Things Are a Bit Wonky...

Trying to figure some things out. The theme may change back and fourth. Some icons went odd so I also changed the comment editor. Sorry folks, not sure what exactly caused the issues.

Ok… Looks like changing the theme fixed some of the issues. It is possible that the Theme Author changed something that isn’t quite working, we might have to stick with this one for a while. Some of you might have noticed some odd “highlighting” of thread titles and such. Also the comment editing options (bold, italics, etc) went AWOL and looked odd. Just good ole Vanilla.

Here is what I am experiencing: Seems that “read” threads now appear as white. Some other functions have either disappeared or changed.

This is what I have been seeing for weeks. I’ve learned to live with it, and I blame my browser’s incompatibility with Vanilla.

Well, it’s not totally your browser. I see it here at home and at work.

I’m seeing it as well but it only started a day or so ago.

I don’t like it! The white is tooo bright. Can Vanilla tone it down to Vanilla?

In my experience, the white ones are threads to which I have looked at or made a post to some time during the day. It took me a few days to figure that out… BTW: Glad to see that the double spacing is gone! I’m also getting a red “Failed to find discussion for commenting” error message after I edit a post, but it goes away when I refresh the screen. I wasn’t a software tester for nothing don’cha know…

@howdydave You are a OCD editor. I have to clean up and dispose of all the edited posts…

The light background is really distracting, IMO. You can fix it by editing this line in the CSS file: .Item.Read { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #F3F3F3; opacity: 0.9; } Just replace the hex “#F3F3F3” with “#000000” (zeros) and the white background disappears. If you still want see the read posts slightly darker change opacity to 0.7 or 0.8. HTH

The CSS file being this one: http://autostatic-cl1.vanilladev.com/snuffhouse.vanillaforums.com/applications/dashboard/design/style.css?v=2.1a22 (heh, this editors “code” is pretty much unreadable, but you can copy-paste it away.)

I’ve changed the theme. I’ll leave it here unless there are some serious objections.

What can I say… Technical writers are, by nature, editors of their work! If the edit function is giving you grief, can’t you disable the function?

I see that the white of this thread (now that I just posted to it) is gone!

On the other hand, this sounds like some work that Vanilla needs to do on their software. Have you contacted them about “lurking pre-edit posts?”

Then again… you might want a record of all modifications. See how much clutter the board gets when I don’t edit? In my normal mode these 4 posts of mine would all end up in 1 edited post!

Yes, we get a record of the modfications, it is helpful to the moderation team, however, the useless ones can pile up if not deleted promptly. However, you should be aware that many readers may only read the first version. Anyway, you should still be able to edit your posts, there is a little cog in the right top of the text box that only shows up if you mouse over it using this color scheme.

I like this theme we have now. Now being 22:35 BST >:)

I’ve been using the cog to access the board edit function… I don’t know what to say if you are still being overwhelmed, because I AM using the Vanilla edit method.

Like the other sloth, I like the current theme. Looks quite classy, and I also noticed that you can see which users have done ‘like’ and ‘agree’ for other users (I don’t think we could do this before, but I may be wrong).
