So you want to start using snuff You order a few that sound good in 5g or 10 You find that you like a few of them but you only have 5 or 10 grams. So you order those in say 25g and throw in a few 5s or 10s that look interesting Great you have your favorite in a 25 but you really love 1 or 2 of the new 5s or 10s So you order those in say 25g and throw in a few 5s or 10s that look interesting Are you seeing a pattern here. Does it ever end. We can only hope not
@3_D you forgot when your 25’s run out you replace them with 250’s.
And the cycle starts again.
My problem is the amount of money I have spent on snuff which I am sure is pennies compared to others. But most of those sit in the padded envelope from mrsnuff because I dont like them. I am to the point now where I don’t want to spend anymore money searching for my perfect snuff. I am going to start making my own and will be able to perfect the exact quality that I want. Me being a perfectionist will help with this venture
@lunecat I will be putting some snuff up in the marketplace for trade. Most have only had a few pinches taken out of them, I think one or two are brand new sealed. Thanks for the idea.
I like when I just place an order ,there something new to try, so I start a new cart. I could never just entertain one perfect snuff. Even the best snuffs I get bored with in a short period. I do like having thousand of choices. This is the cheapest addiction I ever had. Thank Yggdrasil I gave up my high maintenance --------.And the other __________ .
Isnt the best snuff F&T HDT? I thought perfection had already been achieved? Now THAT would be one to order in a massive 400g bottle! I usually try flavors I think Ill like, or based on others reviews, in smaller quantity. If they hit the mark I order a larger tin. This is indeed a cheap hobby by comparison.
@DICE, why don’t you share a little of what you bought and didn’t like and why, and what you do like and maybe some of the experienced members could point you in a direction and save you a little trial and Error.
@hdsale and @basement_shaman, I agree, you can get a whole range of snuff to try for 20 to 30 $s it’s no wonder that everyone ends up with more snuff than they can use in a lifetime.
He who dies with the most snuff Wins
@3_D Fair request, I will list what I have from my recent order and why I do or don’t like it. I won’t sugarcoat anything this is being honest. —Dholakia: I bought Kamal 50g, Ganja 50g x2, Aniseed Menthol 50g, Purple Passion 10g, Coffee Bite 10g and Dholakia White 25g. Also Split a 50g tin of FUBAR Grunt with a buddy. Kamal is just way to strong in the perfume department! To the point of ridiculousness. Tried it a couple times and that is all I will ever want to experience in my life. Ganja is a bit milder, but is still just nothing like I read in reviews. I don’t smell any rose etc. It is just overwhelming sickening perfume. Aniseed Menthol is great! I love it, but is definitely not an all day snuff. I will keep this one and use it when I need a bit of refreshment. Purple Passion is great! It is a once in awhile dessert snuff. Coffee Bite is also a good one. Great for the morning snuff. The one thing that ruined Coffee Bite for me is the new batch of FUBAR GRUNT (I will review it in a bit) you can tell the base of Coffee Bite is Grunt. Dholakia White is basically a snuff that people can boast about, it is not enjoyable. I like to take BIG boxcars when I snuff and this is just not the case for the White. Yea sure I can take a pinch and lightly get it up in the nose but it is more trouble than it is worth. FUBAR Grunt oh man where do I start. This stuff (at least the new batch me and a buddy got) belongs in the trash along with all the used cigarette butts, because that is exactly what the Grunt smells like. Me and my friend had some of the older batch and it was our favorite snuff. To get this 50g tin in was a complete shocker because it is NOTHING like what it used to be. —Abraxas Dragun 15g and Fire Drac 15g Abraxas Dragun at least the bottle I got of it smells nothing like what I have read on many reviews. To me and my friend, it smells like funky cheese with a hint of foot. Neither one of us detect any chili or any of the other smells stated in the reviews. Fire Drac is very good and I like it. It is an occasional snuff, great for taking a pinch on the weekends with a friend while sipping on a brew. —Viking Peach 25g and Viking Dark 25g Both of these is like the comfort at home, easy to take and great nic hit. I love this stuff. I do like a little bit more of a fine grind (but it has to have the right moisture content) but Viking is a very good product and can definitely be used as an all day snuff. —Taxi Red 25g Even though I am not a huge fan of coarse grind, this stuff is amazing. You really have to SNORT this stuff to get it up there without it all falling out into your lap. I love it, earthy barnyard smell with a big nic hit. —Honey Bee 130g This stuff is just too dry for me to take my beloved big boxcars of it. It is kind of funny if you take too big of a smell of it, when you cough a big cloud of honeybee dust will shoot out of your mouth. I also ruined my chance of enjoying Honey Bee by making some homemade snuff out of Red Man Chew. I dried it out and ground it up into a snuff and it tastes pretty much the same. I do have a batch of Honey Bee marinating in my own sauce to add moisture and scent, and it is turning out great. The Honey Bee with the right moisture content is a very enjoyable snuff. ***I have plenty more snuff here but this is just from my recent order. I guess what I am looking for and finally decided to make myself, is a good nicotine content snuff that is fine to medium fine grind that has a decent moisture content for ease of use, and can be used all day. The scent could be different things as long as there is a bit of saltiness and a MILD natural scent. ESPECIALLY no strong perfume smells. The original FUBAR Grunt my friend and I had in the past was just about perfect. I have plenty of different ingredients that I will be experimenting with making my own snuff. I look forward to creating my own perfect blend instead of continuing the vicious cycle that seems to end 70% of the time in disappointment. Sorry for the long winded post but I figured if I was going to reply I would try to make it thorough (even though I am sure I forgot a snuff or two that is sitting in the padded MrSnuff package not being used)
@DICE, That’s something to start with. I mentioned “experienced members” I didn’t mean to imply that I was part of that group let’s see who can give you some advice. For what it’s worth I’ve recently tried some of the Grunt and couldn’t believe the ash smell, there has to be a problem somewhere, it can’t be the way it’s supposed to smell and taste. the other thing is a new snuff has to get rid of the Ammonia but it won’t always smell like ammonia so sometimes that “Funky” smell will go away. Have you tried Toque Quit, Whiskey and Honey, Wilson’s Tom Buck, well let’s see what everyone has to say.
@lunecat no real reason why I bought the 130g Honey Bee, I just did. And about the Abraxas Dragun, I am being totally honest about my likes and dislikes of some of the snuff I have. That is EXACTLY what it smells like in my nose and also other friends who have tried it. It is purely my observations and opinion and in the case of Dragun, it is completely opposite of other peoples opinion. I am not mad about it and it has no effect on me buying more Abraxas products, perfect example is buying the Fire Drac after.
@3_D I personally love the ammonia smell of a fresh snuff, it is not funky to me at all. Maybe it is because I relate that smell to freshness, I am not sure. I have not tried any Toque yet besides a lot of Silver Dollar Snuff that I believe is made by Toque? Toque Quit and also the Whiskey and Honey have been on my radar and I plan on buying some soon. I am mainly concentrating right now on making my own snuff. I have a whole lot of tobacco leaf and all the ingredients and ideas for sauces. I even have my own tobacco plants growing at the moment. So in reality my hobby has changed a bit from being a snuff buyer/user to a snuff maker/user.
@DICE , Good luck with it. and keep in mind I’m always willing to go out of my way to help as a taste tester
@3_D I got you written down as a tester What I am going to produce is a fine/med fine grind snuff with good moisture and High Nicotine content that is good for all day use. All the ingredients that I have are organic and natural. I am just doing this as a hobby but would be more than happy to send free samples out to anyone interested. Honestly the best reward for me is to give things to people that make them happy, that is how I have always been.
@Dice, please add me to your taster list! I have tried making snuff from my homegrown tobacco but it hasn’t turned out all that well, yet. This summer I am planning to grow a few rustica plants to give it some spine (if my seeds are still viable). In the meantime I’ve acquired a few essential oils and some bulk Toque to use as a base. First up is Toque Natural scented with frankincense. I’m also planning to scent some snuff with cinnamon vine flowers this summer. If any of this turns out well I’ll let you know.
please add me to your taster list!
@Mouse Done Sir
@DICE I doubt you would have any difficulty at all in finding volunteers to try new snuff. Seems like a common thread with this crew…
