The future of Snuffhouse.org

Is it just me, or does it seem like the “Introduce Yourself” sticky is lighting up every day with new members at an increasing rate? And in just the last six months, has anyone else noticed more posting activity by a wider variety of members? I think we are onto something here… Hats off to Alex for providing the groundwork for a vital community that is undoubtedly spreading the word about the joys of snuff to so many! I see so many opportunities to enhance this community and to help spread the word about nicotine replacement therapy. This website is not only a community, it is also saving lives. That being said, what ideas to members have about enhancements, additions, features, functionality, etc. that could improve Snuffhouse.org for all of us and future members? For example, I am in agreement with other members that adding a “Reviews” section would go a long way toward expanding the knowledge available on this forum. Anyone?

More contests where objects are inserted into snuff tins, signifying a win. Even though I didn’t win a pence back there with the ‘Chrismas Pud’ , I enjoyed hearing about it and believing I MAY WIN. And possibly, for the winner of certain contests, they could be enrolled in a “SNUFF OF THE MONTH CLUB”, each month receiving a different ‘seasonal’ snuff, or as a different idea, be a guinea pig for new experimental snuffs. The individual could be the first to try particular samples. And possibly for some major award, a type of snuff could be 're-labeled with the member’s name on there with the word 'Choice" behind their name. I know this is getting outside the realms of being possible to do. Related to what LincolnS. is saying, why not add an extra sticker on the tins promoting snuffhouse in some way. May be possible with Toque only. There again, I maybe crossing the logist lines of copyright, cost, etc., of which I don’t know. But it seems when a Newb purchases a tin of snuff, only half the battle is won. They may experiment with it ,get disgruntled, and toss it. Imagine if there was a web address on a tin where they could have instant access to support, even if they don’t ‘join’. Like I say, Roderick may be the only one who may be capable of even considering this. I’m sure many of the other producers don’t really give a damn. Well that’s about it. I was really just looking for an opportunity to say ‘Christmas Pud’ again. Thankyou.

I’m liking the ideas and suggestions, so far. Being very new to snuff, I am always wanting to learn more. The general public is so unknowledgeable on the subject of snuff, which is unfortunate.

I’ve always thought it would be a good idea for snuff producers to offer more instructions on snuff useage. A web link on the tin is a great idea.

As a relatively new member of this fine snuffing community, I would have to say that in the beginning I found exactly everything I was looking for. However as I become more familiar with snuff and take and enjoy it more and more everyday, I can’t help but to think of things that can further help this community. If I could suggest one beneficial idea of something to add it would be a new kind of review system where instead of finding the reviews for a specific snuff, there could be some sort of rating or voting system where members can cast a vote on a particular product and based on a coding system or the like, list which snuffs everyone finds the best. All in all this could help the beginner snuffer in quickly finding the best or most commonly liked snuff. I don’t know how possible that is though.

ISTA

Bart, your last idea had me laughing. Imagine one day you’re over around ermtony, and pop into a corner store proudly displaying Ermtony’s Choice!

The trouble is that my choice tends to change from day to day!

I know what you mean, ermtony! I was thinking, truthfuly if you looked up ‘snuff’ and found your way past the movie sections, a person would eventually find their way here, but the sticker on the tin may be quicker. Also the idea about ‘snuff of the month’. The thing that may kill that is the shipping. If you were to sign up at the beginning of the year for your deliveries and the distributer kept your name on file, shipping maybe two tins per month, the shipping would be damn near as expensive as the snuff. These could be different packages you could order. “Meat-lovers Mix”–double tin of Cheese & Bacon “Vintner’s Special”–Champagne, Whiskey,Bourbon “Breakfast Master” Lime toast, Marmelade, HDT, L260 “Grand prix Stroker” NTSU Black, Toque Quit, Dholakia White, We Garrett, Red Bull “U.S. Litterbox mix” Navy Plain, RR Mills plain These are all preliminary ideas and could use a bit of polishing…

I like that Bart

As a new snuffer, I definitely am excited about the idea of the snuff club Bart is talking about. Actually, I was on a cigar website and they do something like that. True enough, cigars are more expensive therefore the shipping is worth it but if your like most people you cant get snuff without shipping it anyway. When I first started ordering snuff I had no idea what I liked and this website was very helpful. I think newcomers could use a recommendation system kinda like that beginners list I found here but maybe more sophisticated. What if after you bought a few different types, identified your favorite, then more suggestions could be made based on the qualities of your favorite snuff. Snuff is very subjective but there are basic qualities like grind, moisture, smell categories. I would be happy to help on a project like this.

How I generally figure if I should or shouldn’t order more snuff…

+1 to reviews, tips, tricks etc. being another newbie.

If someone started a snuff club, they could send 2 or three tins at once and use bubble wrap envelopes like Northerner uses for small shipments of snus. That would cut down on postage costs.

Snuffhouse.org will undergo some changes in 2010. We will update the software. After that, I will see if we can get a review system into it. I am happy to see us grow! Thank you all.
