The White Indians

I’ve now tried all the White Indians that are readily available, except Willie Pete. I have to say, I was very excited to get the White Elephant and the Cheeta, but while I’m happy to have tried them and would be happy to get more, I still give the prize to Dholakia White. I’ve been revolving the three over the past couple of weeks, and I always get a particular bit of extra pleasure when it’s the turn of the DW. It’s true, as some people have said, that WE is nuttier and smoother than DW – but the pungent, vinegary, sharp taste of DW is exactly what I like about it. If you want smooth, you shouldn’t be playing with the Indian Whites. Cheeta is good, I enjoy the slightly citrus scent, but it’s a minor note compared to the other two. Added to the fact that DW is slightly cheaper and – more importantly – easier to get in bulk, and my loyalty remains with this one. I’ll have to include the Willie Pete in an upcoming order, just to round out my experience with the genre, but until then, I’m a Dholakia loyalist.

Dholakia Sparrow and Sparrow Cool are excellent and worth a try, not exactly white but deliver a nice unscented tobacco nicotine hit. Something about Willie Pete I notice is the throat drip is on the sweet side, I enjoy it

I’m intrigued. What defines a white?

^a snuff that is very pale in colour(hence the name white) and dry with an insanely fine grind.

they are fine, and the colour is so close to white.

Funny, because DW is really the snuff I consume most of, I’ve stopped thinking of it as particularly fine. It’s more that most other snuffs seem quite coarse. I noticed last night when I dug out some Abraxas Club Fin that when I snuffed it, a lot of it didn’t stay in my nose, probably because I snuffed it as if it were a white. Even though the Abraxas CF is hardly a wet, coarse snuff, you can’t take it the same way. I’ll really have to start learning all over again if I ever do get into the moist, coarse snuffs.

The four that are readily available from Mister Snuff are: 1) Dholakia White 2) 41 Photo White Elephant 3) 6 Photo Cheeta 4) Fubar Willie Pete There are a few other Indian brands that don’t seem to be exported. I did a trip to Tibet early this year, white snuffs are the standard there. They seem to be even finer than the first three that I listed, when people snuff and then exhale through their mouth, you usually get a cloud of dust coming out. Quite a good party trick.

Wow! Haha! Thats fine! I have DW on my list of “to-buy”'s

I don’t think of SPs as particularly fine, but I often exhale a dust cloud even with those.

I just got my order of D white and white elephant. I have no problem taking them I prefer dry snuff but this stuff is amazing!!! My only regret is not buying enough!

You need to get some fresher SPs

Even fresh SPs can have me coughing a cloud sometimes, depending on how my nose is at the time. :-S We’re all built differently :-??

@n9inchnails They’re fresh from bulk. I expel dustclouds as a matter of routine, I don’t think too much of it.

I got the understanding from some other thread (I can’t remember which) that Indian whites often are without any bouquet of aroma. They are more focused towards nicotine satisfaction than aroma. Is that true?

6 Photo Cheeta is scented. It’s quite an interesting change from raw Dholakia White. A citrus note, and a slightly softer, gentler base tobacco maybe.

t@JakartaBoy you really are a keen obsever! the added scent is really very minuscule but you picked it up !

@sixphoto, it’s certainly not a strong scent, but I wouldn’t say minuscule, either. The base tobacco, while not as pungent as the Dholakia White, still has a strong taste and smell of its own, so the scent is a bit covered by that. But it’s still clear and present. By the way, when I was younger and still smoking, I tried Indian bidi a few times. I used to like them, except for their tendency to go out almost after every drag. I always think the white Indian snuffs have something of the same flavour. Do you know if it’s the same kind of tobacco?

Beedi consists of tobacco leaf (wrapper) and tobacco crush inside. The tobacco is different from what is used for nasal snuff. We use a lot of different types of tobacco to create our own special blend which gives our snuff a unique taste.
