I have noticed that Royal George has an ammonia smell to it when fresh and moist. I have let mine “air out” for a day and it is now dryer and more pleasant now. I wonder if other snuffs benfit from this.
In my opinion, all fresh snuffs benefit from airing out. However I recommend only airing out as much as you will be using in a day or two. The snuff box is perfect for this as “airing” should be in a controlled environment such as a closed snuff box half full. Older snuffs if kept airtight and oxygen starved will be better with a little breathing time too.
My opinionon Royal George? Baby powder. Opinion on airing out the ammonia smell? I agree with @Juxtaposer
@transistor, Royal George is a decent snuff and a perfect mixer. Take some time and analize what’s in there and you’ll find it’s pretty good. I also did not like it at first but now it’s a favourite. Not an everyday snuff but one I always want on hand.
@PieterClaassen Yes, it is a very complex snuff, it probably takes a developed nasal palate to get all the complexity.
it’s a favorite of mine too. I love that I keep noticing things I never picked up on before. It’s an interesting all day snuff. Mostly because your nose will tire of some scents leaving others more in the forefront.
Another snuff to add to my wishlist! I’m glad it keeps growing as fast as I draw it down.
Use it like salt, a snuff seasoning for plainer snuffs that have gone west.
