After reviewing three Swisher products today I checked their website–they only list eight varieties of dry snuff (honey bee, navy sweet, square, tops sweet, buttercup, railroad mills sweet, superior and society). This means that the following brands are either discontinued or are likely to be discontinued [why wouldn’t they list them?]: -dixie sweet -lorillard sweet -navy plain -RR mills checkerberry -RR mills maccoboy -RR mills plain -ralph’s -starr -3 thistle strong -3 thistle sweet -tops mild -wild cherry It’s too bad–I’m fond of many of these brands (except the sweets, with the exception of 3 thistle).
I don’t think they ever listed those on their site to begin with.
I have no problem ordering them
that’s just bizarre. I can understand not spending money on advertizing, but not listing them on their website doesn’t make a lick of sense.
Snuff is Swisher’s bastard stepchild. They seem not to know what to do with it. They’re certainly not proud of it. Its been this way as long as I’ve been here.
I like Swishers snuffs I had this far; namely Navy Sweet, Square and Railroad Mills Sweet. Tobacco base is solid, plain and strong and snuffs have their individual characters.
Square is the best scotch I’ve had yet. I believe I read on here that they stopped making the RRMills Checkerberry, I would just love…love to try that flavor.
Still able to get Checkerberry Tom
How 'bout RR Maccoboy, Tom? Thanks.
Haven’t had the need to get more, as I still have plenty, but I’ve not heard that it’s no longer available. Tom
Yes, you do (have plenty) – I just looked. Saw you still have those big tubs of Bruton, too. Those would be good for stockpiling. I’ve got two of the large cans put back for “hard times”, but one of those tubs would do very well for that.
I got one of those Bruton tubs–if I stuck to snuffing it I imagine it would last 80 years or so, but I can’t resist dipping it too. Mmm, four times the cancer of moist dip! The lids are real wide, which for dippers can lead to shirt stains, so I might transfer it into a smaller tin for use. The Big Brute feels nice in the hand, though–sort of like a pint glass. I like to hold it when I’m lecturing my grandson, the bipolar bear, on the problems with kids these days. He still flinches when I scream “cut me a switch” in his ear when he wakes up in the morning. Wuss.
Mike B. – You made me laugh out loud. I rarely do that.
