/kilner jars (the glass type with the two piece lid) for bulk snuff.
Both. Maybe not at the same time, but both.
I alternate orders between variety and, bulk.
@MisterPaul Well put response. As far as tap boxes go, I steer clear of those unless it is schmalzler. Thinking I’ll go the variety route for now from Mr. Snuff as there are still many I want to try and pick up one or two bulk items later on from Toque that are must haves for regular use.
@MisterPaul Agree with tap boxes also. I empty those into my old Toque tins My next order will be a variety and one or two bulks that I know I enjoy … Great value Kilners from a very small size (just holds my 25g Cafe Noir) right up in IKEA etc
I started with buying variety for ~2 years & decided which I liked very much, the sort of snuff I kept going back to. And then I decided I had a good sized collection & only then did I buy several snuffs in bulk. (500g & up)
That sounds about right. But even when I put in a bulk order, I usually include at least a single item that I haven’t tried yet. Last time, it was 15gm of Creme de Figue. Even if you think SWS is expensive – it is, at least relatively – the 15 gram tins are an affordable investment and give you a taste of an excellent snuff.
My snuff stock is not that large at all compared to some snuffers on this forum. I am never too keen on trying snuff I never tried before unless I read some reviews. So I usually order bulk of a snuff I like, store that cool and fill up my snuff box every few days with either of the few snuffs I have.
